Abstract

Addressing children’s emotional well-being is crucial for fostering healthy psychological development and optimizing their capacity to thrive in academic settings. However, traditional classroom routines often overlook the role of self-awareness and emotion regulation, especially for younger learners. This study aims to analyze the impact of a mindfulness-based intervention on reducing anxiety and improving self-regulation among primary school children. A quasi-experimental design was employed, involving students who were assigned to either an experimental group receiving mindfulness training or a control group with no such intervention. Anxiety and self-regulation were measured using validated psychological scales before and after the intervention. Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was used to assess the overall effect of the mindfulness program on both dependent variables. The results revealed that students who underwent mindfulness training demonstrated significantly lower levels of anxiety and improved self-regulation compared to the control group. The findings suggest that mindfulness practices help children develop greater emotional awareness, calmness, and behavioral control, contributing to their overall psychological resilience. This study underscores the value of incorporating structured mindfulness programs into early education to support both emotional and behavioral development.

Abstract

Autonomous learning is an important attitude that students should have so that they do not depend on others and can be disciplined and responsible, especially in writing description text. Descriptive text aims to describe an object or event in writing. The low autonomous learning of elementary school students' writing skills is caused by the ineffective learning methods used. This study aims to determine the effect of the guided writing method assisted by picture cards on autonomous learning skills in writing description text. The research used a quantitative approach of quasi-experimental type with a non-equivalent control group design. The study population was third-grade elementary school students in Gugus VI Gianyar in the 2024/2025 school year. The sample of 49 students was selected using the cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed by independent sample t-test. The results of the analysis showed tcount 6.832 > ttable 2.012. Thus, H₀ is rejected, and Hₐ is accepted. In conclusion, the guided writing method assisted by picture cards effectively improves autonomous learning of students' description text writing skills. This study expands the understanding of how incremental learning combined with visual aids can enhance autonomous learning and expressive ability in young learners. In addition, this study provides teachers with replicable and student-centred teaching strategies suitable for implementation in real classrooms.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low interest of students in learning Indonesian in elementary schools, which is caused by monotonous learning methods and the lack of use of interesting learning media. The main objective of this study is to test the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by e-comics media on the learning interest of fifth grade students. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The study was conducted in elementary schools with a sample of 71 students, consisting of an experimental class (n = 37) and a control class (n = 34). Data collection was carried out using a learning interest questionnaire developed based on indicators of student enjoyment, interest, attention, and involvement, and has been validated by experts. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent sample t-tests to see significant differences between the two groups. The results showed that the experimental group that received PBL learning assisted by e-comics had a higher average learning interest than the control group. It can be concluded that the integration of the PBL model and e-comic media is effective in increasing students' interest in learning Indonesian. This finding implies that innovative, student centered learning models supported by digital visual media need to be considered in the elementary school curriculum. Implications of the research shows that the integration of problem based learning approaches with e-comic media is able to increase student involvement, motivation, and understanding of learning materials.
