Abstract

Shellfish flour has a proximate content including moisture content, ash content, fat content, protein content and calcium levels. Shellfish flour containing rich calcium can be added in the manufacture of food products such as Snack Bar to increase the nutritional value. The research includes making snack bar barbecue with several types of sweeteners such as honey, palm sugar and sorbitol. Based on the results of proximate and minerals test, it was found that snack bar preparations were made with ash content (2.25, 2.04, 1.88), total fat content (20,34,20,75,24,20) and kalisum (823,78; 506,21; 814,06) which is higher than the positive control. lower protein and phosphorus content than positive controls, and total carbohydrates that approach positive controls. Abstract

Daun beluntas (Pluchea indica L. Less) dan rimpang jahe merah (Zinngiber officinalle Roscoe) merupakan tanaman yang mempunyai aktivitas sebagai antibakteri penyebab jerawat. Daun beluntas mengandung senyawa anti bakteri yang berasal dari alkaloid, flavonoid bebas jenis flavonol, steroid dan tanin. Ekstrak rimpang jahe merah mengandung flavonoid, minyak atsiri, polifenol, dan saponin. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen yang bertujuan untuk menguji kombinasi ekstrak daun beluntas dan rimpang jahe merah yang efektif sebagai anti jerawat yang diuji terhadap bakteri Propionibacterium acne dan Staphylococcus epidermidis. Daun beluntas dan rimpang jahe merah masing-masing diekstraksi secara maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%. Ekstrak selanjutnya dikombinasi dan diuji terhadap bakteri P. acne dan S. epidermidis dengan perbandingan konsentrasi daun dan beluntas jahe merah 1,5:1,5 ; 0,75:1,5 dan 2,25:1,5. Hasil uji aktivitas antibakteri menunjukkan konsentrasi daun beluntas dan beluntas jahe merah pada perbandingan 2,25% : 1,5% memiliki aktivitas yang lebih baik pada Staphylococcus epidermidis sebesar 7,2 mm dan pada konsentrasi 0,75% : 1,5% efektif terhadap bakteri  bakteri Propionibacterium acne dengan diameter daya hambat sebesar 8,3 mm.

Abstract

Beluntas leaf (Pluchea indica L. Less) and red ginger rhizome (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) is a plan have activity as antibacterial causes acne. Beluntas leaf contain antibacterial compounds from alkaloid, flavonoid free type flavonol, steroid and tannin. Red ginger rhizome extract compounds flavonoid, essential oil, polifenol, and saponin. This study aim to develop gel product extract combination from beluntas extract and red ginger rhizome at concentration 1: 1; 1: 2 and 3:2 formulated in gel, then tested the physical characteristic and gel microbiology tested on P. acne and S. epidermidis. Beluntas leaf and red ginger rhizome extracted by maceration in ethanol 96%, and carbopol 934 as gel base. Physical characteristic test comprise homogeneity, organoleptic, pH, dispersion gel and viscosity. Microbiology tested use method diameter of inhibition zone with Medi-Klin Gel® as positive control. The result show homogeneous gel preparation, with brownish green color, ginger smell, pH 5,83-6,07, spreadability 5,1-5,7 cm, viscosity 690000 cp-1460800 cp. effect of adding extract beluntas leaf and red ginger rhizome to gel preparation, in both single and combination extracts. Antibacterial evaluation showed that formula 3 give the best effectiveness with 5,92 mm zone of inhibition against P. acnes and 4,15 mm against S. epidermidis.

