Abstract

This research is a classroom action research with stages that include planning, implementing action, observing, and reflecting. This study aims to describe how to improve students' mathematical understanding skills when using a scientific approach to algebraic form material. This research was conducted on 21 students of grade VII SMP IT Budi Luhur academic year 2021/2022. The instrument used in this study was 5 questions referring to the indicators of understanding ability given at the beginning of learning and at the end of learning, which were then analyzed by calculating the average value of each question that would be done with Ms. Excel. Data processing was carried out using qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the ability of mathematical understanding can be improved using a scientific approach.

Abstract

Since online learning began to be implemented, many students have difficulty learning, especially in learning mathematics .The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze of student learning difficulties for class VII students through LKPD based on Live Worksheets of SMP Negeri 2 Cikampek and to examine students' constraints when working on the set of worksheets. Worksheets prepared using a problem-based approach (PBL). This research method uses the description method and the research subjects are 45 students in class VII SMP Negeri 2 Cikampek. The data obtained in the form of student answers and analyzed so that conclusions are obtained in the form of research results.The results of this study indicate that grade VII students of SMP Negeri 2 Cikampek can already distinguish between sets and non-sets, but there are still many students who have difficulty writing set notation. Another obstacle is when using Live Worksheets. .These obstacles include the lack of knowledge of students about e-LKPD, lack of confidence/fear of making mistakes when working through Live Worksheets, pressing the finish button incorrectly when completing the worksheet and obstacles from media/mobile phones that do not support the use of Live Worksheets.

Abstract

In this study, the purpose of analyzing how students' mistakes in building flat side rooms based on spatial abilities. This type of research is descriptive and qualitative. The sample used was 4 students which included 2 high school students in class XII with female gender, and 2 students of SMK class XII with male gender. The data collection technique is in the form of an instrument with a spaceability test, which consists of 4 description questions. The analysis technique used is based on watson criteria. Referring to Watson's criteria, students still make 4 mistakes caused due to several internal and external factors, these errors include incorrect data, improper procedures, skill hierarchy problems, and errors other than the seven above.

Abstract

During the covid-19 pandemic, learning in schools became limited. However, as time goes by, face to face learning had to continue in order to achieve maximum learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement of student learning outcomes in class XI in a Vocational High Schools in Cimahi City by using a Problem Based Learning approach to the material of mathematical logic. This research is a classroom action research method which was conducted on 12 students in the 2021/2022 academic year.The test instrument is a posttest consisting of 4 essay questions, which are given in cycle I and cycle II. The results of this study indicate that there is an increase in learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II. The average value of the class in cycle I did not meet the KKM. In cycle II, the average value of the class has increased, so that it reaches the KKM.

Abstract

This study aims to dissect students' learning inspiration on the material for building flat sides with the help of interactive Powerpoint. The method used in this exam is a qualitative descriptive technique. The subjects of this study were 6th grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Ciwidey, consisting of 2 male students and 4 female students. The information retrieval technique uses a student learning motivation scale on the flat-sided building material assisted by interactive Powerpoint media which contains 10 statements with 5 positive statements and 5 negative statements. The results of data analysis in this study indicate that students are included in the very good category, which is 82.1% of the results of calculations using Microsoft Excel. Utilization of interactive Powerpoint media can help students in learning the material for building flat sides.

Abstract

Research with a scientific approach in an effort to help students' mathematical understanding of grade IX SMP in transformation material has the aim of analyzing the effect of the scientific approach on students' mathematical understanding ability on transformation material (reflection). In this study, the type of classroom action research was used, with the research subjects with the criteria being students of class IX-A SMP IT Budi Luhur Cimahi. The number of samples used were 21 students for 2 cycles. The analysis was carried out with test and non-test instruments, giving questions as research test instruments consisting of 5 pre-test and post-test questions in the form of descriptions that will measure students' mathematical understanding abilities. While the non-test instrument is a questionnaire scale of 15 statements given to students to measure students' self-confidence. The data processing technique for the test instrument used is the N-Gain analysis test, while for the non-test instrument, Microsoft excel is used. The results showed that the scientific approach affected the mathematical understanding ability of class IX-A students with average criteria with a value of 0.55. The average value of the pretest is 3.86 and the average value of the posttest is 12.71. Based on these data, there was an increase in the value of 8.86, while the average value of the questionnaire was 68.41%, meaning that it had a strong effect on students' self-confidence.

Abstract

In this study to carry out the learning process, it is necessary to evaluate students to find out errors during the learning process. The purpose of this study was to find out the learning errors of class VIII students in mathematics, the subject of a two-variable linear equation system with the elimination method. This study uses quantitative descriptive research to determine the percentage of students' errors in learning. The subjects of this study used 1 room, namely room 06 class VIII-C with 20 students, consisting of 13 boys and 7 girls. One room has characteristics with low, medium and high categories seen from the acquisition of the Final Semester Assessment. The test instrument of this research used 5 questions. Difficulty in solving mathematics learning problems with two-variable system of linear equations which include: 1). Difficulty in making a mathematical model of the material system of linear equations of two variables; 2). Difficulty in understanding the problem; 3). Difficulty in the calculation process 4). Difficulty in concept.

Abstract

Mathematical creative thinking is the ability to think with the aim of solving a problem with various ideas, generating various ideas, being able to create new ways that are not the same as other people and also being able to develop ideas or ideas. The purpose of this research is to analyze the mathematical creative thinking skills of SMK students in West Bandung with the indicators used consisting of 4 components, such as (1) Fluency; (2) Flexibility; (3) Originality; and (4) Elaboration. This research used a descriptive qualitative method and subject of this research is 10 students in the Vocational High Schools in West Bandung, the instruments used in this study are 5 items of material power, roots, and logarithms. Based on the results of the analysis of the percentage of completeness in this study, it was found that the creative thinking ability of students was still relatively low so further research was needed on students' creative thinking abilities with the aim of producing data that could be used as material for analysis and evaluation in producing what kind of learning model could improve students' mathematical creative thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to dissect the students’ errors in solving math essay-test using Newman’s error category and analyze the students’ learning interest in the straight-line equation. The exploration carried out utilizes the constructivist approach as well as a form of descriptive exploration. The subjects of this exploration are the 8th-grade students of SMP in Kabupaten Bandung Barat in the academic year 2021/2022. The device in this exploration is in the form of 4 questions which are analyzed using Newman's proposition and non-tests in the form of a student learning the interest scale conforming to 18 questions. Grounded on the results of data analysis, it was concluded that scholars made (1) errors in reading the question; (2) errors in learning the problem; (3) errors when transubstantiation the problem; (4) errors when procedural skills; and (5) writing errors in the final answer. The affair of this study proves that students' interest in learning the material of straight-line equations is included in the strong classification.
