Abstract

The need for feed in fish-keeping ponds is vital for the survival of the fish that are kept. Some fishpond farmers still provide fish feed manually and it is felt to be inefficient. On the other hand, the focus of farmers can be focused on maintaining fishponds. This PKM activity utilizes appropriate technology as an automatic feed tool for spreading tilapia fish feed. The driving of this feed is connected to a controller which functions to regulate the spreader of tilapia feed regularly and the design is made to achieve the spread of tilapia feed with a large capacity of 50 kg each e day. The use of this tool was conducted in tilapia fish maintenance/cultivation using ponds/ponds on land. The placement location is in the Karawang sub-district, West Java.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the effect of heat flux on the frequency of bubbles appearing in boiling ponds. All fluid movement in pool boiling is caused by natural convection currents. The boiling pool consists of four areas of the pool boiling regime. The division of the four areas is based on the value of the heat flux and the difference between the surface temperature of the heater and the fluid. Using a two-phase heat transfer unit (H654 P.A. Hilton machine), The results showed that the power used greatly influences the boiling process, and besides that, the volume of water used also affects the duration of the boiling process. Based on tests using various power levels of 75 W, 110 W, 168 W, 237.5 W, and 290 W. The occurrence of bubbles will be faster and more numerous when using a lower volume of water and greater power. The heat transfer will be greater if a bubble appears, where latent heat plays a very important role. With mathematical analysis, an increase of 1 bubble per minute occurs for every increase in heat flux of 1.3 W/m2.

Abstract

Laundry services are essential to support other industries, such as tourism and health. Hospitals, hotels, and restaurants are customers of the laundry industry. Occupational health and safety risks in the laundry sector have become a government concern through the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia issuing the Hospital Laundry Ergonomics Guide. This activity aims to provide knowledge regarding occupational safety risk control for the laundry service industry. Workers in this sector face risks of ergonomics and chemical hazards. Ergonomics risk comes from lifting and transporting linen material in sorting, washing, and drying activities up to the final process. Workers need to be given the insight to care about safety and how to control the hazards they face. By carrying out this activity, it is hoped that participants will become more aware of occupational safety risk control to improve their quality of life.

Abstract

Pesticides are all chemicals and other substances, as well as microorganisms and viruses, which are used to eliminate or prevent pests and diseases that damage plants, plant parts or agricultural products. The use of pesticides in the agricultural sector is still widely used even though pesticide prices are increasing every year. Indramayu is one of the largest agricultural lands in West Java, so the majority of Indramayu residents earn their living as farmers. The problem that farmers often encounter in using pesticides is a lack of knowledge and low awareness, which results in a lack of behavior to prevent the consequences of using pesticides, such as a lack of use of personal protective equipment by farmers when spraying with pesticides. The aim of the Community Partnership Program (PKM) is to help increase knowledge and understanding of how to prevent the impact of pesticide use on the farming community in Pawidean Village. This PKM takes the form of assistance, counseling or outreach, showing videos and making posters for farmers. Farmers hope that the results of this PKM will increase farmers' understanding of practices to prevent health impacts caused by the use of pesticides.

Abstract

Tangerang is counted among Indonesia's fastest-growing industries and population since it is located near the capital. At the current rate of population growth, the population by 2035 is expected to reach more than 2 million by appliying the geometric method. Rapid population growth has severe environmental damage. A simple linear regression calculation was applied to predict the Tangerang waste generation and it is expected to grow to 1,57 million tonnes by 2035. The Pearson's correlation was used to examine the impact of population growth in Tangerang on waste generation. Overall, there is a positive correlation between population growth and waste generation. The increase in the amount of waste can affect the formation of leachate. Rawa Kucing is the main Tangerang landfill that implements an open dumping system in its waste management. One of the negative impacts of the open dumping system is the potential for leachate generation. This study performed a simple calculation of leachate volume to illustrate leachate generation in Rawa Kucing. The more leachate produced, the greater the level of contamination since it contains highly toxic components, and it will escape from the Rawa Kucing landfill, contaminating the groundwater, potentially polluting the environment and harming human health.

