Abstract

The understanding mathematics ability is important for high school students. However, the reality that happened at SMAN 6 Banda Aceh, students' mathematical understanding still has not reached completeness so that it affects the final score of mathematics subjects. The cause of the problem is due to teacher-centered learning which makes learning meaningless. Therefore, a meaningful learning model is needed so that it can improve students' mathematical understanding ability. One of the meaningful learning models is the Problem Based Learning model. Based on this background, this research aims to:to find out the increase in students' mathematical understanding skills with the Problem Based Learning modelat SMAN 6Banda Aceh. This research is a quasi-experimental design with nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of two classes, namely class XI IPA-2 as the experimental class consisting of 30 students with the PBL model and class XI IPA-1 as the control class consisting of 29 students with the conventional model. The data collection technique is done by test. The research instrument used is a test of mathematical understanding ability. The data analysis technique used independent sample t-test. The results showed that the value of sig. count more than sig. alpha, so it can be concluded that the increase in students' mathematical understanding through the PBL model is better than the mathematical understanding of students who get conventional learning.

Abstract

Abstrak. Matematika merupakan salah satu cabang ilmu pengetahuan yang dipelajari mulai dari SD sampai dengan perguruan tinggi. Amanat kurikulum 2013 menyarankan agar guru harus kreatif baik dalam menyiapkan kegiatan/pengalaman belajar bagi siswa, juga dalam memilih kompetensi dari berbagai mata pelajaran dan mengaturnya agar pembelajaran menjadi lebih bermakna, menarik, dan menyenangkan. Discovery Learning merupakan sebuah model pengajaran yang dirancang dengan tujuan untuk membantu siswa mengembangkan kemampuan berfikir dan mengembangkan kemampuan dalam memecahkan masalah kehidupan sehari-hari. Penggunaan IT dalam pembelajaran juga harus terintegrasi dengan baik. Artinya IT digunakan dalam proses belajar mengajar. Salah satu aplikasi yang dapat digunakan oleh siswa untuk membantu belajar matematika adalah Geogebra. Geogebra adalah software matematika dinamis yang menggabungkan geometri, aljabar, dan kalkulus dapat digunakan sebagai alat bantu dalam pembelajaran matematika. Tujuan ujicoba ini adalah untuk mengetahui pemahaman matematika siswa pada pembelajaran hubungan garis lurus dan sudut dengan penerapan model Discovery Learning berbantuan Geogebra di kelas X Man 1 Banda Aceh. Metode yang digunakan dalam ujicoba ini adalah deskriptif. Data diperoleh dari angket dan hasil tes pemahaman. Berdasarkan hasil ujicoba, proses pembelajaran berlangsung kondusif dan siswa aktif dan bersemangat mengikuti proses pembelajaran. Jika dipandang dari segi ketercapaian tujuan pembelajaran dapat disimpulkan bahwa sudah tercapai ditunjukkan dari nilai siswa adalah 74,2artinya pemahaman siswa tentang materi hubungan garis dan sudut baik. Dari angket yang dibagikan menunjukkan (3,35) respon siswa sangat positif terhadap penggunaan media sirkuit matematika dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

Students are still less involved in the teaching and learning process in class in mathematics. Lack of student involvement resulted in students' problem-solving abilities being weak. Constraints faced by students included difficulties in building plans, errors in operationalizing plans, and wrong conclusions. The purpose of this study was to determine student involvement in terms of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in mathematics. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research approach. The subjects in this study were 12 students of class XII IPA-2 at MAN 4 North Aceh. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques using data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that in general high problem-solving abilities are also accompanied by high involvement, and vice versa. However, students in the high group have not been involved in finding answers, exploring variations and sorting information, and making inductions. Medium group students have not been involved in classifying, exploring variations and expressing in their own words and finding answers, sorting information and making inductions. Meanwhile, students in the low group were only able to clarify, associate and generalize, use previous knowledge, create mathematical objects and provide examples.

