Abstract

Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for term and preterm babies during the first six months of life. Exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months is recommended, followed by the addition of solid foods after six months of age. Unfortunately, there are several obstacles to breastfeeding, one of which is that breast milk does not flow smoothly. Breastfeeding mothers will feel stressed when their babies want to breastfeed but the flow of breast milk is blocked. Based on UNICEF and WHO data through the 2021 Global Breastfeeding Scorecard data, the level of breastfeeding remains lower than needed. to protect the health of mothers and children. In 2013-2018, 48% of newborns started breastfeeding within one hour of birth. Although this program has been running, there are still some mothers who have difficulty breastfeeding on the grounds that breast milk is not flowing smoothly. The purpose of the study was to determine the knowledge of breastfeeding mothers about lactation massage. This research method is descriptive. The population in this study was 77 respondents. The results of the study showed that mothers with less knowledge were 32 people (41.6%), mothers with sufficient knowledge were 16 people (20.8%) and mothers with good knowledge were 29 people (37.7%). The conclusion from the results of the study, there are still many postpartum mothers who do not understand about lactation massage, both its benefits and massage procedures. So it is hoped that after this study ends, every breastfeeding mother should better understand the benefits of lactation massage so that the problem of breast milk not flowing smoothly can be immediately resolved.

The average posttest was 2.10 with a standard deviation of 1.021. This shows that the mean posttest value is smaller than the mean pretest value. The results of the bivariate analysis using the T-Test obtained a p-value of 0.000 (p <0.05). This indicates that there is a significant difference in the average intensity of dysmenorrhea before and after the administration of endorphin massage in female students of the Social Studies Education Study Program at Pasir Pengaraian University

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding coverage in Rokan Hulu Regency remains stagnant at 56%, far below the national target of 80%. This low achievement is influenced by insufficient maternal nutrition knowledge, postpartum stress, and limited social support. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of lactation massage and nutrition education interventions in improving breast milk production and maternal knowledge. The research employed a mixed-method explanatory sequential design with a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test control group, followed by in-depth interviews. A total of 60 breastfeeding mothers with infants aged 0–6 months were selected through purposive sampling. Quantitative data were analyzed using paired t-test and independent t-test, while qualitative data were examined thematically. The results showed a significant increase in breast milk volume (≥20%) and maternal nutrition knowledge scores (≥25 points) in the intervention group compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Qualitative findings revealed that the intervention enhanced mothers’ confidence, reduced stress, and strengthened community support. This study concludes that combining lactation massage and nutrition education is effective in improving exclusive breastfeeding practices and should be integrated into primary healthcare services

Abstract

Anemia is a common health problem among adolescent girls, primarily caused by menstruation and insufficient iron intake. One potential non-pharmacological intervention to increase hemoglobin levels is the consumption of date fruits (Phoenix dactylifera), which are rich in iron, vitamins, and other essential minerals. This study aims to determine the effect of date fruit consumption on hemoglobin levels among female adolescents at SMK Negeri 2 Kepenuhan, Rokan Hulu Regency. This research used a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design, specifically a one group pre-test and post-test. The sample consisted of 60 female students with hemoglobin levels below 12 g/dL who were not menstruating during the intervention. The intervention involved giving 7 dates daily for 5 consecutive days. Hemoglobin levels were measured before and after the intervention using the Easy Touch GCHb device. The results showed an increase in the average hemoglobin level from 10.87 g/dL before the intervention to 13.36 g/dL after the intervention. A paired t-test statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the pre- and post-intervention measurements. These findings suggest that regular consumption of date fruits can effectively raise hemoglobin levels. In conclusion, the consumption of date fruits has a significant effect on increasing hemoglobin levels in adolescent girls and can serve as a natural alternative for preventing anemia. This research is expected to provide a reference for developing school-based nutrition improvement programs, particularly in efforts to prevent anemia among adolescents.