Abstract

Porting & polishing is the process of enlarging the diameter of the cylinder head intake and exhaust duct holes, as well as smoothing the surface. This modification is carried out manually by a mechanic who has experience. This research examines changes in diameter and surface roughness on machine performance, namely power and torque. A number of samples with volume of cylinder 148,7 cc motorbikes were ported & polished manually for 1, 2 and 3 hours. Changes in diameter and surface roughness were recorded both before and after processing. Next, using a Dynoyet 250i dynamometer, power and torque measurements were carried out. A smooth surface will cause the fuel to touch the surface and evaporate, thus increasing the mixture of air and fuel because both are in the same phase and condition. Furthermore, in the diameter change range of up to 10.36% from the initial diameter, it was recorded that the increase in power and torque could reach 8.94%. In this way, porting & polishing is able to fulfill the racers' desires for competition activities

Abstract

Indonesia is the largest batik-producing country in the world. The batik industry is growing rapidly in Indonesia, apart from having a positive impact, there is also a negative impact, namely environmental pollution in waterways and groundwater sources due to liquid waste resulting from batik production. This colored and smelly waste can cause allergies and damage the quality of groundwater which is also a source of drinking water for the surrounding community. Apart from treating wastewater using IPAL, another solution is for batik craftsmen to be motivated and raise awareness to use natural, environmentally friendly dyes. This is what prompted the PKM activity "Training on Making Natural Batik Dye Using a Multifunctional Mixer Machine for Bekasi Batik MSMEs". In terms of quality, batik with natural dyes has a higher value than batik using synthetic dyes. Economically, there is still a large market for environmentally friendly batik, especially from customers who are environmentally conscious both at home and abroad. The method for making natural dyes, which used to be boiled using just a pan, will be improved by using a multi-function stirring machine, making it more productive, efficient, and hygienic so that natural dyes are not easily damaged. The manufacturing process time can also be shorter so that the overall production time is not disrupted. Increasing the awareness and ability of craftsmen in processing natural dyes is expected to also improve the quality of batik products and the environment around the production site. In the end, it is hoped that an increase in craftsmen's business will occur

Abstract

The digital era has brought major changes to the education, including Science learning at the junior high school level. However, science learning at the junior high school level still needs several challenges, such as a lack of variety in learning media, low interest in learning science, and limited students' ability to understand science concepts. Based on these problems, the Physics Laboratory of Universitas Trisakti held a Community Service (PkM) activity in collaboration with MGMP IPA of Tangerang. Service activities are carried out in the form of training for science teachers with training materials to improve brain memory abilities and training on the digitalization of science learning with ThingLink interactive media. Teachers are often faced with various challenges in teaching, including the complexity of science material, the rapid development of science and the high workload of teachers. Training to improve brain memory abilities can help improve teachers' ability to remember information, focus and concentrate. Furthermore, training on digitizing science learning using ThingLink is considered important to carry out. ThingLink is a digital platform that allows the creation of interactive science learning content, simulations and virtual experiments that are interesting and easy for students to understand. This PkM activity can increase teacher competency and professionalism in teaching, so that it can improve the quality of science learning in the classroom. This training can be carried out sustainably by collaborating with more educational partners.

Abstract

During the pandemic, the faculty of engineering at Trisakti University still used old apparatus and onsite learning in practical lectures, albeit with some COVID restrictions. Nowadays, when the pandemic is going out the faculty is trying to implement a new method in practical lectures using a smartphone-based application to enhance the effectiveness of physics experiments. This research aims to discover the students’ attitudes toward the use of Phyphox in physics experiments and to examine the differences in the attitude between students with various backgrounds, such as gender, department, smartphone use, and prior experience. Two hundred self-developed questionnaires were delivered to seven departments in the faculty of engineering that have participated in this research. The findings indicated that: gender correlated to significant differences in some factors of attitude; smartphone use did not affect attitude; students with prior experience showed more positive attitude; and the major taken by students correlated with majority of factors of attitude towards the use of Phyphox in physics experiment. This research article presents a case study of the integration of the Phyphox application, that utilises the smartphones' integrated sensors in hands-on physics experiments, in an inquiry framework.
