Abstract

ABSTRACT A heat transfer model has been developed for a naturally ventilated greenhouse under the tropical climatic conditions. In the tropical region, greenhouses are characterized by high exposure in solar radiation and air exchange through natural ventilation. Therefore in this research, incident angle of solar radiation on the greenhouse roof surface has been considered as an important factor to improve the accuracy in calculating the radiation received by the greenhouse. The heat transfer model consists of four layers represent the cover, inside air, floor surface and soil layers of the greenhouse. The model was applied to a naturally ventilated standard-peak greenhouse. A computer program was developed to predict the temperature of the inside air. Incident angle of direct solar radiation on roof surface and outside microclimate parameters data were used as the input values. Heat transfer equations were solved by using the Runge-Kutta Method while the angle of direct solar radiation with the roof surface was calculated by using the principles of geometry. Results show that the model performed well in predicting the temperature of the inside air as compared to that of the measure value.Diterima:  4 Januari 2007; Disetujui: 26 Pebruari 2007

Abstract

The hydroponic system is still constrained by the high cost of AB mix nutrients. This study aimed to determine the effect of adding rabbit urine as Liquid Organic Fertilizer (LOF) to the nutrient solution on the growth and yield of three varieties of pak choi (Brassica rapa L.) with a wick hydroponic system. The experiment used a split plot design for the main plot of LOF (K) which consisted of 3 levels, namely control (K0), mixture AB + 6 ml/l LOF (K1), and mixed AB + 12 ml/l LOF (K2), and sub plot of varieties (V) consisting of 3 levels, namely Nauli f1 (V1), Emone 26 (V2) and Green (V3). The results showed that increasing the concentration of LOF in rabbit urine in 12 ml/l nutrient solution did not have any significantly different result on the growth and yield of pak choi plants. However, Emone 26 varieties showed a very significant effect on growth and yield, with average values on the parameters of plant height, number of leaves, fresh weight, crown fresh weight and crown dry weight at 35 Days After Planting (DAP). 25.14 cm, 14.22 pieces, 94.69 g, 79.06 g, and 4.43 g, respectively. There was no interaction between the addition of LOF rabbit urine to the growth and yield of three varieties of pak choi on all parameters observed. Further research needs to be done on other hydroponic systems in order to obtain the right POC concentration to reduce the use of AB mix nutrients.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of various physical scarification and the level of potassium nitrate (KNO3) concentration on the germination of mountain soursop (Annona montana Macfad) seeds. This research was carried out at the Research Greenhouse in Purwodadi Botanic Garden, Research Center of Plant Conservation, Botanic Garden and Forestry, National Research and Innovation Agency from January to March 2022. The study used a randomized block design (RBD) which was arranged in a factorial manner and consisted of two factors. The first factor was various physical scarification of the seeds (without scarification, scratching, shearing, and sanding). The second factor was the concentration level of the KNO3 solution (0,2%, 0,4%, and 0,6%). There were 12 combinations with 3 replications so there were 36 experimental units. The parameters measured were germination age (days), normal germination percentage (%), abnormal germination percentage (%), maximum growth potential (%), germination capacity (%), and growth rate (%/day). The results showed that sanding physical scarification gave the best affect on parameter germination age (days) and germination capacity (%) of mountain soursop seeds. The concentration level of the KNO3 solution 0,6% gave the best affect for all parameters observed of mountain soursop seeds. There was no interaction between physical scarification and concentration level of the KNO3 solution for all parameters observed of mountain soursop seeds.

Abstract

Standard peak greenhouse is an adapted design for the humid tropical regions. Analysis of the greenhouse natural ventilation had been conducted using 3D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The objective of this research was to investigate the greenhouse natural ventilation performance on zero and low windspeed conditions. Solidworks® CFD software was used in this study. Climate data and greenhouse characteristics were used as inputs for the simulation. The results of CFD simulation were presented in 3D of airflow vectors in x, y, and z directions. Results of this study showed the importance of roof vents and sidewalls openings for efficient thermally driven ventilation.

