Abstract

Based on preliminary observations obtained activity data and student learning outcomes are still low, especially subjects of mathematics, as many as 6 students or 28.23% of the students completed and 15 students or 71.78% of students have not been completed. Based on the above facts applied learning model of Jigsaw Cooperative type that aims to improve the activity and student learning outcomes in mathematics in comparison material and scale. The study involved 21 students of class VII SMPN 2 BUMIRATU Nuban in semester 1 Academic Year 2014 / 2015.This research used a Class Action Research (PTK) by using two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data collected by the observation sheet and test student learning outcomes in each cycle. From the analysis of the data shows that the use of cooperative learning model Jigsaw Type in the learning process of Mathematics students can increase  the activity and student learning outcomes. It can be seen from the average percentage of the activity of students in the first cycle was 55.5 and increased in the second cycle to 70.5. While the average value of student learning outcomes in the first cycle was 58.75 and increased in the second cycle into 72.50

Abstract

This research was conducted to evaluate the yield potential of 19 somaclonal variants resulting from in vitro selection when planted under drought stress condition in the field. Field test was done by planting the variants, the parents, and checked varieties in the field during dry season, and was irrigated once a week for non-stress and once two weeks for drought stress treatment. Split-plot design arranged in a factorial (2 x 28) with three replications was used in this research. Observations were done on yield and yield components. Analysis of variance was used to see the difference between treatments and then it was continued with analysis using Honestly Significant Difference test to find out the best treatments. There was no interaction between genotype and drought stress on seed yield. Different genotypes showed a significant difference on this character. It indicated that the yield potential of selected variants was not affected by drought stress treatment. This research gave 10 variants having the potential to be developed as drought resistant genotypes. However, these ten potential genotypes need to be tested further in field trial to find out the yield adaptability and stability and their resistance to drought stress.   Keywords: somaclonal variants, in vitro selection, drought stress, soybean, selection

Abstract

Media courses and learning are courses that describe the basic concepts of knowledge, theoretical understanding, and practice of effective and efficient learning media in the teaching and learning process. The e-module was developed using the Dick and Carey (2005) model which has 10 steps, namely: 1) the stage of the need and determining general goals, 2) conducting a learning analysis, 3) identifying behaviors and early learners, 4) writing specific learning objectives, 5) compiling learning outcome tools, 6) developing learning strategies, 7) selecting and developing learning materials, 8) implementing and implementing formative evaluations, 10 carrying out evaluations, and carrying out evaluations. Modules that have passed the development stage that needs to be evaluated. The purpose of this development research is to produce e-modules for media and information and communication technology courses for learning in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Medan. The results of the development, based on the results, that the validity of the e-module material obtained a score of 92 which was in the very good category, the validity of the learning design was 93.91, the media aspect was 90.00. Student assessment 85.77. In conclusion, the E-module for media and typewriting courses for learning is suitable for use in classroom or online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The implication of this research result is used as input for lecturers. Fixing yourself is related to the problems that have been carried out and student achievement that has been achieved by paying attention to appropriate learning methods to improve student learning achievement.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of the Google Classroom-based flipped classroom model for teaching machining theory during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Medan, which impedes learning activities. In accordance with the current situation and conditions of the covid-19 pandemic, an alternative and appropriate solution is required, namely the application of the flipped classroom model based on the google classroom to improve student learning outcomes in the machining theory course. The flipped classroom model can assist students in achieving learning objectives in a manner that is considered simple. Through the Flipped classroom, lecturers at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Medan can utilize online learning to facilitate students' access to and study of course materials. It is crucial to conduct research on this issue for this reason. This research has three objectives: (1) to examine the learning outcomes of students who use the flipped classroom learning model assisted by Google Classroom in the treatment class; (2) to examine the learning outcomes of students who use the conventional learning model in the comparison class; and (3) to determine the effect of using the flipped classroom learning model assisted by Google Classroom on the learning outcomes of machining theory. The type of research employed is quasi-experimental. Class A and B students enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Education Study Program at the Faculty of Engineering, Medan State University, during the even semesters of 2020/21 comprised the population of this study. Researchers used cluster sampling (cluster random sampling) to select two classes from the population and determine the treatment class and comparison class. The data was derived from the results of observations and assessments of learning outcomes. In this study, descriptive and inferential statistical analysis were used to analyze the data. The results of the descriptive statistical analysis indicate that online learning methods result in higher average student learning outcomes (80,05) than traditional learning methods (64,45). On the basis of the results of an inferential statistical analysis, it is possible to conclude that the learning outcomes of machining theory attained by students using the flipped classroom learning model supported by Google Classroom are superior to or have a positive impact on the learning outcomes attained by students using conventional learning models.

