Abstract

Bangka brand (BA) tin metal bar (ingot) has the highest defect percentage value of 2.01% from June to September 2021. This percentage exceeds the minimum non-conformity product standard of 0.25 %. This study aims to identify the types and factors that cause defects and propose improvements for the quality of products. The research uses the six-sigma method with DMAIC stages. Types of ingot defects include winging, rough surface, curved edges, bumps on the surface, presence of flakes, asymmetrical brand logos, spatters of tin metal, cracks/breaks, and exceeding weight specification. The results of the sigma level are 2.36 (variable data) and 3.15 (attribute data). The highest RPN value (240) occurs in the type of failure of the tin ingot test with the cause of failure, namely, the machine is experiencing troubleshooting. The second highest RPN value (210) occurs in the casting process with the cause of failure, namely the operator's lack of job mastery. Proposed improvements that can be implemented are the application of tin casting process work instructions. The implementation results show an increase in the sigma level to 2.44 (variable data) and 3.19 (attribute data).

Abstract

PT TIJ is a company that produces the local brand "LC," which is located in Depok, West Java. According to data for June-August 2022, there are significant product returns of around 1-7%, and a repair process is needed during production. Quality control at PT TIJ is carried out by checking goods one by one by supervisors and production operators. Recording quality problems is only done by labeling the products that need repair. The Quality Assurance (QA) department only records the number of products that need repair. Documentation of specific defects that often occur has never been done. Documentation is one of the essential things for quality control because quality data plays a significant role in making process improvement decisions. This PkM program is carried out by providing training materials for implementing an integrated system of sustainable quality management and the importance of quality data providing information related to problems in the production process. The conducted training increased the participants' knowledge regarding management and quality data. The usefulness of the training was confirmed directly to the participants through a questionnaire. The results showed that 77% of participants strongly agreed that the material was helpful, and 73% strongly agreed that the presenter delivered the quality management material well. Participants also provided suggestions regarding material for further assistance related to using a computer to use quality data analysis tools.

Abstract

Intisari-PT. Abstract— PT. XYZ is a pharmaceutical company that produces generic drug products. The demand for MEF medicinal products at PT. XYZ cannot be fulfilled because the MEF drug production process is not yet optimal. The research aims to evaluate minimizing the waste that occurs, in order to improve the performance of the MEF drug production process. Efforts to minimize waste use a lean manufacturing approach, which begins with mapping current value stream mapping (C-VSM) on MEF drug production process activities. The results of the C-VSM mapping show that 14 activities do not provide added value (non-value added) to products with 4 types of waste, namely waste waiting, defects, transportation and over processing. The MLT (manufacturing lead time) and PCE (process cycle efficiency) values on C-VSM are 324506 seconds and 39.13%. Proposed improvements for waste waiting include monthly operator training, adding shelves for placing main packaging procedure (PPI), preparing schedules and creating stripping machine inspection forms. The proposed improvement to minimize waste defects is to design a foil barrier tool and create a nozzle sensor cleaning form. Meanwhile, eliminating waste over processing is done by eliminating the white bill reconciliation activity. Future VSM is a VSM projection, if the proposed improvements are carried out, the MLT and PCE values are projected to reach 301716 seconds and 52.4%. There has been an increase in production process efficiency by 13.3% and a projected increase in production output, but it is still unable to meet production demand during peak periods. The recommendation for companies is to re-evaluate production targets according to resource availability in an effort to meet demand for MEF drugs.

Abstract

Purpose: This research on community involvement aims to provide education regarding waste sorting, training in gradual waste sorting, and processing organic and inorganic waste. Methodology: The method combines a structured process including field observations, comprehensive assistance, outreach on waste processing, discussions, and simple organic and inorganic waste sorting. Results: Before this Community Service Activity (PKM), most residents were already accustomed to sorting waste. However, only a few process it further, where only 22.2% process their waste. This training explains the types of waste, the importance of processing waste, and how to process it. After this activity, residents were enthusiastic and interested in learning to process organic and inorganic waste. After CSA activities, more residents wanted to process waste (organic: 64.3%, inorganic: 92.9%). Conclusions: The PKM successfully raised participants' awareness of the importance of waste processing beyond just sorting. Residents were interested in learning more to apply this practice and contribute to a better environment. This PKM activity needs to continue so that the community can fully implement waste sorting and processing in their surroundings. Limitations: The activities did not provide detailed waste processing practices, so the public still doubts carrying out independent waste processing. Time for activities and discussions with participants is also limited. Contribution: This activity increases residents' awareness about waste sorting and processing. The public is given knowledge about types of waste, how to sort waste, and waste processing to increase community participation in waste management.

Abstract

Accuracy in measuring local gravitational acceleration remains a challenge due to the limitations of conventional experimental approaches and the influence of dynamic system conditions. Furthermore, few studies have integrated numerical simulation methods to enhance precision in the context of nonlinear oscillatory motion. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the dynamics of a damped physical pendulum and to evaluate the accuracy of local gravitational acceleration measurements by integrating experimental methods with numerical simulations. This is a quantitative study employing a quasi-experimental design. The research subject consisted of a single set of physical pendulum apparatus in the form of a homogeneous metal rod, with no human participants involved. Data were collected by measuring the oscillation period using a high-accuracy digital stopwatch and the effective length using a roll meter. Instruments were validated based on classical physics principles and result consistency tests. Numerical simulations were performed using the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method (ODE45). Data analysis included quantitative descriptive analysis, comparative analysis, relative error evaluation, and uncertainty identification. The results showed that the experimental gravitational acceleration value closely approximated the theoretical value, with a low relative error. It is concluded that integrating experimental and simulation approaches provides a more comprehensive understanding of pendulum dynamics and improves the accuracy of local gravity measurements. The findings imply the need for more complex dynamic models to support precision measurements in various fields such as geophysics, engineering, and education.
