Abstract

According to the vision and mission Rokan Hilir Regency which one of them is to prepare self to educational society life, so it need to design a public library which is economical in using the nature resource, minimize the negatif impact, also be able toimproving the human life quality. Library is a space, a part of a building or the building it self which is used to keep books and other derivative which are usually kept according to thecertain formation to be read, not to be sold. The nature phenomenon which is menacing this earth is a global warming. To reduce that impact so we choose the green architecture as the approach in designing the public library. One of them is about the thermal pleasure, by set the site and building mass which can give the thermal pleasure to the user of public library.Because, the thermal is a thermal condition which can be felt by human, not by object, animal, and architecture, but is conditioned by the environment and the objects around thearchitecture or the mind condition of somebody who can expressing his satisfaction to the thermal environment. This public library is presented with the green architecture conceptwhich be expected will be used in this present and the future, for the better continuity of life. The design method which be used in this public library is the six criterion of the Green Building Index (GBI). (1) Energy efficiency; (2) The environmental quality in the space; (4) Material and resource; (5) Water efficiency; (6) Innovation. From the theory and method which be used in this design reaching the conclusion that in the strive to set the site and the building mass as the strive to reach the pleasure, we apply the green architecture in this public library design. To reach the thermal pleasure to the public library user, we do the strive to set the site and mass of the building by applying six criterion of Green Building Index (GBI) from the green architecture.Key Word: Public Library, Green Architecture, Thermal Pleasure

Abstract

The dynamics of graphic design activities are always closely related to technological developments and creative industry. In this digital era, people are more interested in visual information. Not a few of the people who are interested in pursuing the world of creative industries, one of them is graphic design. Graphic design is able to provide opportunities for the formation of new professions and create design ideas that support the progress of the creative industry. Pekanbaru is one of the right locations to built a Graphic Design Education and Training with the aim of attracting the interest of the community to develop creativity and skills in the field of graphic design. So that the community is able to create their potential to work and even compete competently. The Graphic Design Education and Training is a forum that accommodates inspiration and studies the science of graphic design as a skill, as well as a demand. Graphic design emphasizes expressive creativity, so Expressionist Architecture completes the identity and character of the building of Graphic Design Education and Training. Besides having educational goals, this design also displays visuals that are able to express imagination. The research methods used include field data collection, literature studies and empirical studies. The results of designed with the Infinity concept which adopted the form and meaning of the application principles from Expressionist Architecture. The attractive form of the building, the atmosphere of the form created by the use of building colors that inspire enthusiasm, and use of variative elements of material that play a role in conveying the message of the building's meaning. Abstract

River in Kampar Regency have enormous potential for freshwater cultivation in the cultivation of ponds (fresh water) and fresh floating nets (floating nets). However, the amount of agricultural sector production has not been evenly distributed in all sub-districts. To discuss the issue Kab. Kampar as the largest producer of freshwater fish in Riau, requires high school education facilities that are requested in the fisheries sector. This supports adding and maintaining human resources with added value to the fisheries sector. As a design strategy at the Fisheries High School in Kampar using field surveys, literature studies, and comparative studies. Based on the data that has been obtained, it is then processed with the principles of metaphoric architecture so as to produce a new concept that is applied in the College of Fisheries. The use of metaphoric architecture can bring up visual characters that will be applied to the form of mass. The concept of the Fisheries High School uses a form of wood used as a fishing gear. This choice represents the link between the function of lukah as a tool for catching fish and schools as a means of taking knowledge.Keyword: Fisheries School, Metaphor Architecture, Fish Trap

Abstract

Riau University has many student organizations. But there is no adequate facility and place to do some student activities. Therefore, it is required a place to do those activities which is called Student Center. Student Center can be a place to develop their interest, aspiration and creativity. Besides, it can facilitate them in doing some student activities. This building applies tropical architecture approach by Georg Lippsmeier. The principles of this approach are in the form of the building orientation, the ventilation, the use of sun protection, the vegetation and the roof shape. It also applies the concept of dynamic activity. It takes the students’ character who always active, enthusiasm and energetic in the organizational activity. This concept is applied to the architectural aspect by applying dynamic principles, namely: transformation, starting and ending point, direction and flow.Keywords: Student Center, Tropical Architecture, Dynamic Activity

Abstract

As the era develops, youth activity becomes more and more various. Unfortunately, it is not well-provided as we lack some facilities. One of the facilities needed to solve this problem is Youth Centre. It is a centre unit where young people can have such activities concerning retreat, innovation and talent’s growth. Young People, as we know having bold and dynamic characters, tend to pursue freedom, have much curiosity to try something nwe, and be active in social life. Therefore, in designing a suitable youth centre for them, use character and mosaic concept as a ethod to facilitate their activities.this concept represent their characters in finding their own talents and interest with changing rates and colors which shows their differences. By using this, find out some more activities needed in sports, arts and social which can affect the textures, colors, circulation and any other facilities. Abstract