Abstract

This study examines the limitations of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine facilities owned by the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Medan (JPTM FT UNIMED) which are obstacles for students in improving competence. From these problems, alternatives and solutions are needed, namely, utilizing the Nanjing Swansoft simulator software to improve the competence of CNC machining techniques. The lack of CNC machine facilities used in learning CNC machining engineering courses at JPTM FT UNIMED so research on this problem is still needed. This study aims to produce a video tutorial on how to operate a CNC machine using a Nanjing Swansoft simulator based on a YouTube channel. This study aims to produce a video tutorial on how to operate a CNC machine using a nanjing swansoft simulator based on a YouTube channel. The type of research used is research and development (Research and Development) from Borg and Gall. The feasibility of the product was carried out by validating media experts, material experts, learning design experts, small group tests, and field trials for students of JPTM FT UNIMED. Based on the results of product validation, the percentage of media expert assessment results is 92%, a material expert is 91%, and a learning design expert is 92%. Student responses in small group trials obtained a percentage of 92% and 93% in field trials. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the CNC Practice Video Tutorial Using the Nanjing Swansoft Simulator Based on the YouTube Channel that has been developed is feasible to be used as an alternative media for online learning for students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, State University of Medan.

Abstract

Abstrak.  Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tingginya biaya pakan pada usaha peternakan ayam milik Bapak Abdullah Sani di Medan Estate, Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan, Deli Serdang. Solusi yang ditawarkan oleh Tim PKM adalah mesin cetak pelet pakan ayam berkapasitas 100 kg/jam yang dirancang untuk mengurangi biaya pakan dan meningkatkan efisiensi produksi. Selain itu, diperkenalkan juga manajemen promosi berbasis media sosial serta manajemen pembukuan keuangan untuk memperkuat daya saing usaha. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan mesin cetak pelet mampu mengurangi ketergantungan pada pakan komersial serta menekan biaya operasional. Penerapan strategi pemasaran melalui media sosial turut memperluas jangkauan pasar. Dengan solusi yang diberikan, usaha peternakan menjadi lebih efisien, mandiri, dan berkelanjutan. Luaran kegiatan ini meliputi publikasi ilmiah, dokumentasi video, dan sertifikat hak cipta yang memperkuat dampak positif dari PKM ini. Kata Kunci: Mesin Cetak Pelet, Pakan Ayam, Efisiensi Produksi, Manajemen Promosi, Keberlanjutan

Abstract

Low Back Pain (LBP) is a prevalent health issue caused by improper posture during activities, resulting in pain, stiffness, or muscle tension in the lower back (Minghelli, 2017). It is a major cause of disability, particularly among adults, and a common reason for seeking healthcare (Bento et al., 2019). The Indonesian Ministry of Health (2022) reports that 60-80% of the global population experiences at least one episode of LBP in their lifetime. This study used a pre- and post-test two-group design with random assignment. Group I received Core Stability Exercise therapy, while Group II received Aquatic Exercise Therapy. Both groups underwent treatment twice weekly for eight weeks. The study involved outpatients at KRMT Wongsonegoro Hospital, Semarang. Results: Core Stability Exercise significantly reduced pain in myogenic LBP patients (p=0.00). Aquatic Exercise Therapy also showed significant pain reduction (p=0.00). A significant difference was found between the two therapies (p=0.036), with Aquatic Exercise Therapy having a greater effect (mean=3.942) compared to Core Stability Exercise (mean=3.275). Core Stability Exercise and Aquatic Exercise Therapy both significantly reduce pain in myogenic LBP patients, with Aquatic Exercise Therapy being more effective.