Abstract

Solving non-routine math word problems is important to do because it will train students’ and teacher students’ creative, critical, collaborative and communicative thinking. Aims of this study are (1) to conduct developmental research to produce a product, that is, an innovative project-based learning model abbreviated as ANSARI (Auditory, Negotiation, Strategies-somatic, Administer Information, Reflection, and Interaction-communication) which is valid, practical and effective, namely the ANSARI model as a learning medium, (2) to find out its effectiveness after being trained on teacher students, teachers and students in schools as a group in solving non-routine word problems. The samples were 145 students from five high schools with different levels in Sigli City, Aceh Province, Indonesia. Data were analyzed quantitatively with One-way Anova and qualitatively to determine students' perceptions. The findings revealed that the ANSARI model has an influence in increasing teacher students’ and school students’ HOTS in the pre-test and post-test as well as students' perceptions of the learning model.

Abstract

Pendidikan tinggi sebagai bagian dari sistem pendidikan nasional memiliki peranstrategis dalam mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa dan memajukan ilmu pengetahuanserta teknologi dengan memperhatikan dan menerapkan nilai humaniora sertapembudayaan dan pemberdayaan bangsa Indonesia yang berkelanjutan. Oleh sebab itupeningkatan mutu pendidikan di perguruan tinggi merupakan sesuatu yang tidak bisadiabaikan dan mendesak untuk segera dilakukan dengan jalan merubah subsistem yangsesuai dengan prinsip-prinsip tata kelola perguruan tinggi yang baik, GuG (GoodUniversity Governance). Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji pengaruhprofil kepemimpinan PTS yaitu kompetensi individu, gaya kepemimpinan demokratis,lingkungan yang sinergis dan komitmen pimpinan PT terhadap tata kelolapengembangan Perguruan Tinggi Swasta di Aceh. Penelitian ini menggabungkan duametode penelitian yaitu penelitian kualitatif dan penelitian kuantitatif denganmenggunakan teknik wawancara, kuisioner dan survey. Subyek sampel penelitian inipara Rector dan Pembantu Rector Perguruan Tinggi Swasta (PTS) di Provinsi Aceh.Pada Studi awal penelitian ini, subjek sampelnya berjumlah 10 pimpinan, terdiri daridua Universitas, dua Sekolah Tinggi dan satu Akademi. Instrumen yang digunakanadalah borang penilaian Pimpinan Perguruan Tinggi, serta instrument penelitianKinerja Perguruan Tinggi Swasta (PTS) berdasarkan prinsip-prinsip GuG. Semuainstrument penelitian dan borang penilaian melalui tahapan validasi dan reliabilitas.Hasil temuan dalam studi awal ini adalah tingkat keterpakaian borang sekitar 94%, dan pengaruh Profil kepemimpinan PTS terhadap Kinerja PTS bidang akademik sekitar59,3% dan bidang non akademik sekitar 59,1%.

Abstract

Abstrak:Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan komunikasi matematis ditinjau dari keterlibatan siswa pada materi segiempat melalui pendekatan RME. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 6 orang siswa kelas VII-1 SMP IT AL-Azhar Banda Aceh yang dipilih berdasarkan banyaknya indikator keterlibatan yang dipenuhi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu observasi keterlibatan siswa dan tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang telah divalidasi. Data dianalisis dengan melakukan reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis ditinjau dari keterlibatan siswa melalui pendekatan RME sudah baik. Hal ini terlihat dari hasil pencapaian kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang ditinjau dari keterlibatan siswa terhadap 4 orang subjek sudah berada pada katagori baik, artinya subjek telah memperoleh pembelajaran dengan baik karena pada saat pembelajaran subjek terlibat aktif serta memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang baik. Penggunaan pendekatan RME juga membangkitkan semangat siswa agar terlibat dalam pembelajaran serta memperoleh kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang baik. Namun, terdapat dua subjek dengan keterlibatan serta kemampuan komunikasi matematis dalam pembelajaran yang masih rendah. Kata Kunci:                        Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis, Keterlibatan Siswa, Pendekatan RME Abstract:The purpose of this research was to describe students' mathematical communication skills. They were observed based on students’ involvement in studying quadrilateral through the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). This research was a qualitative research. The subjects in this research were 6 students of class VII-1 Islamic Junior High School AL-Azhar Banda Aceh who were selected based on the number of certain indicators that were fulfilled. The data collection techniques used in this research were observation of students’ involvement, and tests of mathematical communication skills. The instruments for data collection had been previously validated. The data were analyzed by doing data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the research results, it could be concluded that students' mathematical communication skills observed based on students’ involvement in the learning quadrilateral through the RME approach were good. This could be seen from the achievement of 4 students who accomplished good chategory in mathematical communication skills. This showed that the subjects had learned well because at the time of learning, the students actively involved and accomplished good mathematical communication skills. Thus, the use of the RME approach also aroused students' enthusiasm to be involved in learning and acquired good mathematical communication skills. Abstract

