Abstract

Abstract Hate speech is an act of communication carried out by an individual or group in the form of provocation, incitement, or insult to other individuals or groups in terms of various aspects. One example is the utterance of hatred that is spread through messages written on Facebook regarding the Candidate of the Governor of Riau 2018. In the S-R theory, it is stated that the attitude change process can occur if there is a stimulus that influences it. Based on this theory, researchers want to see how the effects of stimulus/utterance hate towards student responses / opinions. The method used is explanative quantitative using Slovin technique and the number of samples is 87 people. The researcher collected data with questionnaires. To process the test questionnaire data is done by using the SPSS Windows version 23 program. Based on the results of simple linear regression gets the value of regression coefficient in this r3esearch is Y = 5.843 + 0.432 X with a significance level of 0.000. of course ii’s smaller than α = 0.05. This means that there is the influence of hate speech about the election of the Governor of Riau 2018 on Facebook against the opinion of Riau University Government Science students at 59.7% and classified as the category of influence. While the remaining 40.3% is influenced by other variables not included in this study. Although not dominant, the respondents pay attention to the contents of the message delivered and arise from student opinion. So, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.

Abstract

YouTube Channel "Kok Bisa?" It's one of the most famous educational channels on YouTube with more subscribers than any other education channel. Content given on channel "Kok Bisa?" Draw the attention of audiences to watch the videos. This is in accordance with the assumption of the theory of Use and Gratification of the freedom of the audience in choosing which media can be accepted and satisfy their needs. To measure the satisfaction of the audience by knowing the motive to watch (gratification seeking) and satisfaction after watching (gratification obtained). The purpose of this study is to find information between the motives and satisfaction of the YouTube channel "Kok bisa?" Among students of Communication Studies Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Riau.The method used in this research is quantitative. Data collection techniques in this study using questionnaires. The location of this research is at the Department of Communication Science Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Riau. Sampling using accidental sampling technique with unknown populations formula and get 96 respondents. To know the gap of satisfaction of use, researcher use model of Uses and Gratification which developed by Palmgreen to analyze result.The results of this study show that by looking at the comparison of motive values with student satisfaction in watching YouTube channel "Kok bisa?", The result of calculating the mean value of GS (3.6693) is bigger than the mean value of GO (3.6450). Which means there is a gap of satisfaction because the motive of use is greater than the satisfaction received. This shows that the YouTube channel "Kok can?" Is still not able to satisfy its users.

Abstract

Mass media plays an important role in providing both information and entertainment for public. The Radio Republic of Indonesia (RRI) Pro 2 88,4 FM, as one of the mass media which available in Pekanbaru, aired Pro 2 Goes To School program that expose talent and creativity of the students. The RRI also had an interactive dialogue which discuss various topics regarding activities and achievements of the schools in a fun and informative way. The objective of the study is to observe the effect of the Pro 2 Goes To School program on students creativity at SMA Negeri 7 Pekanbaru.The study used explanation quantitative methods. The data was collected by using Negeri 7 Pekanbaru with 565 students in total. In determining the size of the sample, slovin formula was applied and resulted in 85 samples. The proportional random sampling technique was used to select the respondents. To analyze the association between the variables, the researcher applied simple linear regression analysis by using statistical software, statistic product and service solution (SPSS) Windows version 16.Based on the simple linear regression analysis, the coefficient of the regression was Y = 22,051 + 0,765 X with significance level of 0,00 smaller than  = 0,05. The determination test resulted in 17,5%. The results suggested a low effect of Pro 2 Goes To School program on students creativity at SMA Negeri 7 Pekanbaru. The 82,5% was determined by other factors which were not observed in this study.

Abstract

Legislation – Act No. 19 of the year 2016 about information, electronic and transactions,  is the first cyber law regulations in Indonesia that applies since 2016. As the first new legal regulation, the implementation of UU ITE full pros – cons in its implementation. In an era of technological development, kompasiana.com is present as the online media (citizen journalism) where anyone can convey opinions. The purpose of this research was to know how big the rate trend of opinion from a user called kompasiana.com with kompasianer against the implementation of UU ITE No. 19 year 2016. The theory used in this study is the S-R theory. Since enforced the ACT ITE 2016 years no. 16 gave a stimulus to the community against the implementation of the ACT ITE with response in the form of opinion pro or con. This research using quantitative content analysis of research methods, data collection techniques, namely through the documentation of kompasianer opinion in the kompasiana.com. The samples on this research totalled 16 opinion by using the method of Total Sampling. Methods of data analysis used is a frequency distribution table. The data processing is done by either using a coding sheet. The results obtained from this study is conduded that 50% of kompasianer’s opinion on the implementation of the ITE LAW No.19 of the year 2016 tends to be neutral. This is evidenced the content of opinion contains that some of criticism, praise, and advice. The implementation of the ITE LAW No. 19 of 2016 is still felt less precise so that the existing opinion contains elements of criticism. Nevertheless, there are opinions that praise the implementation of the ITE LAW No. 19 of 2016 and also there are some advise that the implementation of the ITE LAW No. 19 of 2016 to be more effective. Keywords : Opinion, Stimulus Respon, Content Analysis, New Media

