Abstract

The principles of green chemistry can be implemented in chemistry learning. Basic Chemistry learning with Green Chemistry insight can also be adapted to high school chemistry learning. This study aims to describe basic chemistry learning, adaptations of chemistry learning and design of chemistry learning with green chemistry insight at high school based on the results of previous research. The method used in this study was a systematic review, namely a systematic narrative review conducted by mapping or systematic mapping study. Sources of data from electronic documents were traced through Google searching, ERIC document data, and research gates with the keywords green chemistry and green education. The results show that basic chemistry learning can apply several principles of green chemistry. The principles (preventing/reducing waste, saving energy, and using renewable feedstock) can be implemented in several chemistry topics. The topics cover separating mixtures, chemical reactions, fundamental laws of chemistry, acids and bases, and reaction rates. Also, green chemistry can be adapted to high school chemistry even though it has not been stated in the chemistry curriculum. The design of chemistry learning with green chemistry insight can apply several learning models, such as Problem Based Learning (PBL), Project Based Learning (PjBL), and Inquiry or Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL).

Abstract

The use of modules allows students to learn independently according to their abilities and interests, but it can also develop the ability to interact directly with the environment and other learning resources. This study aims to produce a module based on metacognitive strategies to reduce misconceptions on salt hydrolysis material. This research is a Research and Development by adapting the research and development stages modified by Sukmadinata with one group pretest-posttest design which is treated with a limited trial sample of 20 students of class XI MIPA at SMAN 1 Lamongan. The research instrument used was students' conception test sheets given before and after learning with the number of items, namely 5 reasoned multiple-choice questions accompanied by CRI (Certainty of Response Index). The results showed that in the concept of the hydrolysis reaction there was a change in misconception (MK) to know the concept (TK) by 74%, to not know the concept (TTK) by 0%, and still have a misconception (MK) by 26%. In the concept of salt solution pH there is a shift to TK, TTK, and MK respectively by 50%, 0%, and 50%. Thus, it can be concluded that modules based on metacognitive strategies can reduce misconceptions about the concept of hydrolysis reactions by 74% and about the concept of pH of salt solutions by 50%.

Abstract

Community service (PKM) with the title of training in compiling teaching modules on chemical concepts based on conceptual change models for MGMP chemistry teachers in Mojokerto Regency and City as a form of activity aimed at providing an understanding of conceptual change models as an effort to reduce misconceptions that occur in students. This PKM involves a team of resource persons from the S1 chemistry education study program, FMIPA, Surabaya State University with training participants from the MGMP Chemistry team in Mojokerto Regency and City. The methods of this activity are: 1) conveying the conceptual change model using lecture, discussion, question and answer, and workshop methods, 2) assignment method (continued workshop) to be completed within a period of one month (2-4 weeks), and 3) discussing or reflecting on the implementation of PKM. The materials presented consist of: 1) Merdeka Curriculum and its learning tools, 2) core material of conceptual change modules to remediate misconceptions in chemical concepts. Mentoring and progress checking activities were carried out online synchronously via zoom meeting on August 31, 2024. The results of this training can improve the competence of teachers participating in the PKM training with success indicators in the form of conceptual change module products for chemical concepts that were successfully collected until the end of September 2024. Some of these modules include the material on colligative properties of solutions, reaction rates, covalent bonds, chemical bonds, acids, bases and fatty acids. Based on the final product, it can be concluded that training activities can improve the competence of teachers even though the participation value is still low at 46.15% of participants who compiled the conceptual change module. This activity also received a positive response with 84.60% of participants stating that the conceptual change model training was very useful from all training participants. Metacognitive skills are important to train students in developing and improving 21st century skills. One of the efforts to train metacognitive skills in students by using relevant learning media, namely guided inquiry-oriented electronic student worksheets. This research aims to determine the feasibility of developing a guided-inquiry-oriented student e-worksheet to improve metacognitive skills on chemical equilibrium. The feasible to use, in terms of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The method uses in this research is RD with a 4D model, but only reached the develop. The subjects of this studi amounted to 20 student of class XI-1 state senior high school of 21 Surabaya. This results obtained are that the student e-worksheet developed is feasible because the validity results the content and construct in mode 5 with a very valid category. The practicality results obtained a student response questionnaire of 95,29% in the very practical category and supported by the results of observations of student activities obtained a percentage of 92,78% in the very practical category. The effectiveness results was obtained from the pretest dan possttest results, which analyzed using the SPSS Paired Sample t-Test, the results showed that there was an increase in students metacognitivse skills, namely with a sig. value (two-sided p) 0.001.

Abstract

This study investigates the improvement of student learning outcomes using e-worksheet media with Live Worksheets. Conducted as Classroom Action Research (CAR), it involved 38 students from class X-7 at SMA Negeri 18 Surabaya. Data collection included observation techniques and learning outcome tests aimed at assessing teacher and student activities. The observation data were analyzed using a percentage formula for relevant activities over two meetings. Learning outcome tests measured improvements after cycles I and II, analyzed for the percentage of classical completeness in learning outcomes. Results indicated that teacher activity increased from 91% in cycle I to 100% in cycle II, while student activity rose from 79% to 89%, which falls into the very practical category. Additionally, learning outcomes improved significantly, increasing from 50% before the intervention to 79% in cycle I and 89% in cycle II, which is ≥75%. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of e-worksheet media in improving educational engagement and achievement. The study concludes that technology-based learning innovations can effectively address educational challenges and recommends further development of interactive learning tools across various subjects and educational levels.

Abstract

This study aims to produce textbooks based on pop up science to train students' critical thinking skills in fifth grade elementary school, to describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of pop-up science-based textbooks to practice critical thinking skills on the material "System Digestion in Humans ". This research is a development research that refers to the development model of analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation (ADDIE). Lesson plan with science-based textbooks pop up are then validated by experts. The results of the validation of the experts stated that the lesson plan with science-based textbooks pop up are valid for used. Furthermore, it was tested on the fifth grade students of Kandangan I / 121 state elementary school at Surabaya with One Group Pretest-Postest Design. The results of a limited scale trial showed that  (1) learning tools with science based pop-up textbooks that are developed in valid categories, (2) lesson plan that are developed practically based on the implementation of lesson plans that are categorized very well and student activities that are relevant to learning, (3) lesson plan which developed are effective based on the results of students' critical thinking skills tests which show that N-Gain 9 students are in the middle category, 6 students are in the high category, and the results of the paired samples t-test with Ho are rejected and the positive response given by the students . It can be concluded that the lesson plans with science-based textbooks pop up are appropriate for training the thinking skills of elementary school students.
