Abstract

Communication will be impossible if everything had to be defined or explained every time we spoke. Whatever a speaker or writer assume that the receiver of the message already knows is called presupposition. This research analyzed about presupposition of message Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as President of The Republic of Turkey on Human Rights Day, December 10, 2018. The aims of this research are to find out the types of presupposition and identify the most dominant  type of presupposition that used  by Erdogan. Classification about types of presupposition by Yule (1996) as cited in Tryana & Satelah (2018) used in this research. The researchers  analyzed the data with some steps applying the qualitative method, the researchers identifying the scripts of the speech, classifying the utterances into presupposition and categorizing them based on the types of presupposition. After that, counting the types of presupposition in percentage. As the result, The existential presupposition is the dominant type in Erdogan’s speech with the percentage 56,67% and followed by lexical and factive in the second and third position. Keywords:  Presupposition, Types of Presupposition, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan

Abstract

Having competencies on teaching English to young learners (TEYL), the teachers will be able to design materials, to teach well, and to suggest what approaches, methods, and techniques to be used. However, TEYL should not be done without careful planning and preparation. This study investigated TEYL process in Cimahi. It is intended to identify and analyze English teaching and learning process in Elementary and Kindergarten,  teachers’ perception towards TEYL, and students’ responses toward English lesson. The study reported here made use of qualitative research design as its method, while the instruments were questionnaire, observations, and interview. There were 3 teachers of Kindergarten and Elementary school chosen based on purposive sampling technique as the subject of the research. e

Abstract

English learning is a local content at the elementary level. Our interest in the PKM program is due to the initial findings that most of teachers who teach English at kindergarten or elementary levels only rely on the existing worksheet. In addition, teachers still find it difficult to find or use learning media that is in line with the learning theme. The main objective in this activity is to provide assistance in making and using English learning media. The method of implementing this activity is in the form of in-service training programs, namely training for kindergarten and elementary school teachers in Cihampelas sub-district. Based on the results of the questionnaire, it can be concluded that the training material is very useful for participants in enhancing creativity, besides that the participants also think that the teaching media used are easy to make.

Abstract

Kesiapan dan pemahaman terhadap Kurikulum 2013 harus dimiliki oleh semua guru. Berdasarkan observasi awal yang dilakukan di gugus SD di Kelurahan Cimahi Kecamatan Cimahi Utara Kota Cimahi, kami dapati bahwa sebagian besar guru di gugus tersebut kurang memiliki kesiapan yang mumpuni dalam mengaplikasikan kurikulum terbaru selama pembelajaran. Hal ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya kesiapan dan pemahaman para guru dalam menerapkan model pembelajaran yang terbarukan, serta media pembelajaran yang digunakan kurang memiliki kebermanfaatan dalam proses pembelajaran. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang dapat diterapkan adalah Project Based Learning. Walaupun media berbasis teknologi sedang popular, kehadiran media pembelajaran konvensional tidak dapat dinafikan kegunaannya. Media pembelajaran dapat dibuat menggunakan bahan-bahan yang ada disekitar kita. Diantara dengan menggunakan media barang bekas. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah memberikan pendampingan bagi para guru SD dalam penerapan dan pembuatan bahan ajar Matematika dan Bahasa Inggris berbasis Project Based Learning menggunakan media barang bekas. Metode yang dipilih dalam melaksanakan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini ini adalah pelatihan/pendampingan, diskusi, dan tanya jawab (Transfer Ilmu Pengetahuan). Berdasarkan hasil interview, dapat disimpulkan bahwa melalui kegiatan ini, kemampuan profesionalisme para guru mengalami peningkatan yang cukup signifikan. Kata Kunci : Project Based Learning, Bahasa Inggris, Matematika, Barang Bekas

Abstract

Pemanfaatan media pembelajaran yang belum optimal, menjadi salah satu masalah yang dihadapi guru di wilayah Subang, terlebihnya di desa jalan Cagak. Dalam proses pembelajaran, media pembelajaran menjadi salah satu unsur penunjang keberhasilan suatu pembelajaran. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk dapat mendampingi dan membekali para guru SMP melalui pelatihan peningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam melaksanakan kegiatan pembelajaran berbahasa Inggris, dengan memanfaatkan media dan sumber bahan ajar yang tersedia di internet, terutama dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran Digital Story Telling. Metode yang akan digunakan dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah metode pendekatan masalah atau transfer IPTEK. Metode yang dilakukan oleh tim pelaksana PKM terhadap mitra sekolah yaitu melalui melalui proses survey dan interview yang dilakukan secara berkesinambungan sehingga dapat menganalisis, mendiskusikan, dan memberikan pendampingan secara langsung terkait media pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Melalui kegiatan PKM ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa para guru SMP di wilayah Subang memberikan respon yang positif dan sangat antusias sekali selama pelaksanakan pelatihan berlangsung. Dari pelaksanaan program PKM ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemanfaatan Media Digital Story Telling sangat diminati oleh para guru karena dapat dengan mudah diaplikasikan di kelas dalam proses pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Kata Kunci : pelatihan 1, SMP 2, Digital Story Telling 3