Abstract

Mas Kirana banana (Musa acumunata L.) is a superior variety that has been inaugurated by the Ministry of Agriculture so it has great potential for cultivation. One of the successes of banana cultivation is sufficient irrigation. Drip irrigation is a watering method of choice that aims to utilize the very limited water availability efficiently. Banana plant water requirements can be calculated using the Cropwat 8.0 model. This research aims to determine the effect of drip irrigation scheduling calculated by Cropwat 8.0 at various time intervals on the growth of Mas Kirana banana (Musa acumunata L.) seedlings. This research used a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with one factor, namely interval (I), which consisted of 3 levels, including I1 (1 day, 1 watering at 09.00 WIB), I2 (1 day, 2 waterings at 09.00 WIB and 16.00 WIB), and I3 (1 day 3 times watering (at 09.00 WIB, 13.00 WIB, and 16.00 WIB). The treatment was repeated 4 times. The parameters observed were plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), stem diameter (cm), and leaf greenness (SPAD). The results showed that scheduling drip irrigation with the amount of water needed from Cropwat 8.0 at a time interval of 2 times a day (I2) had the best effect on the height parameters of five-month-old Mas Kirana banana seedlings. The I2 treatment also tends to give higher average values for the parameters number of leaves, stem diameter, and leaf greenness (SPAD). Keywords: Banana var. Salah satu keberhasilan budidaya pisang adalah pengairan yang cukup. Irigasi tetes menjadi pilihan metode pengairan yang bertujuan memanfaatkan ketersedian air yang sangat terbatas secara efisien. Kebutuhan air tanaman pisang dapat dihitung dengan menggunakan model Cropwat 8.0. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penjadwalan irigasi tetes hasil perhitungan Cropwat 8.0 pada berbagai interval waktu terhadap pertumbuhan bibit tanaman pisang Mas Kirana (Musa acumunata L.). Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) satu faktor yaitu interval (I) yang terdiri dari 3 taraf antara lain I1 (1 hari 1 kali penyiraman pukul 09.00 WIB), I2 (1 hari 2 kali penyiraman pukul 09.00 WIB dan 16.00 WIB), dan I3 (1 hari 3 kali penyiraman (pukul 09.00 WIB, 13.00 WIB, dan 16.00 WIB). Perlakuan diulangi sebanyak 4 kali. Parameter yang diamati adalah, tinggi tanaman (cm), jumlah daun (helai), diameter batang (cm), dan kehijauan daun (SPAD). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penjadwalan irigasi tetes dengan jumlah kebutuhan air hasil Cropwat 8.0 pada interval waktu 2 kali sehari (I2) memberikan pengaruh terbaik terhadap parameter tinggi tanaman bibit pisang Mas Kirana berumur lima bulan. Perlakuan I2 juga memberikan nilai rata-rata cenderung lebih tinggi pada parameter jumlah daun, diameter batang, dan kehijauan daun (SPAD). Kata kunci: Cropwat 8.0, Irigasi tetes, Pisang Mas Kirana

