Abstract

This action research is carried out to (1) identify whether graphic organizers enrich student’s vocabulary mastery; and (2) to describe the classroom situation when graphic organizers are employed in instructional process of vocabulary. The research is conducted in two cycles from March to May 2016/2017 in the eight years of SMP Muhammadiyah Sekampung, East lampung. The procedure of the research consists of identifying the problem, planning the action, implementing the action, observing the action, and reflecting the result of the research. Qualitative data are collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and research diaries. Quantitative data are collected through tests. To analyze qualitative data, the researcher used constant comparative method. It consists of four steps: (1) comparing incidents applicable to each category; (2) Integrating categories and their properties; (3) delimiting the theory; (4) Writing the theory. Meanwhile, to analyze quantitative data, the researcher employed descriptive statistics.    The result of the research shows that using graphic organizers can enrich students’ vocabulary mastery and classroom situation. The improvement on students’ vocabulary included; a) the students are able to speak English; b) the students are able to understand the meaning of the text as they have a lot of vocabularies. The improvement of the classroom situation; (a) students come on time in the class (b) students are more motivated to join the class (c) Students pay more attention in the instructional process (d) students’ participation in responding the questions are high.

Abstract

In language teaching, media is one of the tools that very useful to support its successful teaching. In teaching pronunciation, the students need to give additional information how to pronounce words. One of the ways is by using Youtube pronunciation videos. By using Youtube pronunciation videos, the students will get more input and knowledge how to pronounce words from the native. The objective of this research is to know whether there is a significant influence of watching Youtube pronunciation videos towards students’ pronunciation ability. There were two variables in this research, the independent variable (X) was Youtube Pronunciation videos and dependent variable (Y) was the students’ pronunciation ability. The research method used was experimental design. The researchers dealt with two classes, they were an experimental class and a control class. In the experimental class, the researchers used Youtube pronunciation videos, whereas in control class the researchers did not use any media. Each class received the same pre-test and post-test. The population of this research was the second year students of MAN 1 Model Bandar Lampung. The samples of this research were two classes consisting of 90 students. In collecting the data, the researchers used reading aloud test as the instrument. After doing the data analysis, it was found that there is a significant influence of using videos towards students’ pronunciation ability. It can be seen from the result of the T test that T-observed was 5.34615, and the result of T-critical was 1.67. It means thatT-observed was higher than T-critical (T-observed> T-critical). Therefore, the hypothesis is accepted. This result means that there is significant influence of watching Youtube pronunciation videos towards students’ pronunciation ability.

Abstract

Stunting merupakan salah satu dari lima masalah kesehatan utama di Indonesia. Salah satu faktor penyebab stunting adalah orang tua yang memberikan makanan tambahan (MPASI) kepada anak balita dengan lebih fokus pada sayur-sayuran daripada protein hewani karena harga protein hewani yang relatif tinggi. Di kota Metro, potensi ikan lele sebagai sumber protein hewani sangat melimpah, sehingga dapat menjadi alternatif dalam pencegahan stunting. Program ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mengembangkan strategi edukasi serta inovasi pangan berbasis potensi lokal yang efektif dalam mencegah stunting pada anak usia dini. Kegiatan ini dilakukan melalui presentasi dan penjelasan langsung mengenai cara pengolahan abon ikan lele. Hasil dari program ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan orang tua tentang stunting dan cara mengolah ikan lele yang kaya akan protein hewani, sehingga mereka dapat lebih efektif mencegah stunting sejak dini.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang ditemui di kalangan ibu-ibu wali murid di TK ABA Purwoasri Metro Utara adalah sebagian besar merupakan ibu-ibu rumah tangga yang kurang memiliki pemahaman tentang stunting dan kewirausahaan. Bahwa sebetulnya, kegiatan kewirausahaan dapat membantu meningkatkan perekonomian keluarga. Kewirausahaan hanya membutuhkan ide dan kreatifitas untuk memulai. Salah satunya dengan menggunakan produk pangan lokal seperti ikan lele, yang bisa dijangkau dengan harga murah dan terjamin kadar gizinya. Ketidaktahuan masyarakat akan manfaat wirausaha menggunakan produk pangan lokal yang bisa digunakan untuk meningkatkan keuangan keluarga, membuat tim pengabdi memberi solusi melalui pelatihan kewirausahaan, marketing mix dan inovasi pangan lokal olahan ikan lele sebagai penguatan gizi pencegah stunting, Mitra kegiatan ini adalah ibu ibu wali murid TK Aisyiyah Purwoasri Metro Utara sebanyak 20 orang, dimana sebagian besar memiliki balita dan tinggal di satu kelurahan. Melalui hasil observasi, banyak sekali ditemukan usaha ikan lele di sekitaran perumahan masyarakat, sehingga bisa dikatakan ikan lele sebagai produk pangan lokal. Selain itu, sebagian besar ibu-ibu adalah ibu rumah tangga. Tujuan diadakannya kegiatan ini adalah untuk pelatihan kewirausahaan melalui pengolahan pangan lokal ikan lele sebagai penguatan gizi pencegah stunting dan juga melatih ilmu pemasaran marketing mix kepada peserta sebagai dasar memulai berwirausaha. Kegiatan ini dilakukan kurang lebih selama 2 bulan, yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Hasil yang diharapkan adalah minat berwirausaha dan pemahaman strategi pemasaran marketing mix serta inovasi pangan lokal olahan ikan lele untuk meningkatkan perekonomian keluarga sekaligus peningkatan gizi pencegah stunting.