Abstract

Video Blog (vlog) President Joko Widodo in Youtube channel President Joko Widodo is one of Vlog which is quite famous in cyberspace. In Vlog President Joko Widodo there are some videos that are quite phenomenal among the people and one of them is Vlog #Jokowi Answer Episode 1. In the video, President Jokowi provides an opportunity for teenagers to record questions in various themes that will be answered directly by President Jokowi on video the. This study aims to determine the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myths and how the representation of the image of the head of the State displayed on the video. This research method using qualitative method with Roland Barthes semiotics analysis approach which consist of denotation mean, connotation meaning, and semiotics myth used to know the meaning of word and interaction. Technique Data collecting used is documentation study, observation study, literature study, data searching done online. The object to be analyzed is a blog video titled #JokowiMawab Episode 1. The results showed that there are three meanings according to Roland Barthes semiotics. The meaning of denotation is a literal meaning of dialogue, expression, and direct answer out of the mouth of President Joko Widodo. The meaning of connotation is the hidden messages about President Jokowi's love of rock and metal, his views on politics, the creative industry in Indonesia, and his views on Indonesian youth. While the myth contained obtained through ideas and understanding of teenagers around President Jokowi. The cira representation shown is President Jokowi as a positive person. Abstract

A crisis of public confidence in the political parties become an obstacle for the political parties to attract the public, especially for the new party. PERINDO party comes as a new party in the political world. As a new party must be good at recruiting party administrators so as to strengthen the party's internal structure and simplify the process of verifying the electoral process to come. Targeted recruitment of officials in Indonesian to 1.5 million people board. For this study aims to find out how political communication strategies branch executive council (DPC) PERINDO party in recruiting administrators in District Kuantan Mudik, regency kuantan Singingi and to find out how political persuasion branch executive council (DPC) PERINDO party in recruiting board.This research method is a qualitative method using the theory of Lasswell. The informant of this study consisted of 5 people branch executive council (DPC) PERINDO party the district Kuantan Mudik and 5 Management Branch (village). The technique of collecting data using interviews, observation and documentation. For the data analysis, refer to the interactive model Huberman and Miles. For checking the validity of the data using the extension of participation and triangulation techniques.The results of this study indicate that political communication strategies used by branch executive council (DPC) includes five elements namely political communicator of political communication, political messages, media, politics, goals or targets and the effect of a communication made by branch executive council (DPC) District of Kuantan Mudik PERINDO party. Political persuasion made in recruiting board that is through advertising, rhetoric and social activities. With the communication strategy undertaken by the branch executive council (DPC) PERINDO party, With the communication strategy undertaken by the branch executive council (DPC) PERINDO party, the branch executive council (DPC) Kuantan Mudik PERINDO party managed to recruit administrators twigs in accordance with the target that has been set.Keyword : Political Parties, Political Communication Strategies, Political Persuasion

Abstract

The Newsroom program can provide knowledge to students about the television news coverage process. This program is broadcast on NET TV every Saturday at 18.00 WIB. The newsroom explains how the real world of work is, especially for students who will carry out internships. The theory used in this study is the theory of S-O-R (Stimulus-Organism-Response). The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence the NET TV Newsroom program has on student knowledge in the process of covering television news in the University of Riau Communication Science department.   This research uses quantitative research methods, with data collection techniques, namely through questionnaires. The sample in this study amounted to 96 respondents, namely drawn by using the Unknown Population formula. The selected respondents were Riau University Communication Science students from the class of 2012 to 2018 who watched The Newsroom program, to divide into years of force used the Propotional Random Sampling formula. The data analysis method used is simple linear regression analysis. Data processing is done with the SPSS version 21 program. The results of the study with The Newsroom program variable coefficient of 0.756 and a significance value of 0,000 smaller than α = 0.05, which means that the Newsroom program has an influence on the knowledge of students of Communication Sciences. Meanwhile t count 8.023 is greater than t table which is 1.986. Based on the statistics obtained, the hypothesis received in this study is that there is a large influence of the Newsroom program on student knowledge in the television news coverage process in the University of Riau Communication Science department. Based on the test results the coefficient of determination shows the Rsquare value of 0.406 which means there is an influence of 40.6%. While the remaining 59.4% is influenced by other variables not included in this study.

