Abstract

Interpretation subject is a novel approach to observing resources in the interpretation program. Interpretation programs refer to the efforts to develop an individual's ability to deeply interpret the value of nature for humans through meaningful and pleasant experiences, impressions, and feelings to achieve management goals. The viewpoint of interpretation subject considers the intrinsic value of each resource. These polarization studies provide valuable information on critical issues concerning stakeholder perception and their implications for managing interpretations. The purpose of this study is to analyze and evaluate the characteristics of the interpretation subject that stakeholders thought were crucial in Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park management. The survey was done by distributing questionnaires to related stakeholders (tourists, communities, and area managers/tour operators) and evaluated by cluster analysis, Kruskal-Wallis, and Mann-Whitney test. Although the stakeholder considered flora, language, and abiotic components essential in interpretation, tourists' perception tended to focus on abiotic components and the built natural environment. The research showed that abiotic and cultural component-based-ecotourism-programs shall be developed to ensure sustainable management, increase community participation, and introduce the biological wealth in the national park area.

Abstract

In addition to providing multiplier economy benefits, the tourism sector also has the potential to cause some latent and massive negative social impacts. For this reason, it is important to map out the orientation of the local community. This study aims to analyse the polarization of local community's perceptions about socio-cultural dynamics in the ecotourism development area. The local community that became the focus of the research consisted of five groups of respondents, namely traditional leaders, religious leaders, educational leaders, community leaders, and tourism actors. This research was conducted in the Bopunjur Ecotourism Area, Bogor Regency, West Java, precisely in seven ecotourism destinations, namely Ciawi, Caringin, Cibogo, Cipayung, Megamendung, Cisarua, and Tugu. This study used an exploratory – phenomenology approach. Data collection on social and cultural dynamics was carried out by distributing questionnaires to the respondents. The research instrument in the form of a questionnaire designed with a closed ended with guidance on one score one indicator scoring system. The results showed that positive social situations namely conducive situations, associations, cooperative situations, and productive collaborations were still more dominant than negative social situations: war, conflict, and dissociation. The polarization of local community on socio-cultural dynamics has a positive direction with a polarization scale that is aligned with each other so that there is a great opportunity to build productive collaboration between stakeholders in this area.

Abstract

The entrepreneurship aspect will determine the success of the development and development of rural ecotourism. Rural ecotourism products and services must be created and packaged by entrepreneurs in an attractive and highly competitive manner so that tourists are interested in consuming them. This study aimed to analyze the external factors that affect entrepreneurial capacity in rural ecotourism. The research location was in four tourist villages in Bogor Regency, namely Ciasihan, Sirnajaya, Watesjaya and Pabuaran Villages. Primary data was obtained through filling out a list of questions by respondents using a closed-ended questionnaire by applying the “one score one indicator scoring” system pattern . Data analysis was carried out in a quantitative descriptive manner based on the average value of each criterion/indicator. Analysis of causality between variables is carried out using logistic regression analysis. The results show that the external factors that significantly affect the performance of rural ecotourism entrepreneurship are dominated by social aspects (seven factors) and some aspects of the entrepreneurship ecosystem, namely 1) market, 2) finance and 3) business culture. The highest odds ratio is in the social interaction variable, which is 5.459, while the lowest odds ratio is in the group solidarity variable, which is 0.323. With the odds ratio of social interaction of 5.459, it can be interpreted that if social interaction in the tourist village increases, it will tend to cause the success in  entrepreneurship  5.459 times higher than in the absence of social interaction.

Abstract

The dynamic of 3-parties conflict of interests (investor, local people and government) in having actual income from the nature tourism park business in Indonesia became worse since a “very progressive” Government Regulation on Forestry Related Services Tariff (so called PP 12/2014) was issued. On one hand, everybody agrees to improve the 17 years old tariff regulation of PP 59/1998. On the other hand, the “unclear reason” of the new tariffs in PP 12/2014 has shocked many parties and created many difficulties while implemented. This paper studies visitors’ expenditures and their willingness to pay (WTP) for every recreation services scenario by using contingent valuation method (CVM) survey with open-ended eliciting questionnaire instrument. Regarding the characteristic of Gunung Pancar Forest Tourism Park (GPFTP) the method was used to justify a reasonable and eligible ticket pricing strategy at the GPFTP as a quasi-public recreation park. The survey has also specifically addressed the reasonable ticket-price that aligns with the financial assumption of investor's business plan and local people's economic activities. Results of the survey show that the continuum of visitors’ WTP is ranging from 3.4 times (as the response to scenario-1) up to 12.7 times (as the response to scenario-5) of the recent ticket price. The WTP of scenario-2, 3 and 4 are ranging from 4.7, 6.2 and 7.5 times, respectively. Furthermore, the results of Tobit Regression Analysis show that seven important variables are positively correlated, while six variables are negatively correlated with the WTP.

