Abstract

Creating and developing PISA model math problems using contexts with situations and conditions in everyday life can expand students' thinking in solving these problems. The aim of the author in conducting this research is to produce a PISA model mathematical problem using a valid Covid-19 context. This study involved two expert reviews, six peers, and three grade IX students of private junior high schools in Palembang as one-to-one research subjects. The research method used is a design research type of development study. Data collection techniques consisted of documentation, walk-throughs, tests, and interviews. The developed questions consist of one item. The results of the study stated that the questions developed were valid in terms of content, construct, and language by experts and colleagues. The question instrument has also been tested on students at the one-to-one stage to see its validity and from the one-to-one stage the questions are declared valid, it can be seen from students who can understand the purpose of the questions, are able to make assumptions and make related settlement plans so that can produce the correct answer.

Abstract

Study aims to determine the practical of Mathematics E-modules on polyhedron using the context of Malay Islam which contains audio visual packaged attractively using the Canva application and makes it easier for students to understand the material. This research uses quantitative descriptive research methods following the formative evaluation stage in one-to-one, small group and field tests. The subjects of this study were 8th grade students at one of junior high school in Palembang which totaled 31 students. This research resulted in (1) E-modules with "Very Practical" criteria in terms of clarity, attractiveness, thoroughness, effectiveness, attractiveness of implementation, user acceptance and durability. The final value of practicality in this study was obtained through instruments in the form of teacher response questionnaires and student response questionnaires as users in field tests and analyzed with quantitative data analysis techniques. The results of the research obtained through the student response questionnaire, the average value of practicality was 85,71% with a very practical category.

Abstract

The study aimed to produce PISA-like mathematics problems with the Islamic ethnomathematics approach that were valid and practical. A development study with formative evaluation was used as the method in this study with 32 9th-grade students as the subjects at one of the junior high schools in Palembang, South Sumatra province, Indonesia. There are five phases: self-evaluation, expert review, one-to-one, small group, and field test. Interviews, questionnaires, and tests were used in this study as the instruments to collect the data. The results showed that three experts from the expert review phase assess that 77.78% agree that six PISA-like mathematics problems meet the validity criteria. For the practicality criteria, three students from the one-to-one step set about 77,78% agree, three students from the small group phase assessed about 61,11% strongly agree, and 26 students from the field test phase considered 61,33% agree. This result is supported by the average test result that was classified as a low category. This showed that the results obtained are not optimal because students still did not understand the problems and had difficulty solving them.

Abstract

This research purposes to result calculus II instructional material using valid, practical, and has potential effect Macromedia Flash and Maple toward student’s learning result. Valid can be described from the validity assessment result based on content (in accordance with calculus II subject) and construct (in accordance with media producing rule. It is practically described from the small group test result. Data collecting was carried out by document analysis and test. It was development research consist of three stages, i.e. analysis, design, and evaluation stage. The subject of the research was 28 second semester students in mathematics education program in STKIP PGRI Lubuklinggau. From the test teaching material potential effect towards the result can be gained 81.2 average welled categories. Finally it can be concluded the effective developed teaching material in mathematic learning. DOI: 10.22342/jpm.4.1.314

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect caused in learning of finite integral when a lecturer give a problem about finding area below a graph of the function with two partitions which the scale on Cartesian coordinate of x-axis different with y-axis. This research type was descriptively qualitative. The subject of this study was 32 undergraduate students majoring in mathematics education that attend integral calculus class at one universities in Palembang. In this study, the 32 students was formed become 6 groups. Instrument in this study was two problems that discussed by them in group. The data was collected by documentation of students’ worksheet, observation, and interview. The result showed the effect on students, that is, they seen try to construct their mathematics knowledge by themselves first, communicate unexpected ideas before, and can think critically on the given problem. The positive effects showed up because the given problem to them related with some concepts.

Abstract

Realistics Mathematics Education (RME) is an instructional approach that emphasizes the use of real-world problems and situations in mathematics teaching. This method is believed to significantly enhance students' mathematical literacy, which is crucial for their academic and everyday problem-solving skills. This systematic literature review aims to investigate the impact of RME on students' mathematical literacy by synthesizing existing research findings. A systematic review design was employed, focusing on studies that explore the relationship between RME and mathematical literacy. The Scopus database was utilized for bibliometric analysis, with the search term "mathematical literacy" restricted to article titles. Data extracted included author names, citation counts, titles, publication years, sources, publishers, and document types. The analysis revealed approximately total of 200 publications related to mathematical literacy were found with a total of 10,817 citations, resulting in an average of 54.1 citations per article, indicating a substantial body of research on this topic. Notable trends included the integration of computer-mediated learning and various pedagogical models. The findings suggest that RME is an effective pedagogical approach that promotes students' mathematical literacy through authentic and contextualized learning experiences. This review highlights the necessity of developing educational materials and teaching strategies that prioritize mathematical literacy, thereby enhancing students' proficiency in mathematics and preparing them for real-world applications.
