Abstract

Agility is an important fitness component in badminton because it determines a player's ability to change direction quickly and accurately. However, initial observations of extracurricular badminton participants at SMAN 18 Garut show that students' agility is still low, as indicated by slow responses and position changes during training. This study aimed to determine the effect of Fast Feet Exercises on improving agility among students participating in the badminton extracurricular program at SMAN 18 Garut. The research used a quasi-experimental design with a One-Group Pretest–Posttest approach. Twenty students were selected using total sampling and participated in an intervention program for six weeks (three sessions per week, 45–60 minutes per session). The Illinois Agility Test was used to assess agility before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, and the Paired Samples t-test. The results showed a significant improvement in agility after the training program, as indicated by the decrease in average completion time from 20.1 ± 1.41 seconds to 17.85 ± 0.77 seconds (t = 8.309; p < 0.05). This finding demonstrates that Fast Feet Exercises effectively enhance agility by improving neuromuscular coordination, foot speed, balance, and movement efficiency. The program also resulted in more consistent performance among participants, as reflected by the reduced standard deviation. In conclusion, Fast Feet Exercises are proven to be an effective and practical method to improve agility in school-aged athletes, particularly those engaged in sports requiring rapid directional changes, such as badminton. Future studies are recommended to include control groups and investigate the long-term effects of this training method

Abstract

Study purpose. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of circuit training programmes on improving endurance (VO2Max) in Persigar Garut football players. Physical endurance is important for players to be able to last for 90 minutes of play. Materials and methods. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research sample consisted of 25 active Persigar Garut players, with measurements taken using the Multistage Fitness Test. The Circuit Training programme was administered for 4 weeks with a frequency of 3 times per week. Results. The results showed a significant increase in average VO2Max, from 47.94 (Pretest) to 55.13 (Posttest), an increase of 15.00%. Paired t-test analysis showed a very significant difference (Sig. 2-tailed < 0.001). Conclusion. The conclusion of this study is that Circuit Training has a significant and positive effect on increasing the endurance capacity (VO2Max) of Persigar Garut football players. This increase is due to the characteristics of Circuit Training, which stimulates the cardiorespiratory system intensely and repeatedly, as well as its effectiveness in maximising the body's ability to absorb and utilise oxygen.

Abstract

Sports coaching is not only influenced by the technical aspects of training, but also by the quality of social interactions between coaches, athletes, and parents. However, studies on social interactions in swimming coaching at the club level, particularly those involving these three parties, are still limited. This study aims to describe social interactions in swimming coaching at the Aqualux Garut Club using the 3+1Cs model (Closeness, Commitment, Complementarity, Co-orientation). The research method used was an ex-post facto study with a descriptive qualitative approach. The sample consisted of 10 athletes, 2 coaches, and 2 parents who were selected purposively. The research instruments were a 3+1Cs model questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, and semi-structured interviews. The results showed that social interactions were in the very good category (average 81.5%), with the highest score in the Complementarity dimension (84%), followed by Closeness (83%), Commitment (81%), and Co-orientation (78%). Interviews corroborated the questionnaire findings, demonstrating emotional closeness, commitment, harmonious cooperation, and alignment of goals, although some athletes were still reluctant to express their opinions. The study concluded that positive social interactions play a crucial role in supporting athletes' skills, motivation, and mental well-being.
