Abstract

COVID-19 is in a transitional phase towards becoming endemic, which means individuals with comorbidities are at risk of contracting the disease. On average, individuals who succumb to COVID-19 have at least one comorbidity. Therefore, individuals with comorbidities should be cautious and adhere to health protocols. The research aims to determine the relationship between education, knowledge, attitudes, and COVID-19 prevention among patients with comorbidities at the Kuta Alam Community Health Center in Banda Aceh. This study is observational with a cross-sectional design. Data collection took place from March 2nd to 13th, 2023, involving 100 individuals with comorbidities at the Kuta Alam Community Health Center in Banda Aceh. The research findings indicate that out of 100 individuals with comorbidities, the most common comorbidity is hypertension (60%), with 78% having one comorbidity, and 62% being COVID-19 survivors. Respondents with higher education levels showed that 98.4% made good efforts in preventing COVID-19. Additionally, respondents with good knowledge demonstrated that 93.8% made good preventive efforts, while those with a positive attitude showed 96.9% engagement in preventive measures. The Spearman rank test results at a 95% confidence interval and α of 0.05 showed correlations between education, knowledge, and attitudes with COVID-19 prevention among comorbid patients, obtaining respective values of (P value = 0.000, r = 0.871), (P value = 0.000, r = 0.778), and (P value = 0.000, r = 0.847). In conclusion, there exists a strong correlation between education, knowledge, attitudes, and COVID-19 prevention among comorbid patients at the Kuta Alam Community Health Center in Banda Aceh. Higher education levels correspond to better knowledge and favorable attitudes towards COVID-19 prevention among individuals with comorbidities.

Abstract

The human face is one of the most dominant parts of the body used to distinguish identities. Facial shape is influenced by gender, race, ethnicity, climate, socioeconomic status, nutrition, and genetic factors. To determine an individual's facial type, facial anthropometric measurements can be conducted. Facial anthropometry is a discipline that measures and analyzes human facial proportions, providing essential information about the differences in shape and size among various races, ages, and genders. Once facial anthropometric data is obtained, one can determine a person's facial type using the facial index formula. The facial index is the ratio of facial height to facial width, multiplied by 100. This research was conducted at the Faculty of Medicine, Syiah Kuala University, with a total of 64 research subjects, consisting of 32 Acehnese individuals and 32 Minangnese individuals who met the inclusion criteria on August 30, 2023. This study is descriptive-analytic with univariate analysis. The results of this study indicate that the facial type of Acehnese individuals is leptoprosopic, with 14 individuals (43.75%), while the facial type of Minangnese individuals is also leptoprosopic, with 13 individuals (40.6%).

Abstract

Abstract

Stunting remains a significant chronic nutritional problem in Indonesia, including the province of Aceh. The lack of data on the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of primary healthcare physicians regarding stunting prevention represents a critical gap that warrants investigation. This study aimed to evaluate the levels of knowledge, attitudes, and practices of public health center (PHC) physicians in addressing childhood stunting in Aceh Province. A descriptive-quantitative design was employed involving 143 physicians from 39 PHC located in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar. This study was conducted between April 2022 and January 2023. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire and analyzed using univariate statistics. The majority of the respondents were female (89.5%). A total of 67.8% of respondents demonstrated good knowledge, 86% exhibited positive attitudes, and 82% reported engaging in stunting prevention practices aligned with standard guidelines. In conclusion, PHC physicians in the study area displayed strong readiness to support stunting prevention efforts. Continued capacity-building interventions and sustainable support systems are essential for reinforcing their strategic role in primary healthcare services.

Abstract

The Chronic Disease Management Program, or Program Pengelolaan Penyakit Kronis (Prolanis), is a disease management program designed for individuals with chronic illnesses. It aims to maintain health and improve quality of life. The success of Prolanis depends not only on patient adherence to medication but also on family involvement as the primary source of support. This study aimed to examine the relationship between family support and medication adherence among Prolanis patients at Batoh Public Health Center, Banda Aceh, Indonesia. An observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted using consecutive sampling of 74 Prolanis participants. Data were collected through guided interviews. Among the participants, 33 individuals (44.5%) exhibited low medication adherence, while 41 individuals (55.5%) demonstrated high adherence. Additionally, 8 participants (10.8%) reported poor family support, whereas 66 participants (89.2%) received good family support. Data analysis using the chi-square test revealed a significant relationship (p=0.009) between family support and medication adherence. Therefore, it can be concluded that family support is significantly associated with medication adherence in Prolanis patients.  Families are the main supporters in maintaining the health of their family members, with an important role in encouraging, supporting, and supervising patients' treatment. Good support and constant encouragement and attention can increase patients' confidence, which in turn will affect their adherence to treatment.