Abstract

One of online media’s strength that is compared with conventional media, like newspaper, is its fastness in reporting news. Meanwhile, news release tendency of online media as same as conventional media is influenced by Ideology and importance of the media. This research was aimed to find out the framing analysis of football news release especially Champions league final in 2013-2014 season at Okezone.com online media. This research is a qualitative research that used framing analysis approach of Pan and Kosicki model (in Eriyanto, 2008).The data collection techniques were documentation, interview, online data collection (internet searching) and study of related literature. There are five news that were analyzed in this research. These news represented about everything happened before, during and after the final match. Based on the study that used agenda setting theory, media politic economy and framing elements of Pan and Kosicki model, the research findings show that news release framing of Okezone.com media online tended to side with Real Madrid than Atletico Madrid. It could be seen from the number of headline that often show off Real Madrid’s other side, including condition of players and Real Madrid’s ambitious target to obtain La Decima. Besides, Okezone.com also placed Real Madrid in media product as the main commodity that proposes entertainment side which had trade value in order to gain the readers’ attention.Keyword :Online Media’s, Analysis Framing, Media Politic Economy

Abstract

Hajj image played by H.Muhidin in Tukang Bubur Naik Haji the Soap Opera very interesting to study because hajj is in this soap opera is very different from the actual hajj according to Islamic law could become a role model in society. But in this soap opera H.Muhidin have not good behavior are strictly forbidden Allah as arrogant, envy and so forth. The purpose of this research is to find out the reality construction of hajj image in Tukang Bubur Naik Haji the soap opera episode 276 by separating denotation, connotation and myth.This research used qualitative methods descriptive which the data was obtained through interviews, documentation, and reference materials. As well as using semiotic analysis technique developed by Roland Barthes and the theory o fself-image to to know the reality construction of hajj image in Tukang Bubur Naik Haji the soap opera episode 276. This research presented the subject is the text of Tukang Bubur Naik Haji the soap opera. While the research object is the scene-scene in Tukang Bubur Naik Haji the soap opera episode 276 itself.The results showed that the reality construction in Tukang Bubur Naik Haji the soap opera episode 276 is negative and a positive hajj image. The reality construction of the negative hajj image or pilgrimage is not commendable, played by H.Muhidin constructed in Tukang Bubur Naik Haji episode 276 the soap opera among others, arrogant, angry, envy and prejudice. While reality construction of the positive hajj image or pilgrimage is commendable, played by H.Sulam constructed in Tukang Bubur Naik Haji episode 276 the soap opera among others, include praise, friendly and patient.Keywords : Tukang Bubur Naik Haji the soap opera, the reality construction, semiotics of Roland Barthes.

Abstract

The young generation as the successor to the ideals of the nation have hobbies and talents as well as achievements that must be developed for the achievement of intellectual and quality human resources. can give birth to strong cadres to achieve the national goals of the nation, in order to strengthen brotherhood, strengthen national unity. The purpose of this study is to find out the meaning of nationalism at the reality level, the level of representation and the level of ideology in the 3 Srikandi film.               This study uses a qualitative method with an approach that is analyzed by Jhon Fiske's semiotic analysis The subjects and objects in this study were observations of audio and visual displays in scenes from the 3 Srikandi film with data collection techniques used were observation, documentation, and literature study.               The results of this study indicate there is an Analysis of the Meaning of Nationalism in the film 3 Heroine. Analysis of the Meaning of Srikandi 3 film nationalism seen from three levels proposed by John Fiske, namely: at the level of reality, Analysis of the Meaning of Nationalism In the film 3 Srikandi looks at aspects of appearance, manner of speech, behavior, gestures, expressions and environment. At the level of representation, the technical and conventional codes contained in the 3 Srikandi film which depicts the Analysis of the Meaning of Nationalism in the 3 Srikandi film are reflected through aspects of the camera, lighting, music and sound. The level of ideology that can be concluded, the depiction of the values of nationalism so that the ideology inferred is the ideology of patriarchy and feminism.
