Abstract

This is a conceptional article which the writer proposes a concept of teaching English trhough Poem. The integrated of literature in language teaching is very important. The most widely used language in the world is English, there are many people need to learn English for communication. There are several ways of teaching English, one of them is through literature that is a part of a language, the use of literature in English language teaching can be as authentic material. There are many literary works that can be used for teaching English, one of them is the poem.Hypothetically, the use of poem in English language teaching can help the teacher improve the students’ English language skills and knowledge about the culture of the nation of English. In a class, a teacher should be creative and give the opportunity for students to use English actively and understanding the poem content.

Abstract

This study describes the speech disorder in latah patients in terms of phonology with the Clinical Linguistic approach. Latah is a linguistic behaviour that occurs when someone is shocked, accidentally issuing words spontaneously and not aware of what he/she is saying. The the subjects of the study were severe latah sufferers namely latah echolalia, coprolalia, and automatic obedience, totalling 3 people. The words spoken by latah sufferers become research material and are reviewed from the phonological aspect in a clinical linguistic perspective. The main requirement for latah people is shock. Latah sufferers should be valued more. The surrounding environment has an important role for the recovery of latah sufferers because basically latah sufferers are caused by the surrounding environment. To reduce and cure latah, sufferers must find peace of life. The rest, the sufferers are encouraged to do relaxation exercises, meditation, and concentration on a regular basis. This activity will help sufferers to recovery.

Abstract

Various studies investigated the use of video material in the English classroom. Several studies also observed the effectiveness of asynchronous learning, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, there are limited studies discussing the utilization of video material in asynchronous learning. This is quantitative research designed as a survey to obtain students’ perception of the utilization of video material in English asynchronous learning. This research points out that the students have a positive response to the utilization of video material in English asynchronous learning. They are convinced that English asynchronous learning with video is fun, efficient, effective, enjoyable, and easier to learn. The result also shows that the utilization of video material in English asynchronous learning has several benefits: it increases students’ comprehension of the learning material, increases students’ learning motivation, and helps the students enhance their vocabulary. Eventually, the students believe that the material can be explained well via video.

Abstract

Lack of knowledge and skills in developing sasirangan t-shirt media which can be used as profitable business opportunities, there is no initiator of the sasirangan t-shirt business among young people at the Banjarmasin Muhammadiyah Orphanage. Community Service Providing training and education related to sasirangan cloth, innovation in the form of t-shirts, providing motivation and inspiration for creative entrepreneurship as business opportunities that can be developed with the hope that there will be interest in developing into independent creative businesses. The method used is lectures providing material and direct practice. As a result of this training, the young people at the Yatim Putra Muhammadiyah Orphanage were able to understand and practice it directly in the process of making sasirangan using t-shirt media with the given working mechanism. Of the fifteen participants who took part in this training, all of them succeeded in making sasirangan t-shirts which were shown in the final process where the participants had gone through a series of manufacturing stages starting from drawing patterns, basting, threading, dyeing colors, releasing threads to drying. From this training, it can be concluded that all participants, the majority of whom are male, have talent in making this sasirangan and have an interest in being able to create according to trendy and contemporary motifs as a business opportunity independently or in groups for young people as a source of income for the children of the orphanage in supporting economy.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze bilingual milieu toward the student speaking performance The research method uses qualitative research . The data collection techniques are used to obtain the data on questionnaires response and interviews. The instruments in this research used questionnaires. The data analysis Method using descriptive method. This research is conducted by describing the results of observation and diagnostic of the student’s questioner and student’s activities. This research conducted in Modern Islamic Boarding School because it gives special program to more develop English and Arabic, one of primary program to develop language with bilingual milieu. Because bilingual milieu make students habitually in speaking foreign language. and bilingual milieu can improve the student’s performance in speaking English

