Abstract

To teach science is basically to teach about everything in the universe. Sincetheir early age children could actually be introduced to the nature, and theirengagement in or observation of any kind of natural process may help them to enrichtheir experience and sense of science. In this sense, therefore, the use of naturalresources is important as it will also allow them to do some experiments, to furtherexplore and investigate their natural surrounding. These ability and skills areundoubtedly of a great usefulness for and in their future. Within the currentKindergarten Curriculum, science teaching is a part of the cognitive developmentenhancement. Unfortunately, in teaching science to their young learners, often, teachers adopt teaching strategies which do not suit their stage of development, forexample through the introduction of abstract scientific concept. In fact, children ofearly age think in a concrete way, and therefore, to teach them more effectively, is tosome extent to bring the subject matter to a more concrete way. This communityservice program aims to introduce the use of used objects as materials of educationaltoys, commonly used as science teaching media by the kindergarten teachers.Kata kunci : Taman kanak-kanak, Pembelajaran Sains, limbah, APE

Abstract

Purpose – The study aims to explore the differences in social skills between children who used the edutainment method with the game and a multimedia approach. Cards and treatment are the value of social skills in children’s reports.Design/methods/approach – The experimental method was designed with a treatment design one-shot case study. The pretest score was taken from the report cards that the child had previously received. Social skill score outcomes were taken after the treatment was completed.Findings – The results showed no significant differences in the social skills of children who were given the game approach edutainment method with children who were given the multimedia approach edutainment method. However, the average difference in the game approach and multimedia approach scores only has a value of 1,37500, so the difference is insignificant. These two treatments differ significantly from the child’s report card scores. The game approach has a difference of 4.27536 and sig 0.011 < 0.05; for the multimedia approach, it has a difference of 3.79167 and sig 0.028 <0.05. So it can be concluded that the edutainment method has a positive influence.Research implications/limitations – The teacher must know the child’s social skills so that he can choose the proper method of learning. The teacher must pay attention to the relationship between the characteristics possessed by each child and the learning method to be used. The teacher can use the game edutainment method in learning.Practical implications – Social skills can be built from several factors. The influencing factor is edutainment learning. This learning allows children to interact with other children and be able to re-communicate the activities they have done.Originality/value – This research is updated to explore the variables affecting children’s social skills. The independent variable used is the edutainment learning method with two approaches, namely multimedia and games. Paper type Research paper

Abstract

Early childhood education is an important foundation for a child's future development. For this reason, when learning at the early childhood education level, teachers are needed who have professional commitment in carry-ing out their duties. Teachers who have professional commitment will be able to display optimal performance for early childhood learning. There are many factors that influence professional commitment, one of which is job satisfaction. Job satisfaction factors are the topic of study in this research. This research aims to determine the relationship between job satisfaction and professional commitment in early childhood education teachers.  This research was conducted using quantitative methods. The sampling technique for this research uses convenience. The number of research subjects was 120 Early Childhood Education teachers. Data were collected using a psy-chological scale developed by the research team. The psychological scale consists of a job satisfaction scale and a professional commitment scale. Data analysis was carried out using the Pearson Correlation analysis tech-nique. The research results show that there is a significant positive relationship between job satisfaction and professional commitment in early childhood education teachers. The results of the correlation analysis show that the higher the job satisfaction, the higher the professional commitment. The novelty of this research is that there is still limited research regarding the relationship between job satisfaction and professional commitment among early childhood teachers. Several previous studies discussing job satisfaction and professional commitment used research subjects, such as nurses, auditor, employees and teachers at higher education levels.
