Abstract

The transition from face-to-face to online practical work, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, was unprecedented. Biology teachers are expected to integrate technology, pedagogy, and content knowledge to carry out online practical work successfully. Teachers' TPACK is performed, in part, during instructional planning. Therefore, study on how biology teacher performs their TPACK during online practical work is crucial. This study investigates biology teachers' TPACK on their instructional planning in practical work during online learning. The descriptive method was used with 42 participants who join as biology teacher association in Garut city. The Data was collected through a questionnaire, instructional planning document, and online interviews. The result shows several finding. First, biology teachers have a great belief on their TPACK. This indicates sustained integration of technology in learning even after this challenging time, for example, when blended learning is in the future. Second, biology teachers' TPACK based on their instructional planning is on three-level: recognizing, accepting, and adapting. Third, several opportunities, obstacles, and suggestions have been discussed by biology teachers. It is implied that this research promotes teacher professional development program to enhance their TPACK.

Abstract

This research is an experimental study which aims to see the effect of plant classification practicum activities in improving student’s logical framework and inference skills.  The subjects of the study is junior high school students who were randomly selected. The collected data was analyzed using Z and t tests to see the significance of the average student’s score. The criteria for the significance of practicum activities are achieved if the results of the Z and t test calculations differ significantly and the average students score is ≥ 75 students, as well as the number of students who get those score is 65 students. The results showed that average students’ performance score were 78.2 and 83.1. While question score were 79.5 and 79.2. As well as the results of X and t test calculations show there were a significance in students' grades. Thus the practical activities of plant classification effectively develop the framework of logic and inference skills of students. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh kegiatan praktikum klasifikasi tumbuhan dalam meningkatkan kerangka logika dan keterampilan inferensi siswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa SMP yang dipilih secara acak kelas. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunakan uji Z dan uji t untuk melihat signifikansi nilai rata-rata kinerja dan soal antara dua praktikum yang dilakukan. Kriteria signifikansi kegiatan praktikum tercapai jika hasil perhitungan uji Z dan uji t berbeda signifikan dan rata-rata nilai siswa ≥ 75 serta jumlah siswa yang mendapatkan nilai tersebut 65 siswa. Hasil analisis pada kedua praktikum didapatkan nilai rata-rata kinerja siswa yaitu 78,2 dan 83,1. Sedangkan hasil analisis pertanyaan pada kedua praktikum yaitu 79,5 dan 79,2. Serta hasil perhitungan uji Z dan uji t menunjukkan terdapat signifikansi nilai siswa. Dengan demikian kegiatan praktikum klasifikasi tumbuhan efektif mengembangkan kerangka logika dan keterampilan inferensi siswa. Kata kunci: kerangka logika, keterampilan inferensi, kegiatan praktikum, klasifikasi tumbuhanDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jbt.v8i3.21445

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out how the utilization of education technology development area in the manufacture of learning media by certified teachers in Garut Regency, West Java. This research is qualitative research using descriptive method. The research subjects involved were ten certified teachers. As a result of the research, all teachers have utilized educational technology in the manufacture of learning media, especially during the COVID-19 outbreak which has made the government implement distance learning, so that teachers are required to understand and master a variety of interesting learning media creation. Most teachers take advantage of computer-based media both online and offline, because it is more accessible to students. In addition, audio visual media is also the most used media by teachers, because it is considered to be a medium that can interest students in learning. In conclusion, the use of learning media by certified teachers mostly leads to the utilization of multimedia computer-based technology with more choice on audio visual materials both online and offline in providing learning materials, taking into account aspects of the availability of supporting facilities and infrastructure in schools. Abstract

This research was conducted to develop an Android-based learning media that is innovative and easy to use by teachers who have been certified in distance learning. The research method used is the Research and Development research method, the development stage refers to the Borg and Gall design which only focuses on 9 steps, namely potential and problem analysis, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, product testing, product revision, testing. user trial and product revision. Respondents in this study were biology teachers from high school and Madrasah Aliyah in Garut Regency who were certified as well as media and material experts. The results of the study show that android-based learning media is feasible to be developed, this is evidenced by the obtained average score of 3.6 in the good category. In conclusion, android-based learning media can be an alternative learning media that is effective, efficient, interesting, and can be used anywhere and anytime and can be used by teachers, especially Biology teachers who have been certified and are not yet so skilled in making learning media for use in learning. long distance. Abstract