Abstract

Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengajarkan masyarakat, terutama anggota Pimpinan Cabang Aisyiyah (PCA) Metro Utara tentang pentingnya mengelola sampah dengan baik. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk penyelenggaraan seminar dan workshop pemanfaatan sampah buangan rumah tangga. Pada kegiatan seminar tersebut, para peserta diajak mengenali jenis-jenis sampah sisa pembuangan rumah tangga, bahaya lingkungan, dan kemudian dilanjutkan dengan workshop pemanfaatan sampah plastik daur ulang botol plastik bekas air mineral yang mudah ditemukan di banyak tempat. Luaran dari program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat dan menghasilkan produk daur ulang yang bernilai ekonomis. Meskipun masih ada orang yang membuang sampah sembarangan, tapi program ini membantu meningkatkan kesadaran dan keterlibatan masyarakat dalam menjaga lingkungan. Penanganan masalah sampah ini dapat dilakukan secara gotong-royong bersama masyarakat melalui komunitas dengan membentuk kelompok pengelola bank sampah yang nantinya juga dapat berdampak positif pada perekonomian masyarakat. Meskipun ada tantangan seperti masalah dana dan partisipasi masyarakat, tapi ada peluang untuk mengembangkan program ini lebih lanjut melalui inovasi dan kemitraan. Program ini merupakan langkah awal yang penting untuk ikut berpartisipasi dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan dengan mengelola sampah secara baik dan memberdayakan ibu-ibu anggota Aisyiyah Metro Utara untuk dapat menambah income keluarga dengan membuat barang-barang kerajinan dari sampah daur ulang.

Abstract

Speaking is considered as an important skill to be accomplished by students. Speaking is related to the pronunciation of words that aim to convey what is to be conveyed both of feelings or ideas. However, there were some problems that make human could not express their ideas. They are such as difficult to pronounce the words, low vocabulary, and misunderstanding. The main purpose of this research is to know whether Three-Step Interview Technique effective towards students’ Speaking Ability at eleventh grade of MA Darul A’mal Metro. The population of the research was the students on the eleventh grade in MA Darul A’mal Metro. The sampling technique was random sampling technique. The researcherschose social and science class as the sampling. Based on the result of data analysis, the mean score of post-test in experimental class was13.26 and the mean score of post-test in control class was 12.00. It showed that the students’ post- test score in experimental class was higher than students’ post-test score in control class. The result can be seen from sig. (2-tailed) of the equal variance assumed in the independent sample test table which the sig. (2-tailed) is 0.043. It is lower than α = 0.05 and it means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It showed that there was significant influence of using three-step interview towards students’ speaking ability at the first semester of the eleventh grade of MA Darul A’mal. Abstract

This study aims to identify the fundamental causes of anxiety and create treatments to reduce it. This survey was done since a lot of pupils don't know what worries are or how to handle them. Using a qualitative technique, the researcher looked at and discussed the data on student anxiety. This study included 26 students from the sixth semester of the English Education Department at Muhammadiyah University of Metro. The researcher employed an interview, an FLCAS questionnaire created by Horwitz in 1986 that had been modified to fit the research focus, and an observation to gather data. According to the survey results, there are five levels of anxiety among students, ranging from low to high. The next step was to choose 10 students from the low anxiety and high anxiety groups for interviews to determine the reasons and treatments for anxiety. According to the study's findings, 15.3% of students had low anxiety, 3.84% of students had very low anxiety, 30.7% of students had moderate anxiety, 34.6% of students had very high anxiety, and 15.3% of students had severe anxiety. After analysing the data of the interviews, the study identified six traits that contributed to students' worry: poor English proficiency, misinterpretation anxiety, low self-esteem, evaluation anxiety, lack of preparation, and excessive test anxiety. Researcher also came up with a number of strategies that may be utilized to help students feel less anxious, including changing one's perspective, being well-prepared, practicing to boost one's confidence and English proficiency, and finally, being brave. Additionally, the researcher detailed the recommendations that other researches could have used. The next researchers should determine from various angles of the speaking anxiety, including the learning setting, the history of the students, and instructor insight.

This study investigates the transformative impact of integrating locally rooted English language learning materials for history education students at FKIP Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro. Drawing from a collaborative approach involving language educators and history experts, the materials incorporate historical narratives and cultural insights to enhance linguistic proficiency and cultural appreciation. Findings reveal significant improvements in students' language skills, including vocabulary acquisition, grammatical accuracy, and language fluency. Moreover, the materials fostered a deeper connection to cultural heritage, instilling cultural pride and sensitivity. This resonates with the broader discourse on the positive correlation between cultural integration and language education outcomes. The collaborative approach aligns with scholarly recommendations for interdisciplinary collaboration, resulting in materials that are both linguistically rigorous and culturally authentic. The validation process underscores the materials' credibility and effectiveness in bridging language learning and cultural immersion. This study contributes to innovative pedagogical practices that unite linguistic competence with cultural understanding, shaping learners equipped to navigate a globalized world while honoring their cultural heritage.

Abstract

In the digital era, technology has become a major tool in learning media, with access to the internet, educational apps, and online resources, the learning process has become more interactive, flexible, and personalized. In thel elxpelrimelntal class, thel avelragel prel-telst scorel was 68.19, and thel avelragel post-telst scorel was 72.33, relsullting in an avelragel diffelrelncel of 9.14. In contrast, thel control class had an avelragel prel-telst scorel of 64.48 and an avelragel post-telst scorel of 67.24, with an avelragel diffelrelncel of 2.76. In conclulsion, this research providels strong elvidelncel that thel wordwall meldiulm is an elffelctivel tool for improving vocabullary mastelry among gradel X nulrsing stuldelnts at SMK Mulhammadiyah 3 Meltro. The Eldulcators are elncoulrageld to considelr intelgrating this tool into thelir telaching practicels to crelatel morel intelractivel, elngaging, and elffelctivel lelarning elxpelrielncels for thelir stuldelnts.
