Abstract

PPenelitian descriptive qualitative ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa alih code (code switching) yang digunakan oleh seorang guru sebagai sebuah teknik mengajar Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing di kelas X IS4 SMA Negeri 1 Negara tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah seorang guru Bahasa Inggris wanita yang mengajar kelas X IS4. Peneliatian ini adalah peneliatian deskriptif qualitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rekaman MP3, catatan dan lembar observasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan ada tiga tipe alih code (code switching) yang digunakan oleh guru yaitu intra-sentential code-switching (42,7%), inter-sentential code switching (25,7%), and inter-personal code switching (31,6%). Ada tiga fungsi dari alih kode (code switching) yang digunakan oleh guru yaitu menekankan(60,2%), menginstruksi (1,2%), mengklarifikasi(19,3%), fungsi sociolinguistik (1,2%), dan mendapatkan perhatian (18,1%). Alasan penggunaan alih code (code switching) yaitu untuk mendapatkan perhatian siswa, membuat lelucon, menjelaskan konsep, memberikan instruksi, membuat konsep dengan siswa.Kata Kunci : Alih Kode, Tipe Alih Kode, Fungsi Alih Kode, Alasan Alih Kode, Bahasa Inggris Sebagai Bahasa Asing This descriptive qualitative study aimed at analyzing code switching used by a teacher as a technique of Teaching English as a Foreign Language in class X IS4 of SMA Negeri 1 Negara in the academic year 2013/2014. The subject of this study was a female English teacher of class X IS4. This study was a descriptive qualitative research. The instruments used in this study were MP3 recorder, a field note and an observation sheet. The result of this study showed that there were three types of code switching used by the teacher. They were intra-sentential code-switching (42.7%), inter-sentential code switching (25.7%), and inter-personal code switching (31.6%). There was five functions of code switching used by teacher, that are emphasis function (60.2%), instruction function (1.2%), clarification function (19.3%), Sociolinguistic play function (1.2%) and attention function (18.1%) . The reasons of using code switching were attracting the student’s attention, making a joke, explaining the concept, giving instruction, and establishing the contact with the students.keyword : Code Switching, Types of Code Switching, Functions of Code Switching, Reasons of Code Switching, English as a Foreign Language

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kecakapan menulis siswa melalui penerapan teknik Collaborative Writing dikombinasikan dengan Media (Anime Pop-Up Book). Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIIB SMP Negeri 1 Negara di tahun akademik 2013/ 2014. Subyek terdiri dari 35 siswa; 26 perempuan dan 9 laki-laki. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan observasi awal yang menunjukkan bahwa siswa sering memiliki masalah dalam menulis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang terdiri dari dua siklus. Beberapa instrumen digunakan dalam proses pengumpulan data, yaitu: tes, catatan harian peneliti, dan kuisioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata siswa pada pre-test adalah 67,68, kemuadian mengalami peningkatan menjadi 72,86 pada posy-test 1, dan 85,00 pada post-test 2. Hasil test juga sejalan dengan peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam keempat sub-skills dalam menulis, yaitu; isi (content), organisasi (organization), perbendaharaan kata (vocabulary), dan penggunaan bahasa (language use). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan teknik Collaborative Writing dikombinasikan dengan Media (Anime Pop-Up Book) dapat meningkatkan kecakapan menulis siswa.Kata Kunci : Kecakapan menulis, Collaborative writing, Media This study aimed at improving the students’ writing competency through the implementation of Collaborative Writing technique combined with Media (Anime Pop-up Book). The subjects of the study were the students of class VIIB of SMP Negeri 1 Negara in the academic year 2013/2014. The class consisted of 35 students; 26 females and 9 males. This study was carried out based on the preliminary observation which indicated that students often faced difficulties in their writing. The study was designed in a form of classroom action research, comprising two cycles. Instruments used to collect the data were: test, researcher’s diary, and questionnaire. Data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The result of the data showed that the mean score of students in pre-test was 67.68 in which it improved to 72.86 in post-test 1 and 85.00 in post-test 2. It was also in line with the students’ improvement in the four sub-skills of writing; content, organization, vocabulary, and language use. Based on the result of the study, it could be concluded that the application of Collaborative Writing technique combined with Media (Anime Pop-up Book) could improve the students’ writing competency.keyword : Writing competency, Collaborative writing, Media

Abstract