Intellectual dissabilities school is an institution of formal education that caters for children with mental retardation. To solve the problem of designing a room needed by the children with intellectual dissabilities, is with architectural behavior approach for the children with intellectual dissabilities. This research uses the theory of behavioral architecture, the theory of children with intellectual dissabilities behavior in children withintellectual dissabilities learning books and theory of optimal quality room. The design method is using concept of optimal quality room. The optimal quality room includes the activity of the children with intellectual dissabilities, magnitude characteristics of children with intellectual dissabilities, accessibility, site zone, colour, temperature and lighting, sizeand shape, furniture and its arrangement. Abstract

People need entertainment, one of them is have recreation to recreation park. Recreation park in Pekanbaru city is very minimal and limited. The lack of recreational park in Pekanbaru is the reason to built a Theme Park. Sumatra Fairytale Theme Park takes on fairytale as a theme of the park. Tale is one of Indonesia's cultural heritage is passed down through each generation. Fairy tales are drawn from five provinces, namely: Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau, Jambi and West Sumatra. The design pattern and space in order to be considered because the activity is in the room or indoor. The completion of the architectural design theme Postmodern architecture of choice for solving existing problems. The principles of postmodern architecture by Charles Jencks, namely: double coding, hybrid, and the metaphor became the foundation for creating Sumatra Fairytale Theme Park. In this design concept used pleasure and fantasy concepts (fun and fantasy). Abstract

Special school for the deaf in Siak is an children educational facility with hearing impairment in siak. Deaf limitations in impairment of hearing or in receiving information verbally make vision a major factor in information gathering. The design of special deaf schools in Siak is very necessary because the special schools in siak are still mixed which is serving many categories of people with disabilities so that the design and special educational facilities for deaf children are not prioritized especially in paying attention to the character and behavior of the deaf. In this case, the design of special deaf schools uses the behavior mapping method of person-center maps in observing deaf behavior and the application principle of deafspace guidelines as design ideas namely, space and proximity, sensory reach, mobility proximity, light and color, accoustics. Through the concept of deaf character building can meet the needs of the deaf in accordance with the patterns of behavior and character of the deaf in terms of personality, language, physical and emotional and social aspects.Keywords: Siak, Special Schools, Deaf, Deafspace Guidelines

Abstract

West Sumatra is one of the provinces in Indonesia with a lot of natural potential that can be used as a natural and cultural tourism. Padang as the capital is the economic center also known as the city of art and culture. To improve and develop cultural tourism, needed a tourist spot that showing, conserve and kept Minangkabau culture. This cultural tourism will added value for tourists to knowing and understand about Minangkabau culture. MinangkabauTheme Park as a theme park to be a place of entertainment or recreation that presents attractions and other events for visitors. Approximatin methode of Minangkabau theme can make visitors knowing and understand about Minangkabau culture. The design of Theme Park will apply the Minangkabau House approach in order to create an old Minangkabau atmosphere and apply characteristics of Minangkabau house that can be showed. Based on function and theme of design produce the concept of "ALam takambang jadi guru". This concept is applied in the design of the zone, the pattern and the mass order, the mass formation, the circulation and landscape getting a place that furnishes the cultural tourism in Padang. The design of Minangkabau Theme Park is divided into several areas: reception area, show area, traditional game area, minangkabau art learning area, culinary area, inn area, mosque area, ATM center area, service area and parking area. Abstract

Chinese cultures are still implemented and applied in Bagansiapiapi as an expression of worship and gratitude to the ancestors. These chinese festivals are celebrated in Bagansiapiapi cause the culture and history of Chinese are known by the local people, both in domestic and abroad. But the problems are the supporting facilities and the places to accommodate these activities are in a low number. Because of that, Chinese Cultural Center in Bagansiapiapi need a building as the activities center that focuses on Chinese culture and to support cultural facilities, to make sure people known about Chinese history, where pedigree is from, and the culture. This research used contemporary architecture approach which suited by the present time, and the Chinese architectural buildings will be able to reflect the contemporary Chinese building without losing the characteristics of the building itself. Through the concept of "Lion Dance" or as known as Barongsai, the building can demonstrate the movement patterns of the Barongsai itself. It also used the Chinese elements including the use of a courtyard, emphasis on the shape of the roof, open structural elements, and the use of colors on the buildings.keywords: Chinese Culture Center, Bagansiapiapi, Contemporary Architecture
