Abstract

Broilers are meat type chickens which are having tender meat and can be harvested in aerly stage of age (28 d) so that can recoup quickly.  Broiler agribusines has been conducted since 2005 in polytechnic of Agricuture Kupang, started with very small scale. It has been well known that chicken excreta is one of the contributors in environmental polution due to the emisión of ammonia (NH3). Ammonia arena lokasi kandang verada di lingkungan kampus. Ammonia is the result of nitrogent decomposition in chicken excreta, such as uric acid undigested protein and non protein nitrogent. Thus, the effort to reduce the ammonia polution in by using probiotics. In PPUPIK activity, Probio FMplus, which is a modification product of In Probio-FM in Jambi University, is used for boiler rearing. The main comodity of PPUPIK in Polytechnic of Agriculture is broiler chickens. Type of housing used is floor pens with the capacity 1,000 birds and 7,000 birds in two different location. Additional products from PPUPIK are probiotics (Probio Fmplus), processing products (ie. nuggets), and organic fertilizer which is fermented using Probio FMplus. The positive impacts of PPUPIK activities are the improvement of student competency, supporting tri dharma activities, and as a place for competent test for senior vocational students.

Abstract

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of different basal diet and feed additive on the percentage of carcass and component parts of broilers. This research has been conducted for four months (June to September 2020) at State Polytechnic of Agriculture Kupang. A total of 264 one-day old chicks were distributed to 24 pens (11 birds/pen).The experiment was designed using a 2 x 4 factorial design with 8 tretment combinations and three replications for each treatment. The treatments were control (0% sago) (P0), control (0% sago) + avyzime 0,10 % and phyzyme 0,05% (P1), control (0% sago) + allzime 0,05% (P2), control (0% sago) + synbiotic probio FMplus 40 mL/L drinking water (P3), Diet containing 10% sago (P4), Diet containing 10% sago + allzyme 0,10 % and phyzyme 0,05% (P5), Diet containing 10% sago + allzyme 0,05% (P6) and Diet containing 10% sago + synbiotic probio FMplus 40 mL/L drinking water (P7). The result shows that type of basal diet (TBD) and feed additive (FA) affect (P < 0,05) the carcass weight but it did not afect (P>0,05) carcass percentage of broiler chickens. Except for thigh, TBD did not affect (P>0,05) on component parts of carcass. Feed additive had no effect (P>0,05) on carcass component, with the exception of thigh. Interaction between TBD x FA was significant (P<0,05) only for weight and percentage of carcass and back percentage of broilers. Broilers fed basal diet A plus Allzyme SSF-E had lower weight and percentage of carcass and also back percentage than other treatment diets. To sum up,, 1) basal diet B produced higher carcass weight than basal diet A; 2) supplementation of Allzyme SSF-E on basal diet A reduced the weight and percentage of broiler carcass.

Abstract

The intake of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) can lead to poor productivity and diseases in birds. Thus, it is important to minimize the toxic effects of AFB1. The objective of this study was to evaluate the carcass yield and haematological profile of broilers fed diets containing AFB1 added with Mycosorb. A total of 240-day old broiler chicks were randomly distributed to 24 pens (10 birds/pen). The experiment was designed using a 4 x 2 factorial arrangement with two different factors, namely aflatoxin level and Mycosorb. The treatments were control diets, control diets added with Mycosorb, diets containing 10.36 ppb AFB1, diets containing 10.36 ppb AFB1 added with Mycosorb, diets containing 26.97 ppb AFB1, diets containing 26.97 ppb AFB1 added with Mycosorb, diets containing 61.06 ppb AFB1, diets containing 61.06 ppb AFB1 added with Mycosorb. There was an interaction (p<0.05 to 0.01) between AFB1 level and Mycosorb on the white blood cells (WBC) and litter/excreta score (LES), but not (p>0.05) in tcarcass traits (CT), lymphoid organ weight (LOW), and haematological profile (HP) of broilers. Level of AFB1 did not affect (p>0.05) all CT, LOW, and HP, but it affected (p<0.001) the LES. Mycosorb did not improve (p>0.05) CT, LOW and HP of broilers.  In conclusions, 1) dietary Mycosorb in afla-treated diets improved litter quality and reduced white blood cell counts of broilers; 2) the AFB1 level up to 61.06 ppb did not impair carcass yield, lymphoid organ weights and other haematological index of broilers.

