Abstract

Matahari merupakan sumber energi utama bagi kehidupan di Bumi. Perubahan aktifitas Matahari jangka panjang memegang peranan penting dalam perubahan iklim global. Perubahan iklim tersebut menyebabkan naik turunnya suhu di permukaan bumi. Pancaran cahaya Matahari tersebut membawa energi bahkan radiasi. Total radiasi yang diterima dipermukaan bumi dipengaruhi oleh jarak Matahari, intensitas radiasi Matahari, panjang hari. Jarak Matahari selalu berubah sepanjang tahun dikarenakan orbit Bumi mengelilingi Matahari berbentuk elips. Saat Bumi berada pada jarak terdekat dengan Matahari disebut perihelion. Saat Bumi berada pada jarak terjauh dari Matahari disebut aphelion. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh aphelion dan perihelion terhadap suhu di kota Medan menggunakan weather station. Aphelion dan perihelion tidak memiliki dampak yang signifikan terhadap suhu Bumi. Ketika jarak Bumi paling dekat dengan Matahari (perihelion), suhu Bumi justru lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan saat jarak Bumi paling jauh dengan Matahari. Suhu Bumi sedikit lebih tinggi pada bulan Juli dikarenakan bagian utara planet Bumi yang padat akan daratan lebih condong ke arah Matahari, dimana daratan lebih cepat panas dibandingkan dengan lautan. Selain itu suhu di permukaan Bumi juga dipengaruhi oleh pola angin.

Abstract

The study aims to measure the calculation of time using Rubu Al-Mujayyab, in addition to explaining in detail the steps on calculating time of Ashr using Rubu' Al-Mujayyab. The research method used in this research is experimental. The results of this study indicates that Rubu Al-Mujayyab has a fairly high time calculation accuracy, especially in calculating of the Ashr time. It is evident that there is no difference in the results of time calculations using Rubu' Al-Mujayyab by applying the Contemporary Hisab Method and Accurate Times Software. In addition, Rubu Al-Mujayyab can determine the declination of the Sun and there are other functions of the Asr line that can make it easier for users to determine after the beginning of time until the length of the shadow of an object is doubled or the beginning of time.

Abstract

Abstract: The astronomical phenomenon that occurs at a certain time and duration becomes objects for study and research. However, not every location provides the astronomical phenomenon visibility that observers want. To achieve the best data, the best observer position is also needed. During the author’s experience pursuing astronomical phenomena around North Sumatra, only a few places provide good visibility. This is related to the night sky brightness level and light pollution of the location. The night sky brightness is a variable that needed to be included to determine the location used for astronomical observation points so the observers could get the best results. The measurement was taken using a photometer named Sky Quality Meter in several locations around North Sumatra to find the best sky brightness data value reading. From the measurements, the maximum reading results for the East coast of North Sumatra is 19.39 MPSAS, for mid-North Sumatra 20.92 MPSAS, and for the West coast was 21.87 MPSAS. The location with the best night sky brightness quality and the lowest light pollution is the West coast of North Sumatra.Abstrak: Fenomena astronomi yang terjadi pada waktu dan durasi tertentu menjadi salah satu objek kajian dan penelitian. Namun, tidak semua lokasi memberikan keterlihatan fenomena astronomi seperti yang diinginkan pengamat. Untuk mendapatkan data dengan kualitas terbaik, diperlukan pula lokasi pengamat terbaik. Dalam perjalanan penulis mengejar fenomena astronomi di sekitar Sumatera Utara, hanya beberapa tempat saja yang memberikan hasil keterlihatan dengan baik. Hal ini terkait dengan tingkat kecerahan langit malam dan tingkat polusi cahaya di lokasi tersebut. Kecerahan langit malam merupakan salah satu variabel yang perlu dimasukkan dalam penentuan lokasi pengamatan astronomi agar pengamat bisa mendapatkan hasil terbaik. Pengukuran yang dilakukan menggunakan sebuah fotometer yaitu Sky Quality Meter di beberapa lokasi untuk mendapatkan data kecerahan langit malam di sekitar Sumatera Utara. Dari pengukuran yang dilakukan, didapatkan hasil maksimal untuk pesisir timur Sumatera Utara adalah 19,39 MPSAS, pertengahan Sumatera Utara adalah 20,92 MPSAS, dan untuk pesisir Barat adalah 21,87 MPSAS. Maka lokasi dengan kualitas kecerahan langit malam terbaik dan polusi cahaya paling rendah berada sekitar pesisir Barat Sumatera Utara.

Abstract

Ulugh Bek (d. 853 H/1449 AD) was a Muslim scientist who mastered mathematics and astronomy, he also served as director of the Samarkand Observatory. One of his works in astronomy is “Zij Ulugh Bek” also known as “Zij al-Sulthany”. This zij contains data or astronomical tables of celestial bodies which include studies of hisab and calendar, the celestial bodies' area, planets, and the star's position. In its development, this work significantly influences the Islamic science idea and development in Nusantara, where the Islamic science books written by Islamic science national figures refer to and quote this zij a lot. Genealogically, Ulugh Bek’s Zij is one of the main sources of Islamic science studies development in Nusantara, while the astronomical data contained in this book is fairly accurate so it is still suitable to use at present.