Abstract

Prevalensi kejadian diare dan karies gigi di Indonesia masih cukup tinggi terutama pada anak-anak usia pra sekolah. Diare bisa berujung kepada dehidrasi dengan konsekuensi yang fatal dan berpotensi merenggut nyawa penderita jika terjadi pada anak-anak. Karies pada anak akan menimbulkan rasa sakit yang berdampak pada keengganan anak untuk mengunyah makanan sehingga terjadi malnutrisi dan malposisi gigi tetap. Untuk mencegah kejadian diare dan karies gigi pada anak usia pra sekolah, perlu dilakukan edukasi dengan metode yang tepat, efektif dan mudah  diingat oleh anak usia pra sekolah. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan edukasi  “Edukasi Kebersihan Tangan dan Sikat Gigi Untuk Mencegah Diare dan Karies Pada Anak Usia Pra-Sekolah”  adalah ceramah dipadukan dengan pemutaran video demonstrasi dengan musik dan lagu, serta demostrasi langsung menggunakan bantuan alat peraga. Edukasi disampaikan disesuaikan dengan bahasa dan sikap yang sesuai psikologi anak usia pra sekolah sehingga menarik, tidak membosankan, mudah diingat, dan dapat dipraktekan secara rutin setelah kegiatan berakhir. Dari kegiatan ini didapatkan data terdapat cukup tinggi angka  kekeliruan dalam teknik menggosok gigi dan mencuci tangan sebesar masing-masing 42% dan 73%. Setelah kegiatan edukasi selesai, tingkat kekeliruan teknik menggosok gigi dan mencuci tangan berkurang manjadi masing-masing 96% dan 36%. Data hasil kegiatan juga menginformasikan bahwa 83% responden mendapatkan pengetahun  baru dan 92% responden menginginkan pengulangan kegiatan edukasi secara berkala. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan edukasi dapat mengurangi kekeliruan cara menggosok gigi dan mencuci tangan sehingga diharapkan dapat menurunkan angka karies gigi dan kejadian diare pada anak usia pra sekolah.

Abstract

Hair dye is a cosmetic preparation intended to give the hair a new color or restore the original color. Purple sweet potato tuber skin contains more anthocyanin that can be used in the manufacture of hair dye preparations. The extract was prepared by maceration using 96% ethanol. Hair dyes were made into 4 formulas: Formula 0 was not added with a concentration of copper II sulfate, while Formulas 1, 2, and 3 were added with copper II sulfate concentrations of 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5%. The tests included organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, hair coloring stability tests, including stability tests against washing and sunburn, and preference tests. The results showed that the hair dye gel preparations were homogeneous, had a distinctive odor of hair dye, and had brown (F0), brownish green (F1), and blackish green (F2 and F3) colors. Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian sebelumnya yang telah dilakukan di Kelurahan Pakansari, didapatkan angka kehamilan dan kelahiran anak cukup tinggi. Proses tumbuh kembang anak menjadi periode emas yang tidak boleh terlewatkan dan terpenuhi kebutuhan jasmani dan rohaninya sehingga tercapai kualitas hidup anak yang maksimal. Pencapaian itu tentunya tidak lepas dari peran ibu dan anggota keluarga terdekat dalam memastikan bahwa selama proses perkembangan anak salah satunya adalah peran dalam melakukan pengobatan atau mengambil tindakan serta keputusan yang berkaitan dengan pengobatan saat anak sakit. Swamedikasi membantu masyarakat untuk dapat menangani berbagai penyakit ringan yang mungkin muncul secara cepat, tanpa harus berobat ke dokter serta fasilitas kesehatan rujukan lainnya. Data dari dua RW di Kelurahan Pakansari menunjukkan bahwa jumlah anak rata-rata pada setiap keluarga adalah kurang dari 3 anak dengan penyakit yang sering terjadi berupa Batuk/flu (50%), Demam (21,4%), demam disertai batuk/flu (21,4%) dan diare (7,1%) dengan obat yang paling sering digunakan adalah paracetamol. Masyarakat di Kelurahan Pakansari lebih cenderung mengunjungi dokter atau fasilitas Kesehatan terdekat Ketika anak sakit dibandingkan melakukan pengobatan sendiri dengan kunjungan antara 1-3 kali per tahun. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai Swamedikasi belum memadai. Sehingga tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah memberikan edukasi kepada ibu mengenai swamedikasi yang dapat diterapkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Metode yang digunakan adalah dengan melakukan observasi, memilih objek penelitian, mengumpulkan data dan melakukan penyuluhan. Dengan adanya kegiatan penyuluhan, ibu dengan anak balita menjadi lebih faham mengenai swamedikasi, dan bisa memberikan penanganan pertama yang tepat apabila anak sakit di rumah sebelum mengunjungi fasilitas Kesehatan. Previous community service activities that had been carried out in Pakansari Village, found that pregnancy and child birth rates were quite high. The process of child growth and development becomes a golden period that cannot be missed and their physical and spiritual needs so that the maximum quality of life for children is achieved. This achievement certainly cannot be separated from the role of the mother and closest family members in ensuring that during the child's development process one of them is the role of carrying out treatment or taking actions and decisions related to treatment when a child is sick. Self-medication helps people to be able to deal with various minor ailments that may appear quickly, without having to go to a doctor or other referral health facility.The record data from two RWs in Pakansari Village show that the average number of children in each family is less than 3 children with frequent illnesses such as cough/flu (50%), fever (21.4%), fever accompanied by cough/flu ( 21.4%) and diarrhea (7.1%) with the most frequently used drug being paracetamol. People in Pakansari Village are more likely to visit the nearest doctor or health facility when their child is sick than self-medicating with visits between 1-3 times per year. This shows that the public's knowledge of self-medication is inadequate. So the purpose of this service is to provide education to mothers about self-medication that can be applied in everyday life. The method used is to make observations, choose research objects, collect data and conduct counseling. With counseling activities, mothers with children under five have a better understanding of self-medication, and can provide the right first treatment if their child is sick at home before visiting a health facility.

