Abstract

The awareness and knowledge of the community regarding the utilization of renewable energy in the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector are currently not at their optimal levels. This research aims to describe the implementation and implications of a community empowerment program through socialization about renewable energy and the utilization of gerobak surya by MSMEs in Sapit Village. The research methodology employed consists of FGD and interviews. The research findings indicate an increase in community knowledge and awareness of renewable energy and its implementation through the utilization of gerobak surya by MSMEs in Sapit Village. This program has implications for the reduction of operational costs for MSMEs and facilitates access to a power source when selling or promoting their products in open spaces.

Abstract

Attendance fraud is often found in the presence of fake attendance from students. To overcome this problem, we apply the Haar-Like Feature Cascade method as the basis for building a face attendance system based on the Cognitive Internet of Things (CIoT). The proposed system works by representing local intensity patterns on the face image so that it will recognize students even from various frontal positions. The results of this research show a precise student face recognition that is able to recognize faces well. The conclusion of this research is that the Haar-like Feature Cascade method is able to detect faces precisely and can be used as a basis for developing student attendance technology based on the Cognitive Internet of Things.

Abstract

This paper analyzes two poems by indigenous women authors from America, Karenne Wood and Joy Harjo, centering on the deer image, “Deer Woman” and “Deer Dancer,” respectively. The deer image has certain significance for these authors and their communities, because deer were hunted to provide sustenance for their survival. In certain cases, in these communities, boundaries between the deer and the human could not be easily ascertained. The transformation of the deer into the human and vice-versa underscores the fluid boundaries of human relationships with other beings, as well as the power and agency that emanate from such transformation. Through a close reading of the two poems, analysis reveals a conception of female agency that centers on willing transformation and aims for complete union with another in the interest of community survival and well-being. These native women authors’ poetic representations of deer serve as a critique of female agency, which is usually and primarily defined from the perspective of Western feminists.

Abstract

This article examines the visual and discursive communication strategies employed by Indigenous peoples in Venezuela to counter negative representations constructed by non-Indigenous, particularly Western, media. Utilizing a qualitative approach through Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and visual semiotic analysis, this study focuses on two primary data sources: social media posts by President Nicolás Maduro and the Indigenous organization CONIVE (Consejo Nacional Indio de Venezuela). The research aims to explore how Indigenous communities construct counter-representations in response to colonial stereotypes such as exoticism, primitivism, passivity, and marginalization, which are frequently perpetuated by global media narratives. Framed by Hall’s theory of representation, Geertz’s concept of cultural identity, and Gramsci’s hegemony, findings show that Indigenous groups resist colonial stereotypes through media activism, cultural expression, and political advocacy. These efforts redefine Indigenous visibility and assert agency within global discourse. The study highlights the strategic role of community media in reclaiming narrative power and calls for stronger support for Indigenous communication rights.

Abstract

H.P. Lovecraft crafted an intricate mythos which initially did not find success until after his death, and his works, most notably “The Call of Cthulhu” (1928), were regarded to be a landmark towards the relevancy of occultism both in the field of literature and religious belief. The short story was regarded to be the staple of “cosmic horror” which Lovecraft applied to almost all of his stories. The paper analyze how “The Call of Cthulhu” influenced the belief of modern occultism, which can be inferred from the literary elements in the story. Further analysis will also identify how Lovecraft portrayed the subgenre “cosmic horror” to enhance the elements of occultism within the short story. In relation to the previous elements, the paper examine how a particular cult, Typhonian Order, was influenced by the elements of occultism used in the story.

Abstract

Abstract

Diabetic ulcers are serious complications of diabetes mellitus, leading to infection, amputation, and even death. Proper wound management is essential for healing and preventing further complications. This study employed a case study with a qualitative approach at Gunawan Mangunkusumo Regional Hospital. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and nursing documentation over 3 days using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation). Results: The subject was a 65-year-old female patient with a diabetic ulcer (grade 4) measuring 60 cm² on the left foot. The wound showed yellow-black tissue, exudate, and odor. Interventions included modern wound care using foam dressing and tulle gras. On day three, minimal granulation tissue appeared, exudate decreased, but impaired skin and tissue integrity remained unresolved. Modern dressing helped reduce exudate, initiate granulation, and relieve pain. However, diabetic ulcer care requires long-term commitment, continuous education, and strict glycemic control to support optimal wound healing.

Abstract

This study investigates gender dynamics and identity negotiation in Hafsah Faizal’s We Hunt the Flame (2019), focusing on the protagonists Zafira and Nasir as literary representations of resistance against patriarchal expectations. Set in the Middle East-inspired fantasy world of Arawiya, the novel presents Zafira disguising herself as a man to gain autonomy and Nasir concealing his compassion to maintain dominance. The research employs a qualitative method through textual analysis, applying Stuart Hall’s representation theory and Judith Butler’s gender performativity framework to examine how the narrative constructs gender identity and social power. The findings reveal that both characters experience identity suppression as a means of survival, reflecting mechanisms of marginalization akin to those faced by Muslim Americans. Zafira’s rejection of feminine labeling and Nasir’s internal conflict expose the costs of societal compliance, paralleling the experiences of Muslim women navigating stereotypes and Muslim men managing post-9/11 identity tensions. Literary symbols, language choices, and character interactions show how rigid gender roles are challenged within the story. The study argues that the novel critiques patriarchal norms by presenting a narrative where gender performances are survival mechanisms and forms of resistance. By connecting fictional experiences with real-world Muslim identity negotiations, the research contributes to discussions on gender, culture, and representation in contemporary young adult literature. It also opens space for further inquiry into how speculative fiction can serve as a lens for analyzing identity and social critique within marginalized communities.
