Abstract

Urban mobility in Indonesia faces major challenges due to rapid urbanization, increasing private vehicle ownership, congestion, and pollution. In regions like West Java, including Bandung Raya and Majalengka, these issues are compounded by user preferences driven by comfort, cost, and travel time, often favoring private vehicles. As a developing country, Indonesia also struggles with weak inter-agency coordination, low infrastructure investment, and public stigma toward public transportation. This study employs the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to collect, analyze, and synthesize findings from existing research on transportation modes. Data were sourced using the Publish or Perish (PoP) software, which conducts targeted searches on Google Scholar—chosen for its accessibility and diverse sources compared to databases like Scopus or Web of Science. A total of 1,000 publications from 2000 to 2025 were analyzed. Using VOSviewer, the study examined keyword correlations and trends in publication themes over time. The results indicate a notable rise in transportation mode research since 2010, peaking around 2020. Overlay Visualization from VOSviewer reveals the temporal progression of key terms, highlighting growing interdisciplinary interest in public transportation issues. These findings provide valuable insight into the academic development of transportation studies and support policy discussions on sustainable urban mobility in Indonesia.

Abstract

Road curves often become vulnerable to traffic accidents, which remain a significant worldwide issue. This study provides an essential analysis of the effects of road geometry on curves on user safety. The main objective of this research is to identify the relationship between the features of curve infrastructure, such as radius, superelevation, and lane width, and the traffic accident rate. Accident data from various road segments in Indonesia was thoroughly analyzed. Special emphasis is placed on the types of accidents, their severity levels, and the contributing factors to these accidents. Studies show that curves with suboptimal designs, such as small radii or lack of superelevation, significantly increase the risk of accidents. Additionally, the consistency of geometric design and the visual perception of curves significantly affect the safety of drivers and other road users. This study highlights the importance of using a comprehensive approach in the planning and designing road curves to enhance overall transportation safety. The proposed recommendations include stricter design guidelines, improved maintenance, and better instructions for road users to reduce the risk of curve accidents.

Abstract

The development of roads is one of the things that goes hand in hand with technological progress and encourages economic growth. Road development facilitates and accelerates the circulation of goods and services between regions as the backbone of the nation's economy. Road development has been felt by various parties in making it easier and smoother for various types of economic activities carried out between regions. Roads have several facilities such as bends, slopes, intersections, and others. For the safety and comfort of traffic flow, road users need to pay extra attention when passing bends, slopes, and intersections. Periodic maintenance of various road facilities is crucial so that this infrastructure continues to function optimally in supporting economic development. Traffic accidents often occur on roads, especially those leading to tourist areas or mountains, with steep or dangerous curves as vulnerable locations. To overcome this problem, studies are needed to identify problems such as lack of signage, non-ideal road surfaces, or curve designs that are potentially dangerous. This case study highlights the potential of roads that affect road use due to the geometry of curves that have the potential for accidents. The purpose of this steep bend case is to evaluate comprehensively the existing curve geometry conditions in the case study of steep bends in hilly or mountainous areas.a steep curve located in hilly or mountainous areas that potentially impact road user safety.

Abstract

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has transformed the construction industry by offering a robust platform that integrates design, analysis, and construction processes within a single digital environment. This research explores the application of BIM technology, explicitly using Autodesk Revit, in modeling bridge abutments—an essential component in bridge construction that supports and distributes loads from the superstructure to the foundation. The study aims to demonstrate how BIM enhances the efficiency, accuracy, and sustainability of abutment design and construction. The methodology involves a comprehensive review of existing literature on BIM and bridge abutment design, focusing on technological advancements, case studies, and best practices. Additionally, practical implementation of BIM using Revit is conducted to develop detailed 3D models of abutments, incorporating architectural, structural, and geotechnical elements. The benefits of BIM in this context include improved collaboration among multidisciplinary teams, enhanced visualization capabilities for design optimization, and early detection of clashes and constructability issues. The research investigates the integration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with BIM to enhance site selection and environmental assessment phases, ensuring informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. Innovations in materials science, such as the use of fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP) and ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), are also considered for their potential to enhance the durability and longevity of bridge abutments. Ultimately, this study contributes to advancing the application of BIM in civil engineering, particularly in bridge construction, by showcasing Revit's capabilities in creating accurate, data-rich models that improve project outcomes.