Abstract

Directly or indirectly, the development of ecotourism will affect the identity of the Gayo Highlands ecoregion as a living space. On the one hand, it can encourage or become a driving force for the preservation of natural resources and local culture, but on the other hand, it can exacerbate conflicts between stakeholders on ecoregional identities. Therefore, stakeholder orientation towards ecoregional identity for ecotourism development is important to be analyzed and mapped and interpreted in a comprehensive and in-depth manner, such as in Gayo Lues Regency, Aceh Province. This research on Stakeholder Orientation on Ecoregional Identity for Ecotourism Development in Gayo Lues Regency was conducted through an analysis of the perceptions, motivations and preferences of stakeholder groups; adopts the One Score One Criteria Scoring System method on seven aspects of identity, namely aspects of ecology and conservation, socio-cultural, socio-economic, socio-political, development, regional and ecotourism. The results of the analysis show that the orientation of stakeholders towards ecoregion identity is still low, out of 338 identified potential ecoregion identities, only 43% are recognized by stakeholder groups. In general, it can be said that stakeholder orientation is only focused on various ecoregional identity variables that are currently trending and have high economic value. This fact will not only result in the defragmentation of various living ecosystems, but also is latent in causing massive damage and extinction. Abstract

The Aesthetic value is one of the factors in order to attract tourists to visit. Flowers are one form of tourist attraction that symbolizes beauty, flowers can be used as an object of interpretation for the development of ecotourism, especially in interpreting the meaning of the aesthetic value. Assessment of beauty can be measured by a number that is believed to have beauty, namely by using the golden ratio. Research has shown that the golden ratio actually exists in flowers. The knowledge of the golden ratio of flowers, in addition to increasing tourist attraction, can also be used as an interpretation for tourists because the aesthetic value is very important to the human relationship with nature, and the motivation to protect it. Golden ratio analysis was performed on 150 flowers. A flower is said to have a golden ratio if the ratio results in a comparison of flower morphology producing a number of 1.618 or close to that number. The discovery of the golden ratio in all flowers shows that flowers are creations that have aesthetic value so visitors are expected to be able to interpret the importance of the value of beauty in living things for their tour experience

Abstract

Rural areas are increasingly the focus of exploration by various stakeholders. However, local communities, as landowners in these regions, often do not reap the full benefits. This issue stems from their limited involvement in regional development and a lack of awareness about ongoing projects. Local communities play a crucial role in the success of rural development, and understanding their attitudes is vital. This study aimed to explore local community attitudes toward eco-rural tourism development in Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province. A closed-ended questionnaire, designed with a "One Score One Indicator" system, assessed various factors including socio-cultural aspects, conservation, ethnic politics, economics, regional development, tourism, and landscape ecology across six villages. The analysis of local community orientation was conducted using quantitative descriptive methods and One-Way ANOVA statistical tests. Results indicated a positive polarization in community attitudes across all villages, showing strong support for eco-rural tourism. By focusing on the identified indicators, local communities are motivated to collaborate and enhance their rural areas through eco-tourism initiatives. The findings suggest that these communities possess significant potential to develop their regions in line with eco-rural tourism principles. Additionally, the insights gained can inform the creation of eco-rural tourism programs that emphasize community involvement and leverage local strengths. This approach aims to ensure that rural communities benefit from the exploration and development occurring in their areas.

Abstract

Increasing women's participation in supporting climate change improvement is considered important where women's activities are very close to the environment. The cities of Bandar Lampung and Bogor have been identified as being no longer comfortable so that they are potentially used as research sites to analyze the potential of women's participatory funds that are potentially available in Indonesia. The objectives of this study are: 1) to analyze the comparison of perceptions of women in Bandar Lampung City and Bogor City against global climate change and 2) to analyze the comparison of women WTP values in Bandar Lampung City and Bogor City to participate in improving the global climate. Data were taken using closed ended questionnaires, then analyzed by Kruskal Wallis and Dunn Test, T Test and Z Test. The results of the study showed that according to Bandar Lampung City women that reduced RTH was the main problem causing a decrease in environmental quality. Unlike Bogor City women who perceive that population growth is the main cause of the decline in environmental quality. In addition, women in Bandar Lampung City perceive that the increase in temperature and humidity in their area is higher than that of Bogor City. The results of the comparison of WTP values show no significant difference where Bandar Lampung City is Rp. 12.429 / KK / month and Kota Bogor is Rp. 10.226 / KK / month; cumulatively the potential for women's participation in Bandar Lampung City is Rp. 35.025.618.024 per year and in Bogor City Rp.32.138.027.376 per year. Keywords: Climate change, community participation fund, Willingness To Pay (WTP), women’s orientation

Abstract

The beauty of flowers holds significant appeal for tourists seeking to experience nature. This aesthetic quality can be quantified using the golden ratio, a numerical value associated with beauty. Understanding the golden ratio in flowers offers a fascinating way to enrich ecotourism interpretations for both tourists and flower enthusiasts in Indonesia. This knowledge can transform how visitors appreciate the natural beauty around them. This exploratory research aims to determine the golden ratio's position in 150 flowers found in the Sukabumi Region. A quantitative approach is used to measure and analyze to obtain a comparison that produces a golden ratio value so that the aesthetic value of each flower found in the Sukabumi Region can be known. The results of the golden ratio values were found in nine different variations of the comparison between the morphologies. The golden ratio value on flowers can be used for ecotourism interpretation and adding knowledge regarding the importance of the value of beauty so that it can be managed as a source of tourist attraction in the Sukabumi area.