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Komunikasi efektif menjadi hal penting untuk mencapai tujuan terapi. Komunikasi efektif antar profesi kesehatan dan kepada pasien juga dapat mencegah terjadinya medication error. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat persepsi kebutuhan pendidikan komunikasi bagi mahasiswa kesehatan serta alasan pentingnya pendidikan komunikasi kesehatan.Metode: penelitian ini menggunakan Metode survey yang dilaksanakan secara acak kepada 174 responden yang terdiri dari mahasiswa farmasi, keperawatan, dan kebidanan yang sedang/telah menjalani dinas, praktik kerja lapangan atau magang.Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 99.4% responden memahami pentingnya ilmu komunikasi namun sebanyak 34.7% menyatakan masih kurang mendapatkan ilmu komunikasi dalam perkuliahan. Komunikasi dalam kesehatan harus menjadi kemampuan utama dan harus selalu disertai praktik yang memadai sehingga melatih mahasiswa kesehatan untuk dapat berinteraksi dengan baik kepada pasien atau profesi lain.Kata Kunci: Komunikasi Kesehatan, Komunikasi EfektifPerception of Communication Education Needs in HealthAbstract Background: Effective communication has become an important key in achieving the goal of a therapy. Effective communication, whether it was inter-health proffessions, or between health proffessions and the patients, were also be able to avoid medication errors. Objective: The objective of this study was to review any perceptions of communication education needed for health students, plus the reasons why it was necessary. Methods: Methods used in this study was a randomly conducted survey on 174 respondents consisting of pharmacy, nursing, and midwifery students who were/ had been undergoing any services, field work practices, or internships. Results: The result of this study showed that 99.4% of respondents considered communication education as important, while 34.7% stated their lacking of communication science in class.Conclusion: Health communication should be the main ability and be accompanied with sufficient practice, so that it would train health students to interact well both with patients and other health proffessions. Key Words: Health Communication, Effective Communication

Abstract

Background: The use of traditional medicine in the community is increasing every year. Along with the development of information technology and the urgency of a pandemic, making people realize the need for traditional medicine. The development of information circulating on social media regarding the identification, efficacy, and processing of traditional medicines is not entirely correct. Objective: The high consumption and flow of information in cyberspace, especially by young people, causes the need for an analysis of the level of truth of knowledge related to traditional medicine. This is the aim of this research. Methods: Using a survey method with quantitative descriptive analysis based on online questionnaires via google form to young students (18-24 years old). The survey includes the identification, efficacy and processing of traditional medicines. Results: The average level of knowledge on identification, efficacy, and processing of traditional medicines with different levels of popularity of traditional medicines was <60%. The majority of respondents only know about traditional medicines that are commonly known, while information on the potential of other local natural resources is still not well distributed. Conclusion: The low level of respondents' knowledge of traditional medicine is a challenge for regulators, academics, and practitioners to be able to ground information about ethnopharmacology. In other words, disseminating special knowledge so that it becomes common.

Abstract

Background: Terombongsari Village community is very much using TOGA (Family Medicinal Plants) as therapy independently. The people there tend to prefer TOGA over synthetic treatment, apart from minimal side effects, TOGA is also easy to get in people's homes. The community decides to do self-medication is influenced by several factors, one of which is culture. Culture is defined as a hereditary habit that occurs in the Terombongsari village community. Objective: This study aims to analyze the influence of culture on the use of TOGA in the Terombongsari Village community. Methods: This research uses analytical observational research with cross sectional research design. The sample is adults aged at least 17 years, totaling 92 families who routinely use TOGA. Sample selection by purposive sampling method. Collecting data with a questionnaire sheet, the data were analyzed using the Kendall tau-b test with a 95% confidence level. Results: The results show that 79.3% of the culture of using TOGA in the Terombongsari Village community is positive. The results in the use of TOGA are in the good category as much as 90.2%. The results of the bivariate analysis obtained a p-value of 0.0001, which means Ha is accepted. Conclusion: There is a cultural influence on the use of TOGA in the community of Terombongsari Village.

Abstract

English is an obligatory course for pharmacy students at Sari Mulia University. However, the syllabus utilized in the course has not yet been developed based on the students’ needs. This research aims to identify students’ target and learning needs to develop a syllabus of English for pharmacy. The research method employed in this research is Research & Development (R & D), consisting of the five steps mentioned analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (ADDIE). This article explores the result of the first step which needs analysis. Various studies have developed syllabi for pharmacy students. Nevertheless, this study conducts a blended-learning-based syllabus. The data were collected using a questionnaire to obtain the students’ target and learning needs of English for pharmacy. The participants were 101 students of the pharmacy study program at Sari Mulia University who will take an English course in the upcoming semester. The sample was selected using a simple random technique. The finding indicated that the students’ most expected target in learning English is to improve their confidence in communication. Besides, they also expected to be able to master basic English skills, basic English grammar, and vocabulary related to pharmacy. The learning method that the students preferred was teacher-centered learning, where the teacher explains more than the students’ individual activity; however, they also expected to learn in group or pair activity. The usage of technology for blended learning that is expected by most of the students is watching videos; meanwhile, the least expected is learning via LMS.
