Abstract

Management as a role is mentioned as administration, and management as a task is to carry out management functions. The notion of the need for management in the Unisla Ponpesma is seen as a necessity in order to survive in the midst of competition and globalization, as well as a foundation for future developments. Educational management has an important role in order that the Islamic boarding school can run effectively and efficiently in accordance with the goals set. PHP is a script used to create dynamic web pages. Dynamic means the page to be displayed is created when the page is requested by the client. This mechanism causes the information received by clients is always the latest or up to date. All PHP scripts are executed on the server where the script is run. MySQL can be defined as a database management system. The database itself is a data storage structure. Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Politeknik Negeri Jember. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk memberikan gambaran secara jelas dan tepat tentang kemampuan dosen dalam menulis abstrak dengan menggunakan Bahasa Inggris. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis kesalahan gramatikal apa saja yang terdapat dalam penulisan abstrak berbahasa Inggris pada beberapa jurnal di lingkungan Politeknik Negeri Jember. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan diskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk memperoleh gambaran tentang gambaran yang tepat tentang jenis-jenis kesalahan penggunaan Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing oleh dosen dalam menulis abstrak berbahasa Inggris.  Penelitian ini dimulai dari masalah (problem) dan landasan teori. Data yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini adalah data sekunder yaitu berupa tulisan abstrak berbahasa Inggris dari dari artikel yang dimuat pada beberapa jurnal yang ada di lingkungan Politeknik Negeri Jember. Sedangkan sampel dalam penelitian ini diambil dengan sampling acak strata (Stratified Random Sampling). Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisa dengan menggunakan Teknik Analisa Diskriptif (Descriptive Analysis Technique).

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di SMK Negeri 3 Jember. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan untuk memberikan kontribusi kepada mitra dalam rangka pengembangan kualitas pendidikan dan pengajaran. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah unutk mengembangkan media pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yaitu video tutorial tentang table manner yang efektif dan menarik bagi siswa SMK Negeri 3 Jember, memanfaatkan media dalam proses pembelajaran bagi siswa SMK Negeri 3 Jember dan eningkatkan minat dan prestasi belajar Bahasa Inggris, khususnya teantang table manner, para siswa SMK Negeri 3 Jember. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan selama empat bulan dengan melibatkan guru Bahasa Inggris dan para siswa SMK Negeri 3 Jember. Luaran yang dihasilkan dari kegiatan ini adalah media pembelajaran dalam bentuk video tutorial manner sebagai media pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

This final project aims to address the challenges of monitoring students' development in Islamic boarding schools by leveraging technological advancements. The background of the problem highlights the insufficient supervision by parents over their children in boarding schools due to busy schedules and limited information received. The proposed application provides a solution by delivering real-time information on students' progress to parents, enabling them to monitor their children's grades and attendance remotely. The goal is to establish improved communication patterns between the boarding school and parents, as a step towards advancing education in Indonesia. Through research and testing, the Monitoring Activities of Students Application in High School-Level Education at Mamba’ul Maarif Islamic Boarding School in Denanyar Jombang has proven to be efficient and capable of providing detailed student data. The conclusion of this research indicates that the application has the potential to assist parents in better understanding their children's development during their stay at the boarding school

Abstract

This study examined the Basic English ommunication skills of the Students of Clinical Nutrition Study Program at Politeknik Negeri Jember, especially in the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year who are taking the Basic English Class. Using a quantitative and descriptive research approach, data was collected through tests designed to assess students' knowledge of English expressions used in everyday life. The test consists of 71 questions covering four topics. The test results showed good scores with most of the scores were categorized good and very good. Beside that, the difficulty index for each part of the test showed that students can answer the questions of the test that were categorized easy and very easy. The results of this study showed that students have good Basic English communication skills to prepare the students in entering the workplace in globalization era.

Abstract

The digital literacy level of the Indonesian young generation is still low. Therefore, the students need to be equipped for digital literacy from an early age. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and skills of the students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Darul Kholili Jember. In this basic digital literacy training, the presenter used several mixed approaches, they are lecturing, discussion, and practice. The materials taught in this training include Digital Literacy, Digital Culture, Digital Ethics, Media Sosial Education and Cyber Bullying. After delivering the material, the presenter opened a discussion and question answer session, the participants were asked to practice the material that had been discussed. During the training, participants were very enthusiastic also active in discussion sessions and asked questions. It is hoped that this activity will contribute to the development of participants’ digital literacy. The result of this training activities showed that the students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Darul Kholili Jember have a good knowledge improvement in their digital literacy, however in the process of literacy digital training there were still some things that must be improved.