Penelitian in bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kesalahan interlingual dan intralingual dalam penggunaan simple past tense pada teks recount. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam descriptive qualitative research. Subjek penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas 8 SMP N 1 Banjar. Data yang diperoleh bersumber dari beberapa instrumen, yaitu tes menulis dan interview. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada 749 kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa dalam tulisannya. Jenis error yang paling banyak muncul pada tulisan siswa adalah kesalahan intralingual dengan frekuensi kemunculan sebesar 445 atau 59.42 %. Sedangkan kesalahan interlingual sebesar 304 atau 40.58 %. Penyebab dari kesalahan siswa adalah kurangnya pengalaman siswa terhadap bahasa target dalam proses penguasaan bahasa inggris dan siswa tidak terbiasa dengan struktur kalimat dalam bahasa inggris, sehingga siswa memilih untuk menggunakan bahasa pertama dalam menyusun kalimat.Kata Kunci : kesalahan interlingual, kesalahan intralingual, simple past tense, teks recount. This study intended to identify the interlingual and intralingual errors in using simple past tense in recount text. This study was a descriptive qualitative research. The eighth grade students of SMP N 1 Banjar were subjects of this study. The data were collected by using several instruments, namely: writing task and interview guide. The results of the study showed that there were total 749 errors committed by the students in their writing. The type of error that most frequently occurred in students’ writings was intralingual error with 445 occurrences or 59.42 %. Meanwhile interlingual error was 304 occurrences or 40.58 %. The causes of student’ errors were mostly their limited experience about the target language as they were in the process of mastering English and they were not familiar with sentence structures of English so that they preferred to use their mother’ tongue in constructing the sentences.keyword : interlingual error, intralingual error, simple past tense, recount text.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh pasangan suami istri Nyentana di Kabupaten Tabanan dalam percakapan mereka sehari-hari. Penelitian ini dirancang dalam bentuk penelitian kualitatif yang hasil dari penelitiannya dianalisa secara deskriptif. Peneliti, perekam suara, catatan, dan pedoman wawancara digunakan sebagai instrumen. Empat pasangan suami istri Nyentana di Kabupaten Tabanan digunakan sebagai subyek dalam penelitian ini; pasangan pertama berasal dari Kediri, pasangan kedua berasal dari Marga, pasangan ketiga bersal dari Penebel, dan pasangan terakhir berasal dari Kerambitan. Teknik pemilihan subyek adalah purposive sampling. Tabanan dipilih sebagai tempat penelitian ini, karena Tabanan merupakan kabupaten yang mensahkan sistem perkawinan Nyentana di Bali. Data yang didapatkan diproses dalam bentuk tabel yang terdiri dari beberapa kelompok dan didiskusikan secara deskriptif. Melalui analisa data deskriptif, hasilnya ditemukan bahwa pasangan suami istri Nyentana menggunakan dua jenis strategi komunikasi, yaitu (1) bentuk perintah langsung dan (2) bentuk perintah tidak langsung. Hasil analisa juga menemukan bahwa wanita dalam pernikahan Nyentana menggunakan bentuk perintah tidak langsung lebih sering daripada laki-laki sebagai strategi komunikasi mereka dan laki-laki menyatakan bentuk perintah langsung lebih banyak daripada wanita dalam memberikan perintah. Sementara, dominasi istri terhadap suami tidak tampak dalam perkawinan Nyentana ini. Kata Kunci : Strategi Komunikasi, Nyentana, Pasangan Suami Istri This study’s aimed to determine the communication strategies used by Nyentana married couples in Tabanan regency on their everyday conversations. The study was designed in form of qualitative research in which all research’s results were analyzed descriptively. Observer, voice recorder, notes, and interview guide were used as the instruments. Four Nyentana married couples in Tabanan regency were used as the participants of this study; the first couple is from Kediri, the second is from Marga, the third couple is from Penebel, and the last couple is from Kerambitan. Tabanan was chosen as the setting of this study because it is the regency which legalizes Nyentana marriage system in Bali. The data obtained were processed into tables in several categories and discussed descriptively. Through descriptive data analysis of Tabanan Nyentana married couples, it was found that the couples used two kinds of communication strategies, namely (1) direct imperative and (2) indirect imperative. It was also found that females in Nyentana marriage used indirect imperative as their communication strategy more often than the males when they gave commands. In contrast, the males of Nyentana marriage expressed direct imperative more than females in giving commands. Meanwhile, the wives’ domination towards the husbands did not appear in this Nyentana marriage. keyword : Communication Strategies, Nyentana, Married Couples

