Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian pengembangan bahan ajar fisika Teks Perubahan Konseptual pokok bahasan Gerak Harmonik Sederhana yang valid dan praktis. Penelitian pengembangan bahan ajar ini menggunakan model pengembangan Rowntree yang terdiri dari tiga tahap, yaitu perencanaan, pengembangan, dan evaluasi. Pada tahap evaluasi menggunakan evaluasi formatif Tessmer berupa self evaluation, expert review, one-to-one evaluation, dan small group evaluation. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan lembar validasi ahli dan angket. Hasil analisis data pada tahap expert review diperoleh persentase rata-rata dari validasi ahli sebesar 4,03 (kategori sangat valid), tahap one-to-one evaluation sebesar 84,07% (kategori praktis), dan pada tahap small group evaluation sebesar 81,29% (kategori praktis). Dengan demikian, telah berhasil dikembangkan bahan ajar fisika Teks Perubahan Konseptual pada materi Gerak Harmonik Sederhana yang valid dan praktis. Bahan ajar Teks Perubahan Konseptual ini dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep dan meremidiasi miskonsepsi materi Gerak Harmonik.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to determine the effectiveness of POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) based teaching strategy in improving students’ conceptual understanding on Heat and temperature in SMAN 09 Palembang. The research was conducted on even semester in Academic Year 2015/2016. The research used the quasi experimental method with non-equivalent control group design. The sample comprising of 80 students was selected by using purposive technique sampling. The learning process in the experimental group used POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) based teaching strategy and in the control group used conventional one. The instruments used are the Thermal Concept Evaluation (TCE) consisting of 20 multiple choice questions to measure student’s conceptual understanding and observation sheet to observe the students’ activities during the lesson. Based on the data analysis using Z-test on significance (α) = 0.05, it was found that Zcount= 4.16 and Ztabel= 1.645 showed Zcount > Ztabel. The result was Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. The conclusion is the POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) based teaching strategy was effective to improve learners’ conceptual understanding on Heat and temperature topics.

Abstract

The main objectives of this research are to develop a valid and practical Conceptual Change Texts (CCTs) material related to Newtonian Mechanics and to test the influence of the CCTs in order to increase students’ conceptual understanding and overcome their misconceptions in the relevant topics. The research is divided in to two years comprising of three steps, namely 1) preliminary study, 2) design development, and 3) product testing. This article reports some result of the first year research for kinematics materials. The method for the first and the second steps are descriptive qualitative and development research, respectively. Based on the analysis of the preliminary data it is found the weakness of the basic and standard competencies for Newtonian Mechanics materials in Basic Physics 1 course and it has been changed from 7 to 9 standard competencies. It was also arranged essential material and found 9 common misconceptions in kinematics, namely velocity and acceleration are considered equal, position and velocity are considered equal, velocity is not as vector quantity, ego-centered reference frame, heavier objects fall faster, gravity increase as an object falls, acceleration differs along the trajectory of a projectile motion, an object thrown vertically upward from a linier moving object will land behind this moving object, and a bullet will not hit a target if the target falls downat the same time the bullet is fired. These findings are basis to develop the CCTs. It is developing the CCTs for kinematics comprises of: case, question(s), space to answer and reason, kinds of misconceptions, and explanation of the right concepts. The CCTs in turn can be utilized to improve learners’ conceptual understandings and to remediate their misconceptions toward the truer concepts in the Kinematics topics.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze about conceptual understanding and misconceptions on material Newtonian Gravity of students physics education Sriwijaya University. Data collected by  using test NGCI (Newtonian Gravity Concept Inventory), CRI (Certainty of Response Index), and Interview to discribed types of conceptual understanding students’. Analysis methods  data used Descriptive qualitative technique. Based on the analysis CRI, this research find 28,51 % student understand the concept, 4,68 % understand the concept but not sure , 27,9% misconception, and 25,62 % not understand the concept. The most misconception occurs in sub concept the relations of mass to the gravitational force that is 49,65 %. This research can be used for basic research increase student conceptual understanding

