Abstract

The laundry industry is one of the industries that is growing rapidly at this time. The development of this industry cannot be separated from the growing need for human clothing. While carrying out their work, laundry workers have a risk of exposure to laundry chemicals. However, most laundry workers do not understand these risks and how to prevent and handle them. This service activity aims to provide counseling to laundry workers regarding the risks of laundry chemicals and the application of occupational safety and health in the laundry industry. Counseling was carried out directly to one of the laundry industries in Tangerang City, involving 14 laundry workers. The material provided includes various types of laundry chemicals, potential hazards, how to prevent them and the need for OSH applications such as the use of PPE in work. The results of the activity evaluation show that this counseling activity has an impact on increasing the knowledge of laundry workers regarding the risks of laundry chemicals and how to prevent and handle them. Evaluation of the usefulness of the activity and the activity presenter gave the result that the presenter conveyed the material clearly so that all laundry workers agreed that this extension activity was very useful.

Abstract

Tangerang is counted among Indonesia's fastest-growing industries and population since it is located near the capital. At the current rate of population growth, the population by 2035 is expected to reach more than 2 million by appliying the geometric method. Rapid population growth has severe environmental damage. A simple linear regression calculation was applied to predict the Tangerang waste generation and it is expected to grow to 1,57 million tonnes by 2035. The Pearson's correlation was used to examine the impact of population growth in Tangerang on waste generation. Overall, there is a positive correlation between population growth and waste generation. The increase in the amount of waste can affect the formation of leachate. Rawa Kucing is the main Tangerang landfill that implements an open dumping system in its waste management. One of the negative impacts of the open dumping system is the potential for leachate generation. This study performed a simple calculation of leachate volume to illustrate leachate generation in Rawa Kucing. The more leachate produced, the greater the level of contamination since it contains highly toxic components, and it will escape from the Rawa Kucing landfill, contaminating the groundwater, potentially polluting the environment and harming human health.

Abstract

Mitra kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat adalah PT Binatu Jaya Laundry yang bergerak pada bidang jasa laundry. Aktivitas pada perusahaan ini masih banyak menggunakan tenaga manusia dengan manual handling. Apabila aktivitas fisik manual ini dilakukan secara berulang dalam jangka waktu yang lama maka dapat menyebabkan musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Permasalahan manual handling dan beban kerja fisik berlebih ditemukan pada berbagai aktivitas seperti, penyortiran, washing, ironing dan packing. Tujuan dilaksanakannya kegiatan ini untuk memberikan penyuluhan kepada mitra terkait langkah-langkah untuk meminimasi MSDs dari segi penyebabnya, contoh aktivitas manual handling yang sesuai standar dan aktivitas peregangan yang dapat dilakukan di sela-sela pekerjaan. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan dalam bentuk penyuluhan pada 14 karyawan PT Binatu Jaya Indonesia (BIJI Laundry) di daerah Tangerang, Banten. Penyuluhan berupa materi penggunaan metode Manual Handling dan Biomekanika untuk minimasi MSDs. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan sudah tepat sasaran dan materi sudah disampaikan dengan baik. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil kuisioner evaluasi yang menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada yang memberikan jawaban negative (tidak setuju atau sangat tidak setuju) pada kuisioner feedback terkait evaluasi pelaksanaan pelatihan.

Abstract

The digital era has brought major changes to the education, including Science learning at the junior high school level. However, science learning at the junior high school level still needs several challenges, such as a lack of variety in learning media, low interest in learning science, and limited students' ability to understand science concepts. Based on these problems, the Physics Laboratory of Universitas Trisakti held a Community Service (PkM) activity in collaboration with MGMP IPA of Tangerang. Service activities are carried out in the form of training for science teachers with training materials to improve brain memory abilities and training on the digitalization of science learning with ThingLink interactive media. Teachers are often faced with various challenges in teaching, including the complexity of science material, the rapid development of science and the high workload of teachers. Training to improve brain memory abilities can help improve teachers' ability to remember information, focus and concentrate. Furthermore, training on digitizing science learning using ThingLink is considered important to carry out. ThingLink is a digital platform that allows the creation of interactive science learning content, simulations and virtual experiments that are interesting and easy for students to understand. This PkM activity can increase teacher competency and professionalism in teaching, so that it can improve the quality of science learning in the classroom. This training can be carried out sustainably by collaborating with more educational partners.