Abstract The laboratory is a facility or place where there are scientific activities (practicum/research) to produce a scientific product (result). The existence of a lab rotaroium in schools is very necessary as a support for learning in the classroom. The main function of the laboratory is to study and prove a certain theory and to find or produce a scientific product (result). The laboratory becomes a means of practice for certain subjects that require practical activities. Based on these facts, it is necessary to manage the school laboratory. School laboratory management is needed so that the laboratory can run according to its function. The method used is an online lecture which contains an explanation of the basic concepts of laboratory management materials. The data analysis technique used is descriptive. The result of Pengabdian kepada Masayarakat is participants' understanding of how to properly manage school laboratories and their application so that laboratory management can run regularly in the school environment (SMP/MTS, SMA/MA). Abstrak Laboratorium merupakan sarana atau tempat dimana terdapat kegiatan ilmiah (praktikum/penelitian) untuk menghasilkan suatu produk (hasil) ilmiah. Keberadaan labarotaroium di sekolah sangat diperlukan sebagai penunjang pembelajaran di kelas. Fungsi utama Laboratorium adalah mempelajari dan pembuktian suatu teori tertentu serta menemukan atau menghasilkan suatu produk (hasil) ilmiah. Laboratorium menjadi sarana praktek bagi mata pelajaran tertentu yang membutuhkan kegiatan praktikum. Berdasarkan fakta tersebut maka diperlukan pengelolaan laboratorium sekolah. Pengelolaan laboratorium sekolah diperlukan agar laboratorium dapat berjalan sesuai dengan fungsinya. Metode yang digunakan berupa ceramah secara daring berisi penjelasan konsep – konsep dasar materi pengelolaan laboratorium dan teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah deskriptif. Hasil dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah pemahaman peserta tentang bagaiamana mengelola laboratorium sekolah dengan benar beserta penerapannya sehingga pengelolaan laboratorium dapat berjalan secara berkala di lingkungan sekolah (SMP, SMA/MA).

Abstract

Sampah adalah segala sesuatu yang tidak lagi memiliki kegunaan atau manfaat dan perlu dibuang. Sampah yang dihasilkan sebagai bagian dari aktivitas manusia telah merugikan lingkungan. Data menunjukkan bahwa sampah di tempat pembuangan akhir (TPA) sebagian besar berasal dari sampah domestik. Pengelolaan sampah domestik sangat efektif jika dilaksanakan sebelum masuk ke TPA. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan kegiatan pengabdian tentang pengelolaan sampah domestik yang bertujuan untuk mewujudkan lingkungan minim sampah. Pengelolaan sampah dilakukan dengan menerapkan prinsip 3-ah (cegah, pilah, olah). Peserta pengabdian adalah wali murid Sekolah Dasar Kreospora Ecoschool dan masyarakat yang tinggal di sekitarnya. Pengabdian dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengedukasi dan menginisiasikan gerakan minim sampah. Pengabdian dilaksanakan melalui metode ceramah dan responsi. Peserta mendapatkan edukasi melalui Zoom Meeting kemudian setelahnya diberi penugasan (responsi) melalui WhatsApp Group untuk mendampingi praktik pengelolaan sampah domestik. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner skala Likert. Hasil pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan peserta mengenai pentingnya dan cara mengelola sampah domestik serta peserta dapat mengaplikasikan prinsip 3-ah (cegah, pilah, olah) tersebut.

Abstract

There is a need to prepare college students with non-cognitive or 21st Century skills to prepare them for successful college and future careers. As the number of applied STEM in Indonesian education increases, research is needed to understand how STEM learning projects promote student 21st Century skills. This study used a case study and mixed-methods conversion design to convert qualitative data into quantitative data by applying pre-established rubrics. This study provides evidence that STEM learning projects are beneficial to promote students' 21st Century skills, which are: (a) knowledge construction, (b) real-world problem solving, (c) skilled communication, (d) collaboration, and (e) self-regulation. The result shows that students demonstrate the highest grade on collaboration and the lowest on knowledge construction. Although most of the student work introduced multiple 21st Century skills and the overall scores were satisfactory, student knowledge construction still needs improvement. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jbt.v11.i1.27046

Abstract

Research and practice in educational settings should consider exploring the rich diversity of emotions experienced by students outside classroom settings, including nature clubs, as a conservation education program. This study aimed to conduct an exploratory case study to explore students' academic emotions during conservation education programs. The case study was carried out for four weeks to determine what can be learned from a single case about the students’ emotional aspects of the conservation education program in the Nature Club. Data collection is conducted through observation, interview, and collection of documents at the end of every activity. The data consisted of field notes and videotapes from observation, interview transcripts, and student emotions diary (SED). The research participant was 21 elementary students aged 9 to 11 who joined the Nature Club conducted by the Little Fire Pace (LFP) Community as one of their conservation education programs. The result shows that conservation content which is also part of science, can be learned and stimulate the emergence of students' academic emotions, both positive and negative. The dominant emotion in nature club activities is the happy emotion, and the slightest emotion arising from this activity is disgust. Then the results of student interest in all activities were more remarkable than boredom. Finally, suggestions are made on implications for teacher or pre-service teacher education for conservation or science education.

Abstract

Pada tahun 2020 pendidikan mengalami banyak perubahan dikarenakan efek dari pandemi Covid-19. Kurikulum merdeka mengedepankan konsep “Merdeka Belajar” bagi siswa yang dirancang untuk membantu pemulihan krisis pembelajaran yang terjadi akibat adanya pandemi Covid-19. Diperlukan sebuah penelitian untuk menggali pandangan siswa dan guru terhadap kurikulum merdeka tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi kurikulum merdeka di MAN 1 Garut serta persepsi siswa dan guru terhadap implementasi kurikulum merdeka dalam mata pelajaran biologi. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik Proporsional Random Sampling. Subjek penelitian adalah 3 guru biologi dan 178 siswa yang diambil sebagai sampel. Persepsi siswa dan guru biologi dilihat dari 3 indikator yaitu penerimaan, pemahaman dan penilaian. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa siswa dan guru biologi kelas X MAN 1 Garut sudah mengimplementasikan kurikulum merdeka dan 3 indikator pada kategori baik.