Abstract

The research aimed to develop a valid and practical Conceptual Change Texts (CCT) of Newtonian mechanics materials. The method used was educational research and development. The data were collected using questionnaires and expert validation sheets, as well as questionnaires and interviews with students. The design of the CCT was developed based on the conceptual change theory using the following format: situation, questions, space for answers and reasons, misconception forms, and correct concept explanations. There have been 21 developed units of the CCT distributed in four chapters, i.e. Basic Laws, Applications of the Basic Laws, Work and Energy, and Impulse and Momentum. The results of the data analysis revealed that the CCT had content, conformity with needs, language, presentation, and graphic feasibility levels of 70%, 40%, 80%, 90%, 87%, respectively to mean that the teaching materials were very valid. Based on the practicality test, the teaching materials were very practical, i.e. 87%. In other words, the Newtonian mechanics CCT was easy to read and understand and could be used to change misconceptions. Educators can use these supplement teaching materials in the Basic Physics courses in college and in mechanics topics in a high school.

Abstract

Telah berhasil dikembangkan multimedia interaktif pada materi gerak parabola berbasis permainan tradisional untuk mata pelajaran fisika Sekolah Menengah Atas yang valid dan praktis. Multimedia interaktif dikembangkan melalui 3 tahapan yang diadaptasi dari model pengembangan Rowntree, yaitu : 1) tahap perencanaan; 2) tahap pengembangan; dan 3) tahap evaluasi. Tahap evaluasi pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan evaluasi formatif Tessmer yang terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu : (1) self evaluation; (2) expert review; (3) one-to-one evaluation; dan (4) small group. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan validasi ahli dan angket tanggapan siswa. Hasil penelitian pada tahap expert review menunjukkan bahwa multimedia yang dikembangkan berada pada kategori sangat valid, dengan persentase rerata total validator sebesar 88,6%, sedangkan hasil dari tahap one to one dan small group evaluation menunjukkan bahwa praktikalitas multimedia yang dikembangkan berada pada kategori sangat praktis, dengan persentase rerata 87,2%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa multimedia interaktif yang dikembangkan telah sangat valid dan sangat praktis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis miskonsepsi mahasiswa calon guru fisika pada mata kuliah ipba materi periode orbit bulan mengelilingi bumi. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 64 Mahasiswa calon guru fisika di Universitas Sriwijaya. Sebagai alat pengumpulan data digunakan instrument penelitian tes diagnostik LPCI (Lunar Phases Inventory Concept) berupa soal-soal pilihan ganda sebanyak 20 soal disertai alasan terbuka dan dilengkapi dengan CRI (Certainty of Response Index) dengan skala 0-5. Tes seperti ini juga disebut sebagai tes dengan tiga tingkatan (three tier test).  Diperoleh bahwa skor rata-rata mahasiswa dari hasil tes tersebut cukup baik yaitu 69,27%. Selain itu, diperoleh juga sebanyak 18,75% mahasiswa mengalami miskonsepsi pada materi periode orbit bulan mengelilingi bumi, sebanyak 24,48% mahasiswa tidak paham konsep, dan sebanyak 56,77% mahasiswa memahami konsep.Kata kunci: miskonsepsi, IPBA, materi periode orbit Bulan mengelilingi Bumi, CRI, LPCI, Three Tier Test.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk Kegiatan pengabdian ini diharapkan memberi manfaat antara lain bagi guru melalui kegiatan pelatihan ini diharapkan guru mempunyai kemampuan untuk melakukan penelitian tindakan kelas dan terampil menuliskan hasilnya dalam bentuk karya ilmiah dan bagi siswa dapat meningkatkan kemampuan dalam memahami konsep IPA karena adanya kegiatan perbaikan proses pembelajaran dalam bentuk PTK yang dilakukan oleh guru serta bagi agi Lembaga Pendidikan Tenaga Kependidikan, kegiatan ini merupakan wujud nyata tri darma pergurauan tinggi dan kepedulian lembaga terhadap peningkatan kemampuan profesionalisme guru dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan di daerah. Model dan metode yang digunakan adalah model pendampingan berupa kegiatan pelatihan menggunakan metode presentasi, workshop, diskusi dan simulasi di salah satu sekolah peserta. a.            Selama kegiatan pelatihan berlangsung, 95% guru melibatkan aktivitasnya secara optimal di dalam semua kegiatan baik presentasi, diskusi maupun simulasi. Hal ini menunjukkkan bahwa guru-guru antusias terhadap kegiatan pelatihan ini. Dari hasil perbincangan dengan guru-guru menunjukkan 100% peserta pelatihan merasa sangat puas mengikuti pelatihan dan menginginkan adanya pelatihan lanjutan. Telah dihasilkan 3 draft PTK Guru-guru MGMP Fisika Kabupaten OKU yang sudah siap disusun ke dalam bentuk Karya Ilmiah yang siap diterbitkan di Jurnal atau Prosiding Nasional.