The low learning outcomes of students on geometry may be due to the unavailability of GeoGebra software assisted learning modules. This research aims to investigate the effectiveness of a GeoGebra software assisted learning module on the theory of flat-faced 3D shapes. This study consists of three phases, which are preliminary research, prototyping phase, and assessment phase. The test subjects are the students of a junior high school in Aceh Selatan. The research instruments cover student activity sheets, formative test sheets, student response questionnaires, and observer response questionnaires. The results show that the learning module satisfies the effectiveness criteria. These results are supported by very good student activities, improvement in students score of formative test, and positive responses of the students and teachers on the learning module.

Abstract

Problem-Based Instruction (PBI) is one of learning model which required student to be more active and create steps in solving problem so that the student should be able to develope their ability in solving mathematics problem and change the students perspective in mathematics positively. This study aims to asses the improvemement of problem solving and students self-concept that are taught by using PBI model and the student who taught by conventional learning through their level in studying. This study used pre-test post-test control group design. The population in this study is the eleventh grade students of SMK Farmasi Cut Meutia Banda Aceh in the school year 2013-2014. Samples were taken two classes XIA as the experimental class and XIB as a control class through purposing sampling technique. The instrument used to obtain research data is a mathematics problem solving ability test. The statistical test used to analyze the increasing problem solving data are ANOVA two path test. The result showed that the improvement problem solving ability that were taught by using PBI is better than students taught with conventional learning. According to students level, improving problem solving ability through PBI model is also better than students taught with conventional learning.

Abstract

This research was aimed to know: (1) the difference of the increasing of understanding mathematical ability who get the learning process through MMP model by using online math game and students who get the learning process conventionally; (2) the difference of the increasing of students motivation who get the learning process through MMP model by using online math game and students who get the learning process conventionally; (3) the interaction between learning model by the level of students on their mathematics increasing of understanding mathematical ability; (4) the interaction between learning model by the students level on the students motivation increasing. This research used quantitative approach by quasi experiment method. The populations were all students of grade VII SMA Arun-LhokseumaweAceh which consisted of five classes. As the sample were taken randomly namely class VII-C as experiment class and class VII-B as controlled class. The research instrument was the ability of mathematics understanding in essay form, motivation questioner of students and observation sheets. Data were analyzed by t-test and Anova. The analysis with result show indicated that (1) the increasing of the students understanding mathematical ability taught through MMP teaching model by using online math game was better than those who were taught conventionally; (2) the increasing of motivation whichs taught through MMP teaching model by using online math game was better than those who were taught conventionally; (3) there was no interaction between learning model by students level on students mathematic of understanding mathematical ability; (4) there was an interaction between learning model by students level on the increasing of the students motivation.

Abstract

Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) is a learning approach that can help teachers relate learning materials with students real-world situations and encourage them to make connections between their knowledge by the application in their life as members of the family and society. Mathematical connection ability includes finding the relationships between mathematics and its topics, mathematics and other subjects, and mathematics and daily life or the real world. The purposes of this study were (1) to know the difference in students mathematical connection ability before and after using CTL, (2) to know the difference in mathematical connection ability between male and female students, and (3) to know the effect of CTL on mathematical connection ability of VIII grade students of Junior High School in terms of gender. This study adopted a factorial design, a modified version of true experimental design. The subjects of the study were 34 students of class VIII-4 of SMP Negeri 3 Banda Aceh as experimental class without control class. The instrument of data collection was mathematical connection test. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The finding of the study shows that (1) there was a difference in students mathematical connection ability before and after using CTL, (2) there was no difference in mathematical connection ability between male and female students, and (3) there was a learning effect of CTL on mathematical connection ability of VIII grade students of Junior High School in terms of gender. The implications of this study demonstrate that learning mathematics with CTL approach was one of the efforts of teachers in teaching and learning activities in particular mathematics courses to improve male and female students' connection ability.
