Abstract

How glorious it is to be a memorizer of the Quran because it is placed by Allah SWT in a glorious place and can practice the Quran in daily life, but if it is not based on a strong motivation then this noble activity cannot be realized properly. This study aims to analyze the motivation of students at the Rumah Qur’an Tarqiyah in memorizing the Quran. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Sources of data were taken from five informants through in-depth interviews selected by purposive sampling technique, all informants were students who were taking part in the Quran memorization program at the Rumah Qur’an Tarqiyah. All interviews were analyzed thematically, used the Miles and Huberman technique. The research findings show seven student motivations in memorizing the Quran. The seven motivations are: i) wanting to keep the Quran, ii) getting intercession, iii) giving glory to parents, iv) wanting to be a hafiz that airs on television, v) parents’ encouragement, vi) teachers’ encouragement, vii) memorizing more the surah of the Quran. The results of this study are used as initial data for future researchers in examining this topic with different contexts and issues.

Abstract

The role of parents in the family is needed in children's education. As times progress, parents have challenges in educating children in the family. The aim of this study is to analyze what is the challenge for parents to educate children's morals in Muslim families. This research uses the method qualitative case study approach. Data sources were taken from four informants through in-depth interviews consisting of traditional leaders, clerics, Islamic religious education teachers, and community leaders who were selected using the technique of purposive sampling. All interview results were analyzed using techniques Analysis Interactive Model Milles & Huberman. Analysis results show that there are five challenges for parents in educating children's morals in Muslim families. The five challenges are: i) The high volume of parents' work, ii) the low knowledge of parents about parenting, iii) the strong currents of globalization, iv) the challenges of modern life, v) the low knowledge of parents about the Islami religion. Research result this can be used as information for the community to be able to find solutions to family problems.

Abstract

Arabic is one of the subjects studied at the State Aliyah Madrasah. However, Arabic is only taught in a limited number of hours, as a result, problems arise in learning Arabic where students find it difficult to understand learning Arabic. So, it is necessary to do a study to identify these problems. This research aims to identify the problems of learning Arabic in the Three Cities of Padang Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) of West Sumatra. This study used a qualitative method with the type of case study, data sources were taken from ten informants through direct interviews using a set of interview protocols. All data were analyzed thematically using NVivo 12 software. The research findings found six themes regarding students' problems in learning Arabic. The six themes are i) differences in educational background, ii) low vocabulary mastery, iii) lack of teacher initiative to develop an Arabic-language environment, iv) lack of language labs, v) less varied learning methods, and vi) unsupportive environment. The results of this study can be used as initial data for future researchers in studying this problem in different contexts.

Abstract

Islamic studies in universities are places for self-development in Islamic way towards Islamic morality. However, not all students are interested in participating this activity if it is not driven by strong desire and personal motivation. This study aims to analyze what motivates students to participate in Islamic studies in university. Therefore, this research is conducted by qualitative method with a case study approach. The data were collected from fifteen informants through in-depth interviews which selected by using purposive sampling technique, all informants are students who are members of Islamic studies in universities. Afterwards, the interview’s result be analyzed thematically. Overall, the results of the analysis show that there are five student’s major motivations to take part in Islamic studies in university. The five motivations are; i) self-desire, ii) desire to deepen Islamic knowledge, iii) expanding relations, iv) desire to always be around religious people, and v) to hone organizational skill. This study result can be used as initial data for future researchers in addressing this issue in different context and issues.

Abstract

I'rab learning is one of the aspects that must be studied by a student to help read the Yellow Book, but in fact, there was some student who have difficulty to the understanding  I'rab, therefore, it is necessary to research to find out these problems. This research aims to identify whether the problems of students and teachers in this I'rab learning. This research uses a qualitative method with the case study type, data sources were taken to eight informants through direct interviews using a set of interview protocols. All the data were analyzed thematically using NVivo 12 Software. The research findings found nine main themes about the problems of students and teachers in I'rab learning. The nine themes consist of three problematic students themes: i) low vocabulary mastery (مفردات), ii) difficulty in I'rab sentences (جملة) in the Yellow Book, iii) lack of mastery of I'rab terms. Furthermore, the six teachers of problematic themes in I'rab learning include: iv) the teacher not teaching according to the ability of the students, v) less varied learning, vi) learning is only centered in one direction (Teacher Center), vii) teachers placement by expertise, viii) teachers changes frequently, and ix) mastering the concept of learning by the teacher was lacking. The results of this research can be used as preliminary data for future researchers in examining these problems in the context of different issues.
