Abstract

Mathematics textbooks that provide more descriptions of material and routine problems used so far cannot facilitate students in active learning activities. The lack of active students in learning activities causes creative thinking skills not to develop optimally. This paper aims to describe how problem-based learning textbooks can facilitate students in solving problems with different or varied solutions and even something new to foster creative thinking skills. This problem-based textbook has been developed and is one of the research products of IAIN Metro lecturers in 2021. This research is an experimental study consisting of experimental and control groups. Data collection techniques using tests and observations. The test data were analyzed using the mean difference test using the Mann-Whitney formula, while the observation data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach. The findings of this study are constructive learning activities and open problems contained in problem-based learning textbooks significantly improve creative thinking skills. It is shown that the increase in creative thinking skills of students who study using problem-based learning textbooks is substantially higher than students who study using other textbooks. Thus, problem-based learning textbooks contribute to improving students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Tulang Bawang Regency, located in Lampung Province, Indonesia, represents a multicultural society marked by ethnic, religious, and socio-cultural diversity. This diversity, while enriching, also brings challenges such as social inequality, conflicting identities, and differing interpretations of moderation values. This study aims to explore the implementation of moderation values in fostering social harmony within this complex environment. A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. Fifteen key informants—including religious leaders, traditional figures, and community activists—were purposively selected. Data were analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis framework. The findings reveal that challenges in implementing moderation stem from contrasting views about its meaning, external disruptions (such as social media), economic disparities, and insufficient political consistency. Nonetheless, significant opportunities exist, including interfaith education, the proactive role of traditional leaders, youth engagement, and civil society initiatives. Educational programs and strong leadership were found essential to shaping early tolerance. This study concludes that the consistent promotion of moderation values requires an integrated approach involving inclusive education, equitable policies, media literacy, and the active participation of all societal elements. The research offers valuable insights for policymakers and educators aiming to strengthen social integration in multicultural settings. Future research is recommended to evaluate the long-term impact of moderation-based policies and to explore comparative studies in other culturally diverse regions.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of Akidah Akhlak teachers in shaping the noble character of students in the era of the Internet of Things (IoT), a time marked by rapid technological change and digital exposure. The research was conducted at MTs Bustanul ‘Ulum Jayasakti in Central Lampung using a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that teachers not only deliver religious content but also act as moral exemplars and digital mentors. They integrate Islamic values into students’ digital realities using contextual strategies such as role-modeling, project-based learning, and ethical digital supervision. Despite facing challenges like limited digital infrastructure and varying parental involvement, these educators effectively foster students’ character by aligning Islamic teachings with contemporary digital contexts. The study concludes that strengthening teachers’ digital literacy and pedagogical adaptability is crucial to preserving moral integrity in a digital society.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of learning quality in creating an optimal learning experience in higher education. The identified problem is the variation in student satisfaction levels with lecturers' teaching, course materials, facilities and media, and the learning climate. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the level of satisfaction of fifth-semester students of the PGMI Study Program with respect to these four aspects. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with data collection techniques through a questionnaire that includes indicators of teaching effectiveness, material relevance, facility availability, and a comfortable learning climate. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results show that students are generally satisfied with lecturers' teaching (75.7%), course materials (78.5%), and the learning climate (78.6%), although there is still a need to develop interactive teaching methods, apply more practical materials, and improve technology-based facilities. In conclusion, the quality of learning in the PGMI Study Program is adequate, but needs to be strengthened in the aspects of methods, applicable materials, technological facilities, and an inclusive learning climate. This study recommends the need for continuous innovation in learning strategies, improved facility support, and the creation of a more conducive academic environment to further increase student satisfaction.
