Abstract

There is a need for Physics Laboratory Management Training in the learning process for Physics MGMP teachers in Ogan Komering Ulu Regency (OKU) because Physics teachers in Ogan Komering Ulu Regency still lack knowledge of Laboratory Management administration and have limited knowledge in organizing, designing and planning administration and activities in the physics laboratory. In its implementation, this activity uses a mentoring model to improve the ability of teachers to design and plan administrative activities in physics laboratory Management. Mentoring model with the presentation, workshop, discussion and simulation methods. The output targets to be achieved in this service activity are: 1) The results of this community service program will be disseminated in the form of scientific articles published in the Community Service journal, namely the Bubungan Tinggi Journal of Lambung Mangkurat University and making banners/posters. 2) Improve Physics teachers' ability in OKU Regency to design, plan, design and use the High School Physics KIT in the Physics Laboratory in the learning process. 3) Produced at least three videos from the community service participants containing Teacher Activities in managing Activities at the Physics Laboratory in their respective schools starting from planning, designing and using tools in carrying out practical activities in the Physics Laboratory, 4) The implementing team and training participants obtained activity certificates.

Abstract

This study aims to identify students' misconceptions regarding static fluid material. It was conducted on 33 students enrolled in the fifth semester of the Physics Education Study Program at FKIP Universitas Sriwijaya during the academic year 2022/2023. Data was collected by giving a four-tier diagnostic test and conducting interviews. The Four-Tier Diagnostic Test consists of four-level multiple-choice questions with answers and reasons, as well as the level of confidence that can be used to identify misconceptions in students. The results of this study indicate that students who have misconceptions about static fluid materials fall into the moderate category, with the highest percentage compared to other conception categories. This demonstrates that misperceptions remain a problem that must be addressed promptly so prospective educators do not bring the incorrect concept. The sub-concepts that identified misconceptions from those with the highest percentage were: Hydrostatic Pressure, Pascal's Law, and Archimedes' Law.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the enhancement of students' science communication skills through the application of guided inquiry learning models in laboratory activities. The method used to describe science communication skills is to use pre-experiment research. The samples used in this study were 60 physics education students in the odd semester 2023/2024 who took basic physics practicum courses. The implementation of the guided inquiry learning model in the four meetings. The results of improving science communication skills were based on three indicators that researchers have limited. The result analysis used non-test instruments like observation sheets. The sub-scientific communication skills are: 1) searching information, 2) scientific writing, and 3) representing information. Based on the observation results, it was found that the application of the guided inquiry learning model can train students' science communication skills in sub-skills of seeking information with a percentage increase of 74%, sub-skills of scientific writing with a rise of 67% and sub-skills of representing information at an increase in percentage of 76%. Each average score on the third and fourth meetings shows that science communication skills are in the very skilled category

Abstract

This study aims to validate physics teaching materials in the form of STEM-based e-modules in the context of local wisdom of South Sumatra. This type of development research uses the Rowntree development model which consists of 3 stages, namely the planning, preparation, and evaluation stages. This research uses tessmer formative evaluation. Then, the research instrument used was a validation sheet with data collection techniques using a Likert scale and a Guttman scale. The validation data was analyzed by determining the average of each assessment. The results showed that STEM-based physics teaching materials in the context of South Sumatra's local wisdom were in the valid and very valid categories, with results for product 1 e-modules for content aspects of 81%, media design 74% and language 76%. Product 2 e-LKPD for content aspects 73%, media design 77% and language 74%. Product 3 e-modules for material aspects 93.5%, design and language 93.25% as well as learning design 88.75%. Thus, it can be concluded that STEM-based physics teaching materials in the context of local wisdom of South Sumatra are valid, the three products have met the standards and criteria that have been set.
