Abstract

Charcot neuroarthropathy (CN) is a progressive degenerative arthropathy of weight-bearing joints, which rarely complicates diabetes mellitus, usually in the foot or ankle. Commonly, when affecting the foot, it seems to be determined by the interaction of neuropathy, osteopenia, and proinflammatory cytokines on a calcified peripheral vasculature that maintains its ability to vasodilate despite widespread arteriosclerosis. Although often unrecalled, this arthropathy is probably triggered by trauma. Diagnosis is primarily clinical, given the lack and non-specificity of radiological and biochemical findings at the acute stage. CN should be considered in the differential diagnosis of any diabetic patient presenting with a warm swollen lower extremity. Offloading is essential and improves limb survival. Failure to institute corrective measures at an early stage results in a foot that is prone to deformity, ulceration, amputation, and loss of function. We report a case of Charcot foot in a 73 years old female and review of diagnostic modalities.

Abstract

Korean drama is one of the Korean wave outputs that is increasingly popular around the world. One of the Korean dramas that has recently become a topic of discussion among the public is Mask Girl. This drama tells the story of a talented woman who, since childhood, has been treated badly by her environment because of her physical appearance, which is considered not in accordance with South Korean beauty standards. This research aims to find out how female beauty is standardized and constructed by Korean society. With a qualitative approach to phenomenological methods, this study is analyzed using Sara Mills' critical discourse analysis with a focus on the position of subjects-objects and viewers through three main points: scenes, characters, and dialogues. The researcher interviewed one South Korean citizen, one Indonesian citizen living in South Korea, a watcher of the drama Mask Girl, and two female experts. The result of this research is that female beauty is still standardized and constructed by society. Women are called beautiful if they have a small face, double eyelids, a sharp nose, white skin, red/pink lips, and attractive breast size. As a result of the standardized beauty and construction by society, there is appearance discrimination and injustice in society.

Abstract

Science learning is important for early childhood so that they are able to understand the world and the environment around them, through various processes that are then recognized as scientific investigations. Children are expected to be able to solve the problems they face through science learning. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of multisensory-ecology-based science learning models in improving cognitive and social development of early childhood. Social development in early childhood must also get a balanced portion. This research uses a 2x2 factorial experimental method. The sample consisted of early childhood divided into control and experimental groups. Data were collected through observation, cognitive tests, and social development scales. The results showed that children who learned using the multisensory-ecological learning model had significant improvements in cognitive and social aspects compared to the control group. Diverse sensory stimulation and active engagement in the learning environment contributed to better understanding of science concepts and more active social interaction. This learning model can be used as a reference for educators in designing more effective learning strategies for early childhood. It also supports inclusive education policies by considering the needs of diverse learners.
