Abstract

Teachers' success in teaching can be seen from increased student motivation and improved learning outcomes. One of the key factors that support this success is the use of effective teaching strategies. In the context of Islamic religious education, teachers have adopted a combination of strategy mapping and the jigsaw method. This integrated strategy has proven to be effective in providing comprehensive solutions to learning challenges. Not only does it help students master the subject matter, but it also guides them in understanding key concepts deeply, encourages critical and creative thinking, and fosters meaningful peer collaboration. Through strategy mapping, students are able to visualize relationships between concepts, which enhances their cognitive understanding. Meanwhile, the jigsaw strategy trains students to become responsible for their own learning and that of their peers. This method promotes active participation, improves communication skills, teaches the ethics of debate, and instills a sense of respect among students. Furthermore, it nurtures a cooperative spirit as students are encouraged to share knowledge and support each other in the learning process. As a result, the application of these strategies not only increases students’ academic performance but also contributes significantly to their character development, which is a vital component of Islamic religious education.

Abstract

One of the key factors determining students’ learning success lies in the teacher’s proficiency in delivering the subject matter. Therefore, teachers must possess strong competence in basic teaching skills so that learning objectives can be effectively achieved. This study aims to analyze the effect of teachers' basic teaching competencies on students' learning outcomes. A quantitative correlational method was used, with data collected from 40 respondents out of a total population of 260 using a questionnaire on two examined variables. The respondents were selected through a simple random sampling technique from a senior high school. The data were analyzed using correlation analysis techniques. The statistical results show a strong relationship between teachers’ basic teaching competencies and students’ learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education classes. This finding underscores the importance for teachers to continually improve their teaching skills, as it significantly impacts students’ academic achievement. The practical implication of this study highlights the need for ongoing teacher training programs to enhance basic instructional skills within adaptive and student-centered learning environments.ABSTRAKSalah satu aspek yang menentukan keberhasilan belajar peserta didik dipengaruhi kemahiran guru dalam menyampaikan materi pelajaran. Abstract

Cultivating religious values from an early age to children starts in the household as the first education for a child, so parents as first educators must prepare themselves and prepare the religious education material for their children. A child's sense of religion will not grow by itself, without us cultivating it from the start and setting an example in the family’s daily routine. The type of research conducted by the author is library research by comparing the interpretations of Ibnu Katsir and M. Quraish Shihab. The results of the study show that the interpretation of Ibnu Katsir and M. Quraish Shihab is almost the same in interpreting surah Lukman verses 12-19. The difference is that M. Quraish Shihab translated the verses in detail with the meaning of the words, while Ibnu Katsir translated by dividing the verse and adding verses and hadiths that are connected to each other. The core of Surah Lukman verses 12-19 are gratitude, monotheistic teachings about the prohibition of shirk, serving both parents, establishing prayer, doing good and preventing bad actions, prohibiting being arrogant, being modest in life, and being soft and gentle.

Abstract

Exploring the relationship between the philosophy of science and social construction provides a critical foundation for understanding the development of scientific knowledge in modern society, particularly within the Indonesian context. The philosophy of science, which examines the epistemological, ontological, and methodological foundations of scientific inquiry, is influenced by the post-positivist paradigm that emphasizes the role of social factors such as culture and norms in shaping knowledge. Meanwhile, Berger and Luckmann’s theory of social construction views scientific knowledge as the result of social interaction, negotiation, and institutionalization rather than an absolutely objective entity. Using qualitative methods with a content analysis approach and a synthetic examination of sources such as journals, books, and local case studies, this research reveals that scientific knowledge in Indonesia is shaped by local values such as mutual cooperation, post-reform political agendas, and cultural narratives, which often give rise to epistemic bias and the marginalization of traditional knowledge. The key findings highlight practical implications in the fields of education, health, and the environment, suggesting that integrating a decolonial philosophy of science can reduce injustice and support inclusive policies such as the National Health Insurance. Overall, this interdisciplinary approach affirms that scientific knowledge is dynamic and contextual, encouraging critical reflection on absolute objectivity to promote equitable and sustainable development.

Abstract

This article examines the historiography of madrasah education and the social dynamics of the Minangkabau community in West Sumatra, Indonesia. Using a qualitative-historical approach, this study analyzes how madrasah, as a traditional Islamic educational institution, has undergone transformation in line with social, cultural, and epistemological changes. The findings show that the historiography of madrasah in Minangkabau represents a dialectical relationship between religious orthodoxy and the currents of modernization. The historical narratives that have developed both in traditional surau chronicles and writings of reformers such as Mahmud Yunus and HAMKA reveal a paradigm shift from theocentric education to a rational and integrative model of Islamic education. Sociologically, madrasah plays a significant role in supporting the social structure of Minangkabau, which is based on the principle of "adat basandi syarak, syarak basandi Kitabullah" (custom based on sharia, sharia based on the Qur'an). Madrasah serves as a cultural and moral agent, bridging the values of tradition and religion, while also shaping collective identity and ethical consciousness in society. The transformation of the madrasah curriculum also shows an epistemological syncretism between Islamic studies and general knowledge, reflecting adaptation to modern educational paradigms. In facing the challenges of globalization and digital transformation, madrasah in Minangkabau is required to innovate pedagogically without losing its spiritual and cultural authenticity. This research offers a conceptual model of the Humanist-Integrative Madrasah, emphasizing the integration of Islamic values, local wisdom, and global competence. Thus, the historiography of madrasah in Minangkabau not only demonstrates the continuity of Islamic educational traditions but also its role as an agent of social transformation in the modern era.