Abstract

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the efficacy of Mycosorb in broiler diets containing a low level of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). A total of 200 male broiler chicks (Lohmann) were randomly distributed into 20 pens (10 birds/pen). The experimental design used was a 2 x 2 factorial completely randomized design with two main factors which were the AFB1 levels (non-detectable level; 2.58 ppb) and mycotoxin binder (MB) (0 and 0.15% Mycosorb), respectively. The treatments were control diet (P1), control diet + MB (P2), 2.58 ppb AFB1 diet (P3), and 2.58 ppb AFB1 diet + MB (P3). The AFB1 diets were formulated by replacing the whole proportion of fresh corn with moldy corn containing 4.22 ppb AFB1. The results showed that except for the digestibility coefficient of crude fat (DCCF), AL x MB interaction was not significant (P>0.05) for the growth performance and DCCP. The AFB1 levels (AL) improved (P<0.001) feed intake (FI), feed conversion ratio (FCR), and reduced the DCCF of broilers. The AFB1 levels enhanced the body weight gain (BWG) of growing broilers, but it did not augmented (P>0.05) the BWG of starter broilers. The digestibility coefficient of crude protein was not influenced (P>0.05) by the AFB1 levels. DCCF of broilers who received AFB1 diets were lower (P<0.05) than that of the control diet. Mycosorb did not affect (P>0.05) all variables measured. In conclusion, 1) except for DCCF, AFB1 levels x MB interaction did not improve growth performance and DCCP;  2) the AFB1 level of 2.58 ppb in the diets increased FI and BWG of broilers, but reduced the feed efficiency and DCCF; and 3) Mycosorb did not improve all variables measured.

Abstract

The objective the present research was to evaluate the response of broilers fed maize-pollard diets supplemented with multi enzymes.A total of 240 broiler chicks were randomly distributed to 240 pens (10 birds/pen). The experimental design used was a 3 x 2 factorial completed randomized design with the main factors pollard level and enzymes (-,+). The results showed no pollard level (PL) x multi enzyme (ME) interaction (P > 0,5 - 0,01) on the growth performance of birds. Pollard level only affected (P<0.01) the body weight gain (BWG) of birds. Birds fed multi enzymes had better (P<0.05-0.01)feed intake (FI) and (BWG) than those who fed without enzymes. The FI of birds fed ME was higher (P<0.05) than those fed no enzymes. Pollard (10 and 15%) increased (P<0.05) the BWG. In conclusion, the multi enzymes in the diets containing different level of pollard improve the performance of birds. Key Words:  Broiler, Enzyme, Pollard, Performance

Abstract

Two experiments were conducted to evaluate nutritional value of putak for broilers. Experiment 1. The apparent metabolisable energy of raw and fermented putak were determined. The experimental design used was completely randomized design with three treatments and four replicates. Total of 64 broilers were randomly distributed to 16 pens. A maize-soybean meal basal diet was formulated and three assay diets were then developed by substituting putak (raw, and fermented, 250 g kg-1, w/w), and maize (500 g kg-1, w/w) of the basal diet. Even though the AME and AMEn values of fermented putak were comparable to that of raw putak and maize, but it was slightly higher than that of raw putak. Experiment 2. Using the AME value of raw putak obtained in Experiment 1, five treatment diets containing 0 to 200 g kg-1 putak were formulated. The body weight gain of broilers fed 150 - 200 g kg-1-1 putak was higher to that of control diet, but it was similar to those fed 50-100 g kg-1 putak. No differences were found in FCR and mortality rate. Feed intake of broilers fed diets containing putak was higher than that of control diet. In conclusion, the AME and AMEn values of putak, fermented putak, and maize were comparable. Putak can be included in broiler diets up to 200 g kg-1 without detrimental effects.

Abstract

Corn grain is used as the main energy source in poultry diet formulation. The quality of corn is easy to deteriorate during storage because of insect, fungal, and mycotoxin contamination. Efforts should be made to maintain the quality of corn during storage. The present study aimed to evaluate the physical and chemical quality of different moisture levels of corn supplemented by a mold inhibitor. A total of 750 kg of corn grain was used in the present study. A commercial mold inhibitor was used with a dose of 0.075%. The experimental design used was a 3 x 2 factorial complete randomized design. The first main factor was the different moisture levels (ML) of corn (≤10%, 10.0-10.9%; 11.0-11.9%), while the second main factor was mold inhibitor (MI, - or +). Thus, there were six treatment combinations, and each treatment comprised five replications. The results showed that ML, MI, and ML x MI interaction significantly (P<0.05 to 0.001) affected the percentage of grain damage and fungal grain but not (P>0.05) the moisture level of corn during 90 days of storage. Except for crude protein content, the ML did not affect (P>0.05) the proximate composition (PC) and gross energy (GE) content of corn. Except for dry matter (DM), the PC and GE content of corn were not affected (P>0.05) by MI. ML x MI interaction did not affect (P>0.05) the PC and GE content. The aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) content was similar (P>0.05) among all treatments. Except for histidine and lysine contents, the amino acid contents of corn were not affected by ML, MI, or ML x MI combination. In conclusion, the supplementation of MI in corn with different ML improved the physical quality, DM, ash, and GE content of corn grain during the storage; MI maintained the DM content but did not reduce the AFB1 content of corn. Except for histidine and lysine, the supplementation of MI in corn with different ML did not affect the amino acid content of corn.