Abstract

Proses produksi keripik singkong kelompok IRT Usaha keripik singkong milik Bapak Mawardi di Jl. Pantai Labu, Dusun Cempaka, Gg. XI, Desa Beringin, Kecamatan Beringin, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Sumatera Utara, dihadapkan pada tantangan utama dalam hal lamanya proses perajangan singkong  yang masih dilakukan secara manual. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, solusi yang diberikan kepada mitra adalah pembinaan, pelatihan, dan penerapan mesin perajang singkong jenis rotasi pisau ganda. Tujuan dari PKM ini adalah meningkatkan kualitas dan kapasitas produksi keripik singkong serta keterampilan dalam penggunaan mesin tersebut. Program dilaksanakan melalui serangkaian tahapan, termasuk persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Evaluasi dilakukan dengan wawancara kepada peserta pelatihan setelah kegiatan selesai. Hasilnya menunjukkan efektivitas program dengan peningkatan keterampilan peserta dalam mengoperasikan dan memanfaatkan mesin perajang singkong jenis rotasi pisau ganda. Dengan demikian, penggunaan mesin modern ini memberikan solusi yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan kapasitas produksi keripik singkong, membawa dampak positif bagi usaha lokal di Deli Serdang.

Abstract

Abstrak.  Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan memperkuat produksi getah gambir di Desa Kentara, Kabupaten Dairi, sebagai komoditas ekspor. Kegiatan dimulai dengan pembuatan mesin pencetak endapan getah gambir dengan kapasitas 100 kg/jam, yang mampu menghasilkan cetakan berkualitas tinggi. Program ini juga mencakup penyuluhan dan pelatihan untuk mengoperasikan serta merawat mesin, serta edukasi tentang manajemen usaha dan pemasaran melalui media sosial dan e-commerce. Desain brand dan kemasan produk turut diberikan untuk meningkatkan daya saing di pasar ekspor. Evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan mitra dalam pengoperasian mesin dan pengelolaan usaha, serta keberhasilan dalam promosi produk secara online. Dengan program ini, diharapkan produksi getah gambir dapat meningkat, memperkuat daya saing komoditas gambir di pasar ekspor, dan memberikan dampak positif bagi perekonomian desa. Kata Kunci: Produksi getah gambir, komoditas ekspor, mesin pencetak, manajemen usaha, pemasaran online.

Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Chest physiotherapy and cough exercises are one of the commonly used methods as part of TB treatment. This study aimed to determine the effects of chest physiotherapy and cough exercises on sputum clearance and respiratory frequency in TB patients. Subjects and Method: This was a quasy experiment study with no control group. The study was conducted at Dungus Respiratory Hospital, Madiun, East Java. A sample of 26 TB patients was selected purposively. The independent variables in the study were effective cough and chest physiotherapy. The dependent variable in this study was sputum discharge. Chest and cough physiotherapy interventions are effective in patients 3 times. This study used a measuring instrument in the form of a sputum glass. The data collected were analyzed quantitatively using the Mann-Whitney test to determine the effect of chest physiotherapy and effective cough exercises on pulmonary tuberculosis conditions. Results: After combination interventions of chest physiotherapy and effective cough exercises, sputum released (Mean= 29.35; SD= 0.85) was higher than before (Mean= 23.65; SD= 0.68). Respiratory frequency after intervention (Mean= 25.88; SD= 0.73) was higher than before (Mean= 27.12; SD= 0.98). Conclusion: Sputum secretion and respiratory frequency are higher than before chest physiotherapy and cough exercises in TB patients.
