Abstract

The community engagement activity was conducted using the community-based research method. The engagement began with the formation of a community and continued with socialization activities and the application of technology integration in science education. Finally, an evaluation was conducted in the form of concept comprehension tests and student perception surveys. The activities were implemented according to plan and achieved the desired goals. Firstly, students' conceptual understanding surpassed the minimum criteria (70.36). However, difficulties were still encountered by students related to concept comprehension. These difficulties need to be further investigated. Secondly, students' perception of the activities was considered excellent (84.00). They acknowledged that integrating technology using PhET could create engaging learning experiences, enhance motivation to learn, assist in understanding concepts, and encourage them to actively engage in learning. However, they still doubted whether PhET could be as beneficial as they perceived it to be in other science topics. Thus, learning activities with PhET integration are deemed suitable and evaluated for their usefulness in other science topics.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi peran Augmented Reality (AR) dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep sains siswa sekolah menengah. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif melalui studi kasus, penelitian dilakukan di lingkungan pembelajaran alami dengan melibatkan siswa dan guru yang telah menggunakan AR. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa AR efektif dalam memvisualisasikan konsep-konsep abstrak menjadi model interaktif tiga dimensi, sehingga memfasilitasi pemahaman yang lebih mendalam sesuai dengan prinsip konstruktivisme. Teknologi ini tidak hanya meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa tetapi juga memungkinkan pembelajaran yang lebih personal melalui eksplorasi mandiri. Namun, implementasi AR menghadapi beberapa tantangan, termasuk keterbatasan infrastruktur, kesiapan guru, dan kesesuaian konten dengan kurikulum lokal. Studi ini merekomendasikan pengembangan konten AR yang lebih kontekstual, pelatihan guru yang memadai, serta kolaborasi antara pengembang teknologi dan pendidik. Temuan penelitian memberikan kontribusi penting dalam memahami potensi AR sebagai media pembelajaran inovatif, sekaligus menyoroti aspek-aspek yang perlu diperhatikan untuk optimalisasi penggunaannya di kelas sains.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan teknologi Augmented Reality (AR) dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Penggunaan AR menawarkan pendekatan interaktif dan imersif yang dapat membantu siswa memahami konsep-konsep abstrak dengan lebih jelas, meningkatkan minat belajar, serta mendorong keterampilan kritis dan kolaboratif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan melibatkan siswa sekolah menengah atas dalam mata pelajaran sains dan teknologi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan AR pada materi pelajaran sains meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap topik yang kompleks serta meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa selama proses pembelajaran. Selain itu, AR juga membantu guru dalam menyampaikan materi dengan cara yang lebih menarik dan efektif. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa AR berpotensi menjadi solusi inovatif dalam pendidikan STEM, yang tidak hanya meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran tetapi juga mempersiapkan siswa menghadapi tantangan dunia kerja berbasis teknologi. Rekomendasi untuk pengembangan lebih lanjut mencakup integrasi AR dalam kurikulum dan pelatihan bagi guru agar lebih efektif dalam memanfaatkan teknologi ini di kelas.

Abstract

PhET (Physics Education Technology) is a technological product that contains a collection of interactive simulations for science learning. PhET simulations have been proven effective for various levels: high, middle, and elementary school. However, their implementation is tailored for each level. The implementation of PhET simulations for groups of students with varying levels or heterogeneous classes in science outreach is the main topic of this activity. Activity supports the enhancement of STEM literacy, which is an important aspect of life today. The science outreach activity, known as Ogirium: Mathematics and Science for Students, focuses on groups of students from different levels (heterogeneous classes). Community-based research was applied. There are 19 participants from various levels of students. At the end of the activity, students take a concept comprehension test. Subsequently, students receive feedback on the test results, and a questionnaire is given to gather participants' perceptions of the activity. This activity revealed three important findings: 1) science outreach activities are beneficial and can serve as alternative learning and empowerment for the community, 2) PhET is effective for the learning process in heterogeneous classes, and 3) science outreach in heterogeneous classes can create multidirectional cooperation, both among students from various levels and between teachers and students.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of using posters as a learning medium on the topic of velocity and to understand students' perceptions of the posters. The research method used is community-based research, involving collaboration with an existing learning community. The research subjects consisted of 16 students who participated in learning using a physics poster about the sonar system. Concept understanding data was obtained through practice exercises, and student perception data was collected using a questionnaire. Descriptive analysis results showed that students' concept understanding was high, with an average score of 82.81. Fifty percent of the students achieved the maximum score of 100. Students' perceptions of using posters were also positive, with an average score of 3.93 out of 5. Students stated that posters helped in understanding concept and made learning more engaging, although there were some difficulties in reasoning problems and mathematical calculations. The conclusion of this research indicates that using posters as a learning medium is effective in enhancing concept understanding and student engagement. These findings recommend using posters as one of the learning strategies in science teaching at schools to create an interactive and engaging learning atmosphere.

Abstract

This research aims to identify and understand the difficulties experienced by students in learning Mathematical Physics at IAIN Kerinci. Based on the results of qualitative data analysis using a case study approach obtained from interviews, classroom observations, and group discussions, it was found that the main factors affecting students' learning difficulties are limitations in basic mathematics mastery, the complexity of physics concepts, and the limitations of interactive teaching strategies. This study recommends the development of more interactive teaching methods, the enhancement of laboratory facilities, and the formulation of a curriculum that prioritizes strengthening the fundamentals of physics and mathematics. The results of this research are also expected to serve as a reference in improving the quality of more adaptive and applicative Mathematical Physics learning according to the academic needs of students.