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis jenis strategi kesantunan yang digunakan dalam menerapkan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter yang dilakukan oleh anggota pasraman Adi Widya. Hal ini juga bertujuan untuk menganalisis motif anggota pasraman Adi Widya menggunakan strategi kesantunan dalam kaitannya dengan usia. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, pencatatan dan wawancara, sedangkan proses analisis data dilakukan sesuai dengan Brown dan Levinson Strategi Kesopanan (1987), dan delapan belas Pendidikan Karakter (Kemendiknas, 2010). Subyek penelitian ini adalah 83 anggota pasraman adi widya. Data yang dikumpulkan dikelompokkan dan dianalisis berdasarkan Brown dan Levinson Kesopanan Strategi ini yaitu: Bald-on Record, Kesopanan Positif, Kesopanan Negatif dan Off-Record. Selanjutnya data juga dianalisis melalui Brown dan Levinson teori kesopanan tentang jarak sosial antara pembicara dan pendengar yang ditentukan oleh perbedaan usia. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa strategi Kesopanan Positif sebagian besar digunakan oleh anggota pasraman Adi Widya dalam melaksanakan pendidikan karakter. Kesopanan Negatif adalah yang paling jarang digunakan oleh anggota. Motif dianalisis dengan mengkategorikan anggota dengan usia tua dan muda. Ditemukan bahwa ketika anggota tua berkomunikasi dengan anggota muda strategi kesantunan Positif sebagian besar digunakan dalam menerapkan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter. Sementara itu, Off-record, strategi Kesantunan Negatif dan Bald-on Record digunakan dalam frekuensi yang sama. Anggota yang berumur lebih tua banyak digunakan strategi kesantunan positif dalam menerapkan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter bagi anak muda dan dengan usia yang sama. Kata Kunci : Kata kunci: kesopanan, karakter pendidikan, pasraman This study attempted to analyze the types of politeness strategies used in implementing values of characters education performed by members of Pasraman Adi Widya. It also aimed at analyzing the motive of members Pasraman Adi Widya used those kinds of politeness strategies in the relation with age. The data were collected through observation, recording and interview, while the process of data analysis was done in accordance with Brown and Levinson Politeness Strategy (1987), eighteen Character Education (Kemendiknas, 2010). The subjects of this study were 83 members of Pasraman adi widya. The data collected were grouped and analyzed based on Brown and Levinson Politeness Strategy’s namely: Bald on Record, Positive Politeness, negative Politeness and Off-Record. Furthermore the data were also analyzed through Brown and Levinson politeness theory about the social distance between speaker and hearer which determined by the difference of age. The result of the data analysis showed that Positive Politeness strategy was mostly used by members of Pasraman Adi Widya in implementing character education. Negative Politeness was the least used by members. The motive analyzed by categorized the members with elder and young age. It was found that when elder members communicate with younger members Positive politeness strategy was mostly used in implementing values of characters education. Meanwhile Bald-on Record, Off-record, and Negative politeness strategy used in the same frequency. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan pengetahuan semester ketiga EED remaja 'tradisional istilah rumah tangga Bali dan pengaruh lingkungan terhadap pengetahuan tentang ketiga remaja semester EED. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester II Jurusan Bahasa Inggris Pendidikan. Mereka adalah dua kelas. Mereka adalah 2E dan 2H kelas. Jumlah siswa di kedua kelas adalah 54 siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah beberapa tes pilihan dan panduan wawancara. Jumlah pertanyaan adalah 35 pertanyaan. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa mendapat skor lebih dari 60. Pada 2E kelas, 22 siswa mendapat skor lebih dari 60 dan 7 siswa mendapat nilai kurang dari 60. Di kelas 2H, 22 siswa juga mendapat skor lebih dari 60 dan tiga siswa mendapat nilai kurang dari 60. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mereka akrab dengan istilah-istilah tersebut.Kata Kunci : Remaja, Kosakata, and Balinese traditional terms This research aimed at describing the third semester EED teenagers’ knowledge of Balinese traditional house hold terms and the influence of environment to the knowledge of the third semester EED teenagers. The subjects were the second semester students of English Education Department. They were two classes. They were 2E and 2H classes. The number of the students in both classes was 54 students. This research was a survey research. The instruments of this research were multiple choice test and an interview guide. The number of questions was 35 questions. The findings of this research showed that most of the students got score more than 60. In 2E class, 22 students got score more than 60 and 7 students got score less than 60. In 2H class, 22 students also got score more than 60 and three students got score less than 60. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalis implementasi dari pembelajaran berbasis masalah dalam proses belajar mengajar bahasa Inggris berdasarkan rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran yang digunakan oleh tiga guru bahasa Inggris di SMP Negeri 2 Amlapura. Terdapat dua analisis yang difokuskan pada implementasi dari pembelajaran berbasis masalah. Terdapat rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran yang digunakan oleh guru- guru bahasa Inggris dalam proses belajar mengajar dan bagaimana pembelajaran berbasis masalah diimplementasikan di dalam kelas. Lembar observasi dan pedoman wawancara digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data. Data dianalisis secara kualitatif untuk menunjukkan implementasi dari metode pembelajaran berbasis masalah dalam proses belajar mengajar oleh tiga guru bahasa Inggris. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tiga guru bahasa Inggris tidak konsisten di dalam mengimplentasikan metode pembelajaran berbasis masalah. Terdapat beberapa aktifitas-aktifitas yang guru tidak lakukan ketika mengimplementasikan metode pembelajaran berbasis masalah. Selain itu, guru- guru bahasa Inggris menemukan beberapa masalah ketika mengimplemtasikan metode pembelajaran berbasis masalah di dalam proses belajar mengajar mereka. There were two analyses that were focused on implementation of problem based learning. There were the lesson plans used by the English teachers in teaching learning processes and how the problem based learning was implemented in the classroom. Observation sheet and interview guide were used to collect the data. The data were analyzed qualitatively to show the implementation of problem based learning method in teaching learning processes by the three English teachers. The result of the study showed that the three English teachers were not consistent in implementing problem based learning method. There were activities that the teachers did not do when implementing problem based learning method. Besides that, the English teachers encountered problems when implementing problem based learning method in their teaching learning processes.keyword : problem based learning method, lesson plan, teaching learning process

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan kategori dari interaksi kelas yang terjadi di kelas sebelas SMA N 4 Singarja berdasarkan Foreign Language Interaction Analysis (FLINT) System, kategori yang paling sering muncul, dan level dari kompetensi siswa setelah proses belajar mengajar. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah dua orang guru dan siswa di kelas XI MIA 2 dan XI MIA 3. Peneliatian ini dirancang menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian menjunjukkan bahwa: (1) seluruh kategori dari interaksi kelas berdasarkan FLINT system ditemukan selama proses belajar mengajar. Kategori-kategori kersebut adalah Deals with Feeling, Praise and Encourages, Jokes, Uses Ideas of Student, Repeats Student Response Verbatim, Asks questions, Gives information, Corrects without Rejection, Gives Direction, Direct Pattern Drills, Criticizes Student Behavior, Criticizes Student Response, Student Response Specific, Student Response Choral, Student Response Open-Ended or Student Initiated, Silence, Silence AV, Confusion Work-Oriented, Confusion non work-oriented, Laughter, Uses of Native Language and Nonverbal. (2) Kategori dari teacher talk yang sering terjadi adalah asking question sedangkan kategori dari student talk yang sering muncul adalah student response, open ended or student initiated. (3) rata-rata nilai dari kompetensi siswa dari seluruh observasi adalah 79. Itu berarti kategori dari nilai tersebut adalah B-. Walaupun hasil dari observasi menujukkan bahwa student talk lebih dari teacher talk, namun penggunaan bahasa ibu sangat sering digunakan ketika observasi.Kata Kunci : Foreign Language Interaction (FLINT) system, Interaksi Kelas, Kompetensi Bahasa Inggris, Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris This study aimed at finding the classroom interaction categories occurring in the eleventh grade of SMA N 4 Singaraja based on Foreign Language Interaction Analysis (FLINT) System, category which most frequently occurred, and level of the student’s competency after teaching and learning process. The subjects of the study were two teachers and students in XI MIA 2 and XI MIA 3. This study was designed by using descriptive qualitative research. The result of the research shows that: (1) all categories of classroom interaction based on FLINT system exist during the teaching learning process. Those are Deals with Feeling, Praise and Encourages, Jokes, Uses Ideas of Student, Repeats Student Response Verbatim, Asks questions, Gives information, Corrects without Rejection, Gives Direction, Direct Pattern Drills, Criticizes Student Behavior, Criticizes Student Response, Student Response Specific, Student Response Choral, Student Response Open-Ended or Student Initiated, Silence, Silence AV, Confusion Work-Oriented, Confusion non work-oriented, Laughter, Uses of Native Language and Nonverbal. (2) The teacher talk category that mostly occurs is asking question while student talk category that mostly appears is student response, open ended or student initiated (3) the average score of the students’ competency from all of the observation is 79. It means the category of the average score was B-. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan Teknik Komik Berwarna dapat meningkatkan kompetensi siswa dalam menulis paragraf narasi di kelas VIII A SMP N 1 Susut pada tahun akademik 2013/2014. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII A SMP N 1 Susut pada semester kedua di tahun akademik 2013/2014. Jumlah subjek adalah 32 siswa, terdiri dari 13 laki-laki dan 19 siswa perempuan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari empat langkah yaitu: perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Ada dua jenis data kuantitatif dan kualitatif yang dikumpulkan dalam penelitian ini. Data kuantitatif adalah data numerik yang diperoleh dari hasil pre-test, post-test 1, dan post-test 2. Hasil penelitian ini dipresentasikan oleh skor yang diperoleh oleh siswa di setiap langkah. Data kualitatif adalah data deskriptif yang diambil dari peneliti buku harian di setiap sesi dalam setiap siklus dan kuesioner. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Teknik Komik Berwarna dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi siswa terutama dalam menulis paragraf narasi.Kata Kunci : Menulis, Paragraf Narasi, Teknik Komik Berwarna This study aimed at finding out whether the use of Colored Comic Strips Technique can improve students’ competency in writing a narrative paragraph of class VIII A of SMP N 1 Susut in academic year 2013/2014. The subjects of this study were the students of class VIII A of SMP N 1 Susut on the second semester in academic year 2013/2014. The total number of the subject was 32 students, consisting of 13 male and 19 females students. This study was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four steps namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. There were two kinds of data, quantitative and qualitative data gathered in this study. The quantitative data were the numerical data gained from the result of pre-test, post-test 1, and post-test 2. The results of this study were presented by the scores gained by the students in each step. The qualitative data were descriptive data taken from the researchers’ diary in every session in each cycle and the questionnaire. The data were analyzed descriptively. Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that Colored Comic Strips Technique can improve the students’ competency especially in writing a narrative paragraph. keyword : Writing, Narrative Paragraph, Colored Comic Strips Technique

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan strategi pengajaran yang digunakan untuk siswa berkebutuhan khusus, yang menderita ADHD di kelas Toddler (inklusi) yang mencangkup perencanaan, implementasi dan penilaian yang di gunakan khusus untuk anak ADHD di TK Aura Sukma Insani dan pencapaian hasil belajar siswa yang di ambil melalui analisis rapot semester ganjil. Penelitian ini menggunakan model penelitian deskriptif dengan subyek penelitian yaitu siswa ADHD yang berada di kelas Toddler di TK Aura Sukma Insani Singaraja, sementara obyek penelitian ini adalah strategi pembelajaran yang digunakan untuk anak ADHD. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode wawancara dan analisis dokumen. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data ditemukan bahwa: (1) untuk perencanaan pembelajaran, guru melakukan evaluasi dari kebutuhan siswa kemudian memilih strategy yang sesuai berdasarkan kebutuhan siswa dan menselaraskannya dengan program pendidikan individu (IEP). Untuk pelaksanaan pembelajaran, guru mengguakan 2 sistem yaitu system Pull-Out dan system Integrasi/Inklusi. Untuk penilaian hasil belajar, guru menggunakan penilaian mingguan, penilaian bulanan dan penilaian semester (2) pencapaian hasil belajar siswa yang dianalis dari rapot semester menunjukkan bahwa pada aspek kognitif dan affektif, siswa menunjukkan perkembangan yang baik, namun untuk aspek psikomotor siswa masih perlu bimbingan guru dan orang tua. Untuk laporan perkembangan pendidikan karakter, terdapat 10 karakter yang mulai terliht dan 8 karakter yang sudah mulai berkembang.Kata Kunci : Strategi Pembelajaran, Siswa ADHD, Kelas Inklusi This study aimed at describing the teaching strategies for ADHD student in Toddler Inclusive Class including planning, implementation and assessment used for ADHD student in Toddler Inclusive Class of Aura Sukma Insani Kindergarten, Singaraja and Learning Achievement for ADHD student which were taken from student final report. This study used a descriptive research design by involving the ADHD student in Toddler Inclusive Class. The objects of this study were the teaching strategies for ADHD student. The data were collected by conducting interviews and document analysis. Based on the result of the data analysis, it were found that (1) For planning, the teacher did an evaluation on the Childs’ Individual Needs; Selecting appropriate instructional practices which appropriate with the student characteristic and needs; and Integrating appropriate practices within an IEP to meet the students’ needs. For implementation, the teacher used 2 systems; Pull-Out System and Integrated/Inclusive System. The assessment, it were in the form of weekly report, monthly report and semester report. (2) Students’ learning achievement showed a good improvement in cognitive and affective domain. However, he still needs more exercise in psychomotor domain from teachers and parents. In addition, for the report of character education development, there were 10 characters seen and 8 characters developing.keyword : Teaching Strategies, ADHD Student, Inclusive Class
