Abstract

This article explores disaster management, focusing on ethical considerations and fair allocation of relief resources in public health disasters. Disasters require emergency resources to aid and protect affected populations, raising ethical questions about fair allocation of relief funds for speedy recovery. Research in crisis situations presents moral dilemmas, balancing the ethical obligation to protect study participants' interests with the necessity for research. This literature review examines these topics in disaster response and recovery, emphasizing virtues such as caution, courage, justice, stewardship, vigilance, resilience, selfless charity, and communication in catastrophe response. Using the PRISMA method, relevant peer-reviewed articles were selected, highlighting the need for further research in disaster mitigation and management. The paper emphasizes the importance of justice and ethics in crisis situations, underlining the fundamental role of ethics in driving societal changes. Intending to enhance disaster management, this study introduces ethical concepts to stimulate discussions among disaster responders and managers. As an original contribution, this paper provides valuable insights for disaster management students and educators, significantly contributing to understanding the relationship between disaster prevention and management, and offering relevant recommendations to enhance disaster management outcomes.

Abstract

Current learning problems affect the low scientific literacy and creativity of students, so an approach is needed that is able to link science, technology, and society. The era of 21st century education and the development of the 2013 curriculum requires students to be creative and independent, so that they can improve better learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the differences in students' scientific literacy and creativity through the implementation of the STEM approach at SMP Negeri 2 Sigli. The research method used was pre- experimental with one group pretest posttest design. The research instrument consisted of scientific literacy questions, student creativity observation sheets and interview sheets. The results showed that the implementation of the STEM approach could improve students' scientific literacy with an average N-gain 0.74 in the high category. The average difference test results obtained a significance value of 0.000 0.05, meaning that there are differences in scientific literacy after the implementation of the STEM approach. This proves that the STEM approach can improve students' scientific literacy and student creativity as measured by three indicators. The three indicators measured are generating, planning and, producing, so that the scores obtained from the three indicators are included in the high category. The conclusion in this study is that students' scientific literacy and creativity increase through the STEM approach

Abstract

Physics learning is a complex subject that required an extraordinary understanding. Based on the results of interviews at SMAN 4 DKI Jakarta, in Banda Aceh, critical thinking skill tests have not been carried out and student responsibility in following lessons.  This research aims to optimize physics learning through the PjBL-STEM model, in order to improve students' critical thinking skills and lack of sense responsible attitudes. The research design that used in this research was a one group Pretest and Post-Test Design, it was involving 120 students in grade XI. The data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, questionnaires and tests that are prepared based on indicators of critical thinking skills. This research data was analyzed using the average test, N-gain and paired sample t-test. The instruments used critical thinking skills tests and responsibility attitude questionnaires. The research results show that the average N-gain 0,67 is categorized as currently. The results of the responsible attitude questionnaire are in the effective category with an average of 367.2, From the findings of this research it can be concluded that the PjBL-STEM model can optimize physics learning in improving critical thinking skills and attitudes of responsibility.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the needs and expectations for the development of digital student worksheets based on Problem-based Learning (PBL), Socio-scientific Issues (SSI), and Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), which can enhance students' critical thinking skills. This study employed a descriptive method using mixed approachs involving 105 respondents consisting of 73.3% teachers and 26.7% students from 20 provinces in Indonesia. Data were collected through an online questionnaire, in-depth interviews, curriculum analysis, and literature review, then analyzed using triangulation to validate the findings. The results showed that the majority supported the development of flipbook-based digital worksheets, featuring keyword search, links to videos or animations, and interactive quizzes. The integration of PBL enables students to solve real-world problems, such as the impacts of smoking habits or air pollution, while the SSI approach fosters social awareness. The STEM approach provides opportunities for students to conduct experiments and generate creative solutions relevant to everyday life. This study concludes that the development of PBL-SSI-STEM-based worksheets is not only aligned with deep learning but also provides meaningful learning experiences. These worksheets are expected to help students understand abstract concepts, enhance critical thinking skills, and prepare them to face global challenges through innovative technological approaches.