Abstract

Garlic, red ginger, lemon, and apple cider vinegar are spices in Indonesia that can be useful for increasing the body's resistance and preventing degenerative diseases. Tablet preparations are preferred because they are practical, easy to use, and easy to carry anywhere. The aim of this research is to see the effect of differences in the concentration of internal and external disintegrants, binders, gliders, and lubricants in each formula. Tablets are made with the single active ingredients of garlic, red ginger, apple cider vinegar, and lemon. The wet granulation method was chosen because natural materials have poor flow properties, so by using the wet granulation method, the flow rate, compressibility, and binding capacity of the granules can be improved for the better so that they can be molded into tablet preparations. The research results showed that all tablet formulas met the tablet evaluation requirements. The concentration of external and internal disintegrants, binders, gliders, and anti-adherents does not make a difference in flow time or angle of repose but provides different water content values in formula 3.There is an influence of differences in the concentration of additional ingredients on the quality of the tablets produced. The greater the concentration, the better the weight uniformity, the harder the resulting tablet, and the longer the disintegration time. Tablet fragility on F2 is high than formula 1 and 3, but still meets tablet quality requirements.

Abstract

Excessive exposure to free radicals can cause skin to look dry and thin. Avocado seeds are a part of the fruit that is very rarely used and is even considered waste by society. Avocado seeds are known to contain good antioxidant activity to ward off free radicals. Topical preparations that are widely used to protect the skin from exposure to free radicals, one of which is lotion preparations with natural ingredients that contain antioxidants. This research aims to determine the antioxidant activity of avocado seed extract with different concentrations, formulate avocado seed extract lotion, distribute avocado seed extract lotion preparations, and determine the antioxidant activity of avocado seed extract lotion. The method used in this research is the in vitro 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. Each avocado seed was extracted with ethanol 50 %; 70 %; and 96 %. The best antioxidant results are made into cream preparations in 3 formulas, namely F1 0.01 %; F2 0.05 %; and F3 0.1 %. The best antioxidant test results were obtained from avocado seed extract with ethanol 70 % and an IC50 of 20.68 ppm with very strong antioxidant intensity. The three lotion formulations met the evaluation requirements for topical preparations and provided an antioxidant value of F1 of 128 ppm, F2 of 72 ppm, and F3 of 55 ppm. The conclusion of this research is that the highest antioxidants in avocado seed extract are found in the 70 % ethanol extract and in the formula 3 lotion preparation.