Abstract

PEMAHAMAN KONSEP DAN MISKONSEPSI MAHASISWA CALON GURU PADA HUKUM KEPLERAbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi tingkat pemahaman konsep dan miskonsepsi mahasiswa calon guru pada hukum Kepler. Subjek penelitian adalah 68 mahasiswa peserta mata kuliah Ilmu Pengetahuan Bumi dan Antariksa (IPBA). Sampel dipilih berdasarkan teknik persampelan purposif. Pengumpulan dan analisis data menggunakan mix method, gabungan penelitian kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah two-tear test berupa penyusunan peringkat dan pemberian alasan. Analisis dilakukan terhadap dua lapis data yang dianalisis secara bersamaan berdasarkan tingkat pemahaman konseptual. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingkat pemahaman konsep bervariasi dengan dominasi Paham Sebagian dan Miskonsepsi (33,82%) untuk Hukum II Kepler dan Paham Sebagian (42,65%) untuk Hukum III Kepler. Penelitian mendapatkan 14 bentuk miskonsepsi berkaitan dengan kecepatan, perioda, dan jarak orbit benda langit mengitari bintangnya dan pengaruh massa serta bentuk orbit ter-hadap variabel kecepatan, perioda, dan jarak orbit. Sebelas miskonsepsi belum dilaporkan pada penelitian sebelumnya. Pembelajaran tradisional tidak berhasil dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep karena berorientasi pada penguasaan rumus dan penghafalan fakta. Perlu inovasi pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan penguasaan konsep.Kata kunci: pemahaman konsep, miskonsepsi, hukum Kepler, IPBAAbstractThis study was aimed at investigating the level of understanding of the concepts and misconceptions of teacher students in Kepler's law. The research subjects were 68 students participating in the Earth and Space Sciences (ESS) course. The sample was chosen based on the purposive sampling technique. The collection and analysis of the data used a mixed-method, a combination of quantitative and qualitative research. The instrument used was a two-tear test in the form of ranking and explanation. The analysis was carried out on two layers of data which were then analyzed simultaneously based on an analysis of the level of conceptual understanding. The results show that the level of concept understanding varied with the dominance of Partial Understanding and Misconception (33.82%) for Kepler's Law II and Partial Understanding (42.65%) for Kepler's Law III. The study found 14 forms of misconception related to the velocity, period, and orbital distance of celestial bodies around the star and the effect of mass and orbital shape on variable velocity, period, and orbital distance. Eleven misconceptions have not been reported in previous studies. The failure of conventional learning in improving understanding of concepts is due to the application of traditional approaches that are oriented towards mastering formulas and memorizing facts. Learning innovation is needed to improve the mastery of concepts.

Abstract

The misconception is one of the learning difficulties that occur in students when learning physics, especially the concepts of heat and temperature. One solution to overcome this is by using a textbook based on conceptual change. The purpose of the research is to develop a valid and practical conceptual change textbook based on the local wisdom of Palembang. This study uses the Rowntree research method and is combined with Tessmer's evaluation at the evaluation stage. Data was collected through a walkthrough and questionnaire. The data were analyzed by looking for the mean score obtained and then converted according to the category of expert validation results and the product practicality level. The results showed that the product developed was categorized as very valid in every aspect of content, language, and design. Meanwhile, the results of the one-to-one and small group evaluation stages each showed that it is practical. This shows that the product developed is suitable to be used and by applying appropriate learning methods expected to reduce students' misconceptions of temperature and heat.