Abstract

Speaking is the highest target in English language because speaking is basis of communication which becomes a function learning. There are many kinds of technique to improve speaking skill and one of them is Analytic Teams Technique. Therefore, the researcher wanted to find out whether or not Analytic Teams technique can improve the students’ speaking skill and to analyze the classroom situation when the Analytic Teams technique is implemented in speaking class. This research used Collaborative Classroom Action Research and composed for two or more cycles then it observed and evaluated to identify all facts including the success and the failure of the action. It means that the action should be stopped or continued and revised to the next cycle based on the selected criteria of success. After the implementation of Analytic Teams Technique in every cycle, the students’ speaking score were getting better. It can be seen from the result of students’ average score Cycle 1 was 64.28 and Cycle 2 was 78.05. It can be concluded that Analytic Teams Technique can improve students’ speaking skill and improve speaking classroom into a better situation. Keywords: Analytic Teams; Speaking Skill; CAR

Abstract

Writing is one of the problems that students and teachers often have. Because writing was difficult to learned and taught for some students. One method that can be used in teaching writing was Picture Series. The research was conducted in SMP YPKKP in Bandung. the research aimed to identify teacher and student’s difficulties in writing recount text using Picture Series at eigth grade. This research used descriptive qualitative research. From the result, the difficulty of teachers and students in teaching and learning writing using picture series is that students were not optimal in made texts and they difficulty to developing their ideas because of their limited knowledge in vocabulary, then they did not master grammar and their lack of understanding of changed in verbs used in making recount text. As a result, they will write according to their modest abilities. Therefore, teachers have to often provide motivation to students in the classroom or outside the school environment regardless of the burden of their responsibilities as teachers, and must be more optimal and creative in teaching by using various methods, one of which is using a picture series, the purpose is to improve students' writing skills. Keywords:  Recount Text, Writing, Picture Series

Abstract

The ability to speak English is one of the benchmarks in determining success in education, especially for students majoring in English. Cooperative script is a method of learning in which students work in pairs and alternately convey orally explain the material. This research was conducted at IKIP Siliwangi. The subjects of the research were second semester students. Classroom Action Research was used in this research. Test and interview as the instrument of the research. The finding of the research proved that cooperative script can improve students’ speaking ability. It can seen from the improvement of the students score. The students mean score of pre-test was 71.60. After the implementation of cooperative script, the mean scores of post-test 1 was 74.40 And the mean scores of post-test 2 was 79.00. It means the result of this study confirm that the application of cooperative script can improved the student speaking ability. Keywords:  CAR, Speaking Ability, Cooperative Script

Abstract

Abstract: Mastering vocabulary is very important for foreign language learners. Since today’s era demands teacher and lecturer to deal with technology in teaching, the role of technology is really important.  E-learning as the concept of computer and network-based learning can be used by the educators in this era. One of the e-learning media is quizizz. The purpose of this research: to find out the improvement of student’s vocabulary through Quizziz application as game based learning. The subject of this research consist of 20 students in one of senior high schools in Cimahi. The design of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). Test and Questionnaire as instruments in this research. From the result of pre-test, the researchers found that the result of students’ vocabulary mastery was under average and still far from what was expected. The finding was supported by the result of students’ vocabulary scores. The average score of pre-test was 64,67. After the implementation of Quizizz in every cycle, the students’ vocabulary score were getting better. It can be seen from the result of students’ average score Cycle 1 was 71,37 and Cycle 2 was 81,31. It can be concluded that Quizizz can improve students’ vocabulary mastery and Quizizz can improve vocabulary classroom into a better situation.Abstrak: Menguasai kosakata sangatlah berguna bagi mempelajari Bahasa. Di era sekarang ini, guru dan dosen harus dapat menguasai teknologi dalam pembelajaran, maka keberadaan para guru tersebut memiliki peran penting. E-learning merupakan lonsep dari computer dan network based learning, yang dapat berguna bagi pelajar saat ini. Salah satu media pembelajaran e learning yang dapat digunakan adalah Quizizz. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana peningkatan kemampuan kosakata siswa melalui aplikasi Quizizz sebagai media pembelajaran berbasis game. Subjek dari penelitian ini berjumlah 20 siswa dari sebuah sekolah tinggi di wilayah Cimahi. Desain dari penelitian ini adalah Penelitan Tindakan Kelas. Test dan Quesioner digunakan sebagai instrument dalam penelitian ini. Dari hasil pre test, peneliti dapat menyimpulkan bahwa kemampuan penguasaan kosakata siswa masih jauh dari yang diharapkan. Hal tersebut mengacu pada nilai score yaitu 64,67. Setelah mengimplementasikan Quizizz di setiap siklunya, nilai siswa mengalami peningkatan. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari hasil tes di siklus 1 yaitu 71,37 dan 81,31 untuk siklus 2. Dari hasil penilaian tersebut maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa Quizizz dapat meningkatkan kemampuan penguasaan kosakata siswa, selain itu situasi kelas juga menjadi lebih baik.

Abstract

YouTube is the world’s considerable and most influential footage website. Students who use YouTube will be easier to get the information in learning. The aims of the research was to get on a significant outgrowth of utilize YouTube video to improve the students’ grammar ability. This research was quantitative, and it was conducted using a pre-experimental design, specifically a pre-test-post-test design with one group. The study focus was on seventh-grade students from Cimahi Junior High Schools in academic year 2020/2021 with a total sample was 36 students. In gathering data, the researcher used test and SPSS system to assay the contain data. The outcome revealed that value with data of post-test that mean score of pre-experimental post-test (88,75) was considerable than pre-test (72,50), and the worth of the paired T-test (0.000) was underneath than 0.05. In other words, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted because the method of learning YouTube video significant to improve students’ grammar ability.
