Abstract

Plants which have a potential effect as antihyperglycemic are papaya leaf and bay leaf. Papaya leaf and bay leaf have a bioactive flavonoid component, which was suggested to have reduction effect on blood glucose. The purpose of this research was to examine the effectiveness of papaya leaf and bay leaf extract, which have been formulated in tablet form to decrease blood glucose level on diabetic Sprague dawley rats induced by alloxan. Twenty male rats were divided into four groups, Each group consists of five rats, namely group I as a positive control (metformin 12.6 mg/200g BW), group II (oral tablet 1.282 mg/200g BW), group III (oral tablet 2.564 mg/200g BW) as extract treatment group, and group IV as negative control. The treatment was carried out for 28 days. The result of this research showed that tablet of papaya leaf and bay leaf extract can be used as antihyperglycemic with the most effective dose was 2.564 mg/200g BB (group III) and the treatment for twelve days.

Abstract

Senyawa bahan alam umumnya memiliki kelarutan yang rendah dan absorpsi yang lemah dalam tubuh. Pengembangan formula mikrogranul mukoadhesif dari ekstrak kayu manis dengan polimer karbopol dan gelatin bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kelarutan dan absorpsi ekstrak kayu manis dalam tubuh. Pada penelitian ini, mikrogranul mukoadhesif diformulasikan menggunakan ekstrak kayu manis dengan tiga formulasi yang berbeda yaitu penggunaan karbopol 934 P 5%: gelatin tipe B 4% (F1),  karbopol 934P 5%: gelatin tipe B 5%   (F2) dan karbopol 934 5%:  gelatin tipe B 6% (F3). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi karbopol 934P 5%: gelatin tipe B 5% (F2)merupakan formulasi mikrogranul mukoadhesif yang menghasilkan kadar asam sinamat paling tinggi setelah uji wash off menggunakan jaringan lambung (6,48%) dan usus tikus (55,21%). Hasil evaluasi fisik terhadap mikrogranul meliputi uji sudut diam, kadar air, laju alir granul, uji wash off, morfologi dan ukuran partikel menunjukkan bahwa mikrogranul mukoadhesif dari F2 menghasilkan kualitas granul paling baik.

Abstract

Gambir mempunyai kemampuan dapat membunuh ataupun menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri. Jahe memiliki kandungan flavonoid dan gingerol yang mempunyai aktivitas antibakteri untuk mulut dan gusi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat sediaan tablet hisap kombinasi katekin gambir dan jahe dengan variasi jenis pengikat PVP dan Gom arab. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa formula terbaik dari setiap jenis pengikat yaitu formula dengan pengikat gom arab 10% dan formula dengan pengikat PVP K-30 7%. Berdasarkan kemudahan dalam proses granulasi dipilih formula dengan konsentrasi PVP K-30 7% sebagai formula terbaik dengan hasil rata-rata keseragaman bobot tablet 2,0406 g, ukuran tebal 58,9 mm, diameter 21,95 mm, kekerasan 23,63 kp, friabilita 0,14% dan waktu hancur 28 menit 62 detik. Hasil pengujian kadar flavonoid total terhadap ekstrak kering jahe sebesar 2,71 % dan sediaan tablet hisap 2,32%.

Abstract

Brocoli and pegagan is a plant that is easy to get and efficacious as antidemensia. The objective of this study was to formulate the plant into an effervescent tablet preparation and to determine the best formula with acid concentration variation. Dry extract of brocoli and pegagan is made by the method of escape then dried with vacuum dryer. The preparation is made by wet granulation method of 3 formula with weight of 4 gram per tablet. The granule test includes moisture content. Result of granule water content ˂5%. Granules are printed in special chambers and conditions and tested for quality. The result of uniform weight test of all formula meets the requirements of Pharmacopoeia Indonesia III; Hardness of tablets 12.06-12.52 kP; Friability of tablets 0.083-0.74%; Test of dissolution time of efervesen tablet ˂ 5 minutes. Preferred test results showed formula III with citric acid concentration: 1: 2 tartaric acid most preferred; Test result of asiatikosida content of pegagan extract is 0.08% and efervesen 0.005% tablet; Test results for vitamin C content of broccoli extract 13.859% and efevesen tablet 16.995%. The results of the physical quality test of effervescent tablets showed that the three formulas met the specified requirements. Stability test results for 8 weeks showed that the effervesen tablet of formula 3 met the requirements of physical quality during storage.

Abstract

Purple leaves contain flavonoids as anti-inflammatory. Aloe vera contains lignin compounds as bioenchancers. Utilization of these two plants in the form of topical emulgel preparations with the hope of being able to reach the systemic circulation. This study aims to formulate purple leaf extract and aloe vera extract in the form of an emulgel. The formula was made in 4 variations with concentrations of aloe vera extract F0 (0%), F1 (2.5%), F2 (3%), F3 (3.5%). Quality parameters include organoleptic, pH, spreadability, viscosity, cycling test, and penetration test using cell diffusion method franz. The results showed that the aloe vera extract emulgel formulation had good physical quality, namely organoleptic viscous green color, characteristic aromatic odor, pH 4.66-5.01, spreadability 5.63-6.03 cm2, viscosity 8100-9100 cPs. The results of the stability cycling test did not show changes in organoleptic and pH of the preparation, while the viscosity of the preparation decreased. Penetration test results based on statistical analysis of purple leaf extract emulgel obtained p> 0.05, which means that the addition of aloe vera extract bioenhancer did not have a significant effect on the value of the cumulative amount and flux.Keywords: emulgel, bioenchancer, penetration, franz diffusion cell