Abstract

Keberadaan Teknologi terutama optik dan digital yang dapat digunakan dengan pengaturan serupa dimanapun agar dapat dilaksanakan siapa saja dapat menjadi standar baru untuk penentuan dan tampilan visual awal waktu subuh yang terlihat di lapangan. Kamera Digital yang dapat diambil dengan berkala sehingga dapat menghasilkan deretan gambar sesuai waktu dan menujukan perbedaan langit  saat transisi waktu subuh menjadi salah satu pilihan dan alat pembuktian awal waktu subuh di dunia.Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan awal waktu subuh menurut Kemenag dengan hasil olahan citra menggunakan metode moving average. Hasil olahan citra tersebut berhasil menunjukkan awal perubahan langit pada waktu subuh dengan terlihatnya perubahan nilai pixel yang signifikan. Dari penelitian ini ditemukan hasil awal waktu subuh pada tanggal pengamatan berada pada saat matahari pada dip -17° 07' 12".

Abstract

Sebagai tempat pengamatan astronomi, Observatorium Ilmu Falak Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (OIF UMSU) membutuhkan kualitas langit malam yang bebas dari polusi cahaya. Atas dasar hal tersebut, penelitian ini melakukan analisa pengaruh polusi cahaya pada kualitas langit astronomis di OIF UMSU (3°34’56’’ LU dan 98°43’18’’ BT). Pengamatan kualitas langit malam dilakukan oleh OIF UMSU dari Februari 2018-Maret 2020 dengan Sky Quality Meter (SQM) fotometer pada arah zenit. Dari 588 hari pengamatan, Kami memperoleh rata-rata kecerlangan langit malam dan kecerlangan langit malam maksimum adalah 16,73 mpdbp dan 18,43 mpdbp. Nilai tersebut memberikan batas magnitudo pengamatan mata telanjang (NELM) masing-masing sebesar 2,86 dan 4,32. Untuk meninjau kontribusi cahaya artifisial pada kualitas langit malam di OIF UMSU, kami meninjau emisi cahaya malam hari dari pengamatan satelit Suomi National Polar-Orbiting Partnership (S-NPP) dengan sensor Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) dalam rentang tahun 2018-2020. Emisi cahaya malam hari di Kota Medan menunjukkan peningkatan sebesar 5,51-5,93%/tahun. Hubungan antara kecerlangan langit malam yang menggunakan SQM dan data VIIRS memiliki korelasi lemah dengan R2 = 0.03. Berbagai faktor mempengaruhi lemahnya korelasi tersebut, antara lain nilai kecerlangan langit malam yang dipengaruhi faktor cuaca dan cahaya bulan serta pengamatan kecerlangan langit malam yang hanya berada di satu titik lokasi. Kata kunci: polusi cahaya,kecerlangan langit malam, Sky Quality Meter, VIIRS Day/Night band

Abstract

The beginning of dawn prayer is still a hot debate among Falak practitioners and astronomers in Indonesia. The Adzan marks the start of dawn prayer time were too fast because the sky is still dark and not as mentioned in the Hadith, which is when the sky gets brighter.  This study aims to prove the change from the night sky to the bright sky using a photometer called SQM with a recording device based on Raspberry Pi so that it can be used easily, quickly, lightly, and also safe to be left in a location during the data collection process. The results obtained in this study show that SQM on Raspberry can function properly, the dawn time at SQM readings using Raspberry Pi shows that the Sun is in the dip range of 15-18 degrees below the horizon when the sky changes brighter occurred

Abstract

Hilal observation has already undergone a very significant development of techniques. From daytime observations, up to the uses of various instruments that can support the success of observations. One of the routine activities carried out by the Falak Science Observatory of Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra is daytime hilal observation.  The hilal observation conducted by OIF UMSU uses an infrared filter instrument that can transmit light at infrared wavelengths and filter light at other wavelengths. This research tries to compare the contrast of daylight hilal images taken using filters and not using filters.The results obtained from the experiments carried out resulted in a contrast value using an infrared filter is 129% using Weber contrast analysis, and 4% using Michelson contrast analysis.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah as a tajdid (renewal) movement will continue to improve the system in determining the beginning of hijri month through studies, discussions seminars, and research so that the methods and criteria used are truly following the Qur’an, hadith and the Muslims needs in the world. This research purpose to analyze, explore, and discover the transformation and changes in methods made by Muhammadiyah to determine the new month. The research method in this study is a literature study, by conducting a study and book analysis, journals, Suara Muhammadiyah magazines, and related references that have a close relationship with the studies. Based on the study, it shows that Muhammadiyah has made several transformations in its ijtihad to determine the beginning of the new hijri month, starting from the hisab imkanur rukyat sytem, then replaced with the hisab ijtima’ qabl al-ghurub, and the last one was perfected with the hisab wujudul hilal.

Abstract

The use of robotic telescopes in the practice of observing the Hilal in Indonesia is quite widespread. One type of telescope that is widely used by observers is the iOptron Cube. Telescopes with an alt-azimuth mounting type with GPS features can be used easily by observers who observes Hilal on a portable basis. The effectiveness of using this telescope needs to be studied more deeply because pointing accuracy and alt-azimuth tracking mounting capabilities require good computational ability to obtain the expected results. After being tested with two configurations (narrow and wide field of view) and seeing the various supporting features embedded in this telescope, it can be concluded that the iOptron Cube is quite effective for observing Hilal.