Abstract

The self-potential (SP) method investigated leachate distribution near Rawa Kucing. Rawa Kucing is the main landfill in Tangerang that burned almost the entire area. A total of 78 SP data points were scattered throughout the study area. The SP values range from -20 to 16 millivolts, dominated by negative values attributed to electrokinetic processes. The results suggest that a highly conductive zone in the study area may have been caused by high contamination from leachate. The possible direction of leachate flow is towards the Cisadane stream, located west of the landfill. On the other hand, a quantitative interpretation of SP was conducted for two profiles, AA’ and BB’. The result shows that the vertical spreading of leachate was found at a depth of h 6,59 and 3,53 meters and H 8,10 and 4,34 meters for AA' and BB', respectively, with an angle of 28,810. Additionally, groundwater samples were collected from four sites near the landfill to assess groundwater quality using physical and chemical analysis. Based on the Indonesian Ministry of Health Regulation, most parameters indicated low contamination. Statistical analysis revealed that the groundwater near the landfill was worthy of consumption. Based on the results, rainfall during the study significantly reduced the concentrations of contaminants in leachate due to dilution.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengolahan sampah di tingkat komunitas memiliki risiko keselamatan kerja yang tinggi, khususnya bahaya fisik dan mekanis. Namun, aspek ini sering diabaikan dalam pelatihan keselamatan. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan pekerja dalam mengenali dan mengendalikan bahaya fisik serta mekanis di lingkungan Bank Sampah Induk (BSI) Rumah Harum Kota Depok. Pelatihan dilaksanakan secara edukatif dan partisipatif, dengan melibatkan tujuh peserta yang merupakan perwakilan inti dari tim operasional mitra. Materi pelatihan mencakup definisi bahaya fisik dan mekanis, teknik identifikasi dan analisis risiko, strategi pengendalian, serta penggunaan APD. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test, serta kuesioner akhir pelatihan. Hasil pre-test menunjukkan rata-rata skor 65,71 dan meningkat menjadi 74,29 pada post-test. Meskipun terdapat penurunan skor pada sebagian peserta, pelatihan tetap menunjukkan tren peningkatan pemahaman secara umum. Kuesioner menunjukkan bahwa seluruh peserta menilai materi relevan, penyampaian efektif dan pelatihan bermanfaat. Seluruh responden juga menyatakan perlunya pendampingan lanjutan serta mengharapkan topik lanjutan seperti penyusunan SOP keselamatan kerja. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan mampu meningkatkan kesadaran terhadap pentingnya keselamatan kerja dan membuka peluang penguatan praktik K3 di sektor pengelolaan sampah. Ke depan, pelatihan lanjutan dan pendampingan teknis sangat direkomendasikan agar dampak pelatihan lebih optimal dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Accuracy in measuring local gravitational acceleration remains a challenge due to the limitations of conventional experimental approaches and the influence of dynamic system conditions. Furthermore, few studies have integrated numerical simulation methods to enhance precision in the context of nonlinear oscillatory motion. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the dynamics of a damped physical pendulum and to evaluate the accuracy of local gravitational acceleration measurements by integrating experimental methods with numerical simulations. This is a quantitative study employing a quasi-experimental design. The research subject consisted of a single set of physical pendulum apparatus in the form of a homogeneous metal rod, with no human participants involved. Data were collected by measuring the oscillation period using a high-accuracy digital stopwatch and the effective length using a roll meter. Instruments were validated based on classical physics principles and result consistency tests. Numerical simulations were performed using the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method (ODE45). Data analysis included quantitative descriptive analysis, comparative analysis, relative error evaluation, and uncertainty identification. The results showed that the experimental gravitational acceleration value closely approximated the theoretical value, with a low relative error. It is concluded that integrating experimental and simulation approaches provides a more comprehensive understanding of pendulum dynamics and improves the accuracy of local gravity measurements. The findings imply the need for more complex dynamic models to support precision measurements in various fields such as geophysics, engineering, and education.
