Abstract

Primates are considered very importance since they can help forest regeration that can also be an indicator of  forest health. Health population in the forest areas also suggest the possibility of other species of animals that is also still present in a considerable number. This reschearch was conducted in the management section of the Region ii Semitau of Sentarum National Park Kapuas Hulu. This study aims to reveal the existing primate diversity and population in each group. This research was conducted from December 2014 using a survey method with a transect of 1000 meters long 100 meters wide as a sample unit. The results show that the number of primates found was as many as 145 individuals consisting of 3 (three) species. These species are orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus), probscis monkey (Nasalis larvatus), long-tailed macaque (Macaca fascicularis). Species diversity index value was 0.8594; Evenness index value was 0.7821; Dominance index value was 0.4649 and species richness index value was 2.1613.Keywords: Kapuas Hulu, National Park, Population, Primates, Sentarum Lake, Species Diversity

Abstract

Species diversity is a characteristic of a society based on levels of biological organization, can be used to express the structure of society. This study aims to determine the level of species diversity of vegetation and to determine the types of stands that have the potential as a producer of seed. The method used is a double plot method by means of laying in a systematic sample plot sampling. The dokument is taken from tree species, diameter and height were found on the growth rate at the level of the pole and tree level in 49 plots of observation. From the results obtained by the type of vegetation found in the area of seed orchards candidate showed a fairly high level of diversity, with the kind of stands that have the potential as a producer of seeds isVatica rassak, Shorea Leavis, Shorea parvifolia, Shorea sp, Shorea leprosula, Shorea ovalis, Dryobalanops beccarii and Dipterocarpus caudatus. Keywords : Diversity, vegetation and sheed orchards

Abstract

Research goal is to investigate the dynamics of vegetation,  composition and type of vegetation that grows naturally in the area used for cultivation in natural forest village where formerly the foreman that former shifting cultivation area has long been neglected and suffered natural regeneration. To determine the distribution and abundance of several types of vegetation used in the field by the method of vegetation analysis or transect lines by laying the first swath of purposive sampling (intentionally). In this study with the observation made 3 lanes each path length ± 300 meters and a width of 20 meters. Distance between lines 100 meters, in one lane there were 15 plots observation that in one location observation plots contained 45 observations. So extensive observation location throughout the area used for cultivation is 1,8 Ha x 3 jalur = 5,4 Ha. Of the result of this study concluded to have formed the dinamics of vegetation in the area used for cultivation, this has caused the formation of patterns of diversity and structure of forest vegetation and forest vegetation that is already in a state of climax. Abstract

The existence of indigenous forest is very important as it constitutes a source of the see-producing area and can be also user as a research site. Unfortunately, the information about types of vegetation in the area of Bukit Tunggal forests is relatively scarce. This research aims to describe the vegetation diversity in Bukit Tunggal forests and to identify types of vegetation which are the most dominant in the area. This research was conducted for 4 week in the indigenous forest of Bukit Tunggal at Batu Nanta Village, Belimbing sub-district, Melawi. A survey method was employed in this research through a vegetation analysis with a line of terrace. The research was carried out by creating 3 lanes with the length and distance of each lanes varied depending on the condition of the field. Results of the discussion showed that there were 77 types of vegetation which could be grouped into 37 families ranging from a seedling stage (including lower plants, shrubs, bushes, and lianas), stapling, poles, to trunks. The vegetation diversity in Bukit Tunggal forests indicated that the area had a high diversity with a good conservation value. In addition, the forests has various germplasms. Results of a quantitative analysis of crucial value index (INP) at every growth level in general was dominated by meranti (Shorea spp.) of Dipterocarpaceae family. There needs, therefore, efforts to preserve the existence of this area in addition to the current conservation which has been planned and executed well, for example by enriching types and rehabilitation. Keywords: Indigenous forests of Bukit Tunggal, diversity, crucial value index, and type domination.

Abstract

The utilization of plants as a source of life that is done in order to fulfill the daily needs with the ability to adapt, will try to satisfy their needs according to availability around them. The ethnobotany of  traditional use of  plants by the community  is essential to keep the knowledge of their wisdom in the  use of plants.   This study  aims to determine the types and parts of plants used by rural communities Pesaguan Kanan. The benefits of the research are expected to maintain the existing knowledge in the community to develop  forest resources. This research is using snowball sampling method tointerview by the number of respondents as many as 60 people. Data from interviews conducted directly are analyzed in order to obtain results in the form of a systematic and accurate description.  From the results of research there are 200 species of plants which are grouped into 76 families consisting of food plants 91 species, medicinal plants 73 species, coloring material plants 7 species, plant pesticide plant 3 species, ornamental plants 56 species,  fodder plants 9 species, wood-producing plants 10 species,  plant materials 12 species,  plant producing rope, webbing and  crafts 14 species. Based on the results, it turned out that one  kind  of  plant has more than one benefit. Advice given is that there is a need for the availability of useful plants in the forest and around the community. Keywords: Ethnobotany, Plant used, Pesaguan village, Identification
