Abstract

Indonesia is a country blessed with abundant natural wealth and various types, both flora and fauna. This is motivated by the position of Indonesia which is located between two geographic regions of fauna, namely Asia and Australia, with the Wallacea line connecting the two regions. These conditions have made Indonesia one of the countries with the nickname of mega biodiversity in the world. Maluku is included in the geographical area of Australia with a group of islands spread from the north of Halmahera Island to the south of Southwest Maluku Regency, making Maluku rich in fauna potential, one of which is wild animals. However, hunting and illegal wildlife trade pose a serious threat to the preservation of wildlife in Indonesia and Maluku. Wild animals that are traded illegally based on various facts found in the field are caught from nature, not from captivity. Protected and endangered species of wild animals are also still traded freely. Departing from the problems found, community service activities with the topic "Socialization of Wildlife Protection Efforts to Preserve Biodiversity in Hutumuri Country, South Leitimur District, Ambon City. The activity will be held in November 2022. It is hoped that from the PKM activities, the community will understand and be made aware of the potential for natural wealth that they have, it should be preserved and maintained for both current and future generations.

Abstract

Agroforestry is a form of land use carried out by the community, namely a combination pattern of agricultural crops, plantations and forestry. Currently, agroforestry management practices have been widely implemented and provide many benefits both economically, ecologically and culturally. Waai Country, which is located in the Salahutu sub-district, Central Maluku Regency, generally has residents who earn their living as farmers and fishermen. People in Waai country still apply traditional agroforestry management patterns, namely dusung, which is a form of local wisdom in Maluku that is still maintained from generation to generation. The partners' priority problems are decreasing land productivity which directly affects land yields, lack of public interest, especially generations, in farming, and not enriching the types of forestry plants in the hamlets. The solution offered to partners is the realization and stages of activities carrying out extension activities, training activities and planting 100 MPTs (Multi Purpose Tree Species) plant saplings in the village, which will provide various results for the sustainability of the ecosystem and community economy.

Abstract

Green movement through environmental education at an early age can form a sustainable mindset and positive values, so that children will grow up with a high awareness to preserve nature. Activities based on direct experience, such as planting actions, increase children's understanding of the ecological function of trees and foster a sense of responsibility for the surrounding environment. The stages of implementing this activity include Preparation of interesting Materials, Preparation of Saplings, Preparation of Planting Locations, Initial Measurement of Children's Knowledge and Attitudes towards the Environment, Presentation of Materials accompanied by Evaluation of the Ability to Capture the Material presented, and Planting Actions. After the presentation of the material, the children experienced a change in understanding about who is responsible for protecting the environment and gave a positive response to the role and function of forests for life by asking questions and answering the questions given. In addition, children are motivated to carry out planting actions at the activity location and around their respective homes.

Abstract

TWA Pulau Pombo, designated as an ecotourism area, attracts numerous visitors due to its diverse natural and cultural attractions. However, the role of the local Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) has not been fully optimized. This community service program (PKM) aims to enhance the understanding of Pokdarwis members regarding the 3A components (Attraction, Amenity, Accessibility), Sapta Pesona, and tourism awareness. The program was implemented through a socialization approach using lectures and group discussions, accompanied by evaluation through pre-test and post-test methods. A total of 15 participants from the Pokdarwis of Tulehu Village took part in the activities and showed high enthusiasm during the sessions. The evaluation was conducted to measure participants’ level of understanding before and after the program. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ comprehension, as reflected in the increased post-test scores. Overall, the socialization program served as an essential platform to strengthen community understanding of tourism concepts, thereby fostering motivation and responsible participation in the sustainable development of TWA Pulau Pombo.