Abstract

Pada masa kini lahan pertanian produktif semakin berkurang, sehingga untuk membudidayakan tomat cherry membutuhkan teknologi alternatif, seperti budidaya dengan hidroponik. Sistem yang umumnya digunakan dalam hidroponik adalah sistem wick yang memanfaatkan sumbu sebagai penghantar nutrisi. Umumnya, nutrisi yang digunakan adalah larutan AB mix. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antar pertumbuhan dan hasil tomat cherry secara hidroponik sistem wick. Penelitian ini dilakukan di screenhouse Badan Penerapan Standardisasi Instrumen Pertanian Banten, Kabupaten Serang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode eksperimen dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Faktorial (RAK) dengan 2 faktor, dimana faktor pertama adalah jenis sumbu adalah kosentrasi nutrisi yang terdiri dari S1=kain flanel, S2=benang wol, S3=sumbu kompor, S4=tali kapas, sedangkan faktor kedua terdiri dari K1=1,900ppm, K2=2,300ppm, K3=2,700ppm, K4=3,100ppm, K5=3,500ppm. Masing-masing kombinasi perlakuan diulang sebanyak 3 kali, sehingga terdapat 60 satuan percobaan. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang kuat antara bobot buah dengan jumlah buah yang ditunjukkan dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,73. Sedangkan korelasi antara bobot buah dengan tinggi tanaman, serta antara panjang daun dengan lebar daun menunjukkan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,01 yang menandakan korelasi yang lemah antara kedua variabel tersebut.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of applying organic fertilizer and foliar fertilizer concentration on the growth and yield of red lettuce plants (Lactuca sativa L.). This research used a factorial randomized block design with 2 treatment factors using 2 levels and 4 levels in 3 replications. The first factor was organic fertilizer (coffee grounds and cow biourine) and the second factor was foliar fertilizer (Gandasil D). The result of the research showed that the application of organic fertilizer (coffee grounds and cow biourine) was able to have a real influence on the height of red lettuce plants at 1 – 4 WAP, the number of leaves of red lettuce plants at 2 and 3 WAP, the length of the roots of red lettuce plants, the wet weight of the roots of red lettuce plants, and wet weight of red lettuce plants canopy. Providing foliar fertilizer (Gandasil D) was able to have a real influence on the height of red lettuce plants 3 and 4 WAP, the number of leaves of red lettuce plants at 3 and 4 WAP, the length of the roots of red lettuce plants, and the wet weight of the crown of red lettuce plants. The interaction between organic fertilizer (coffee grounds and cow biourine) and foliar fertilizer (Gandasil D) was able to have a real influence on the height of red lettuce plants at 4 WAP, the number of leaves of red lettuce plants at 1 and 2 WAP, root length of red lettuce plants, and wet weight red lettuce plant header.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of providing a combination of hydroponic nutrition and the addition of CaCl2 on the growth and yield of hydroponic lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) with a wick system. The research was conducted at the Agricultural Instrument Standardization Center Banten Province and Lingkungan Sapiah, Panancangan, Cipocok Jaya, Serang City from April to June 2023. This study used a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of two factors. The first factor was a combination of nutrients with 3 levels, namely A1 (AB Mix 3 ml/l), A2 (AB Mix 1.5 ml/l + POC Nasa 3 ml/l), A3 (AB Mix 1.5 ml/l + Gandasil D 3 ml/l). The second factor was the concentration of CaCl2 with 2 levels, namely C1 (0 ppm) and C2 (650 ppm). The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, root length, stem diameter, plant wet weight, crown weight, weight loss, and stem hardness of lettuce. The results showed that the combination of AB Mix 3 ml/l + POC Nasa 3 ml/l gave he best effect on plant height 35 days after planting (DAP) (23.54 cm), number of leaves 35 DAP (7.81 leaves). The addition of CaCl2 concentrationof 650 ppm gave the best effect weight loss on 3 DAH (54.48%), 4 DAH (66.51%), 7 DAH (85.99%), and stem hardness on 0 DAH (0.96), 2 DAH (0.80), and 4 DAH (0.64). There was an interaction between the hydroponic nutrient combination treatment and the addition of CaCl2 on the parameters of plant height and number of leaves on 35 DAP.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of plant spacing and variation of weeding time on the growth and yield of curly red chili varieties of Kencana (C.annuum). This research was conducted at IP2TP Balitsa Serpong from May to September 2022. The experiment used a randomized block design (RBD) with 2 factors. The first factor was plant spacing (J) which consisted of 2 levels, namely J1 (50 cm x 50 cm), and J2 (50 cm x 60 cm). The second factor was weeding time (P) which consists of 5 levels, namely P0 - (With Weeds), P0 + (Without Weeds), P1 20 Days After Planting (DAP), P2 40 DAP, P3 60 DAP. Parameters observed included plant height (cm), number of leaves (strands), stem diameter (cm), fruit length (cm), fruit diameter (mm), number of fruit (fruit), fruit weight (g), number of fruit per plot (fruit), and fruit weight per plot (g). The J2 treatment gave the best results on the growth and yield of the Kencana variety but did not give the best results at 28 DAP, 1st harvest fruit diameter, and 3rd harvest fruit weight. The J2 treatment also gave the best results on the growth and yield of the Kencana variety but did not give the best results at 28 DAP, 1st harvest fruit diameter, and 3rd harvest fruit weight. The combination of plant spacing of 50 cm x 60 cm and weeding time of 60 DAP gave the highest average fruit length, which was classified as no 2 quality according to SNI.