Abstract

English reading skill is a fundamental skill that is crucial in education, particularly in today's globalized world. However, many Vocational High School (SMK) students still face challenges in comprehending English texts, stemming from limited vocabulary, limited reading strategies, and a lack of contextual learning. This community service activity was conducted at SMK Swasta Islam (SMKSI) Darul Istiqomah Jember to provide students with basic English reading skill training. The training focused on mastering reading strategies such as skimming, scanning, determining topics, identifying main and supporting ideas, and answering questions using WH-Questions. The implementation method included initial observation, material preparation, interactive lectures, practice exercises, and evaluation. The results showed that the training successfully improved students' ability to comprehend English texts more effectively and efficiently. Furthermore, it increased students' motivation and confidence in reading English texts, and provided an initial understanding of functional texts relevant to the world of work. This activity is expected to be a real contribution in improving the quality of vocational high school students' English literacy and supporting their readiness to face the demands of the global workforce.

Abstract

This study aims to explore students' perceptions of creating digital video projects as a tool for teaching and improving speaking abilities. A descriptive qualitative research design was applied, involving 50 students enrolled in the Intermediate English course during the second semester of the Machine Automotive Study Programme at Politeknik Negeri Jember. Data collection techniques included questionnaires distributed via Google Forms, consisting of multiple-choice and open-ended questions, complemented by semi-structured interviews to gain deeper insights. The focus was on understanding how students perceive the effectiveness of digital video projects in enhancing their speaking skills and overall language learning experience. The findings revealed that most students had a positive attitude toward creating digital video projects, stating that such activities significantly enhanced their confidence, fluency, and pronunciation in English. Many participants emphasized that digital video projects encouraged them to practice speaking repeatedly, which contributed to reducing anxiety and improving their performance. The study also found a clear connection between students' intrinsic motivation to improve their speaking skills and the perceived benefits of completing digital video tasks. Additionally, students highlighted the creative aspect of video-making, which fostered collaboration, critical thinking, and self-expression. The role of the lecturer was identified as crucial in guiding students throughout the project, particularly in overcoming technical and linguistic challenges. The study concludes that integrating digital video projects into speaking lessons not only improves speaking ability but also motivates learners to take active participation in language learning.

Abstract

Evaluasi kinerja dosen merupakan salah satu aspek penting dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di perguruan tinggi. Salah satu cara untuk melakukan evaluasi ini adalah dengan menganalisis tingkat kepuasan mahasiswa terhadap proses pendidikan dan pengajaran yang diberikan oleh dosen. Dalam penelitian ini, digunakan metode K-Means Clustering untuk mengelompokkan data kepuasan mahasiswa yang dikumpulkan melalui Penjamin Mutu, dengan jumlah data sebanyak 543.652. Pengolahan data dalam jumlah besar memerlukan metode yang tepat agar hasil analisis lebih akurat dan dapat diinterpretasikan dengan baik. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini mengembangkan model clustering berbasis K-Means serta mengimplementasikannya dalam sistem berbasis website. Proses K-Means Clustering dimulai dengan menentukan nilai centroid secara acak, kemudian iterasi dilakukan hingga tidak ada perubahan nilai centroid antara satu iterasi dengan iterasi berikutnya. Pengujian dilakukan menggunakan Google Colab dengan evaluasi menggunakan Davies-Bouldin Index (DBI). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode K-Means berhasil mengelompokkan dosen ke dalam empat cluster, yaitu: (1) Cluster 4 (Kategori Unggul) dengan 83 dosen (42%), (2) Cluster 3 (Kategori Baik) dengan 63 dosen (31%), (3) Cluster 2 (Kategori Cukup) dengan 45 dosen (23%), dan (4) Cluster 1 (Kategori Kurang) dengan 8 dosen (4%). Nilai DBI sebesar 0,260 menunjukkan bahwa hasil clustering memiliki tingkat akurasi yang baik. Dengan adanya pengelompokan ini, evaluasi kinerja dosen dapat dilakukan secara lebih efektif, sehingga institusi dapat mengambil langkah strategis dalam meningkatkan kualitas pengajaran dan kepuasan mahasiswa.
