Abstract

A good strength level of the ground surface is the main concern in an area with rapid housing infrastructure development, such as Baitussalam district-Aceh Besar, Indonesia. A seismic refraction method was applied with three similar profile lines using PASI 16S – 24P equipment and 10 Hz vertical geophones to identify the sub-surface layer. The result was processed using Winsism software and Surfer 8. The results of seismic refraction were deduced and correlated with conventional geotechnical investigation obtained by a previous study. The results of 3 survey lines show that the area has two main layers. The first layer was interpreted as overburden (soil and clayey sand) with a compressional wave velocity (Vp) value of fewer than 1.8 km/s. The second layer produces a high velocity of more than 2 km/s. This second layer is interpreted as highly to moderately weathered rock. The results of seismic refraction surveys of the present study suggest a reasonably good correlation with the standard penetration test (SPT) and rock quality designation (RQD) obtained in the previous investigation. The strength level of the second layer showed  N-SPT of 65 and RQD of at least 50%.

Abstract

One of the household businesses in the field of shrimp paste processing located in Gampong Simpang Lhee, West Langsa District, Langsa City is terasi awaina. From the observations that have been made, the process of printing shrimp paste is still carried out conventionally using hands, so the process of printing shrimp paste takes a long time and produces a paste print that is not uniform in size, therefore the PKM team offers an appropriate technology in the form of a screw press machine as a paste printer. The method of this community service activity is carried out by providingn information and solutions about the products offered, as well asstrengthening the screw press machine design needed by partners, then conducting training on how to operate and maintain the screw press machine , then the latter performs mentoring during and after the program. From the results of the evaluation that has been carried out by the PKM team, it is certain that the business of terasi awaina gampong simpang lhee has been skilled in using screw press machines, it is hoped that with the screw press machine, the production of awaina paste will increase.

Abstract

Gp.

Abstract

This study explores the application of the Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) method for identifying potential slip surfaces in the Desa Seumadam region, a known landslide-prone area. By employing geophysical techniques, the assessment has been made in order to delineate the subsurface characteristics for slip surface identification landslide volume estimation. Based on data interpretation regarding the resistivity model of the subsurface in the study area, the slip surface or weak zone is classified as a clay layer underlain by sand and clayey sand layer. The clay is identified with resistivity value varying from 7 54.5 m and located at depth of 6 to 11.68 m while the sand and clayey sand layer are categorized with resistivity value of 4 1395 m with a thickness of 11.68 m. As for the estimation of landslide volume, the calculation was made using the landslide mass volume potential approach and found that the landslide volume is estimated at around 2.139 m3. It is believed that the study not only reveals the potential slip surface of the study area but also enhances the understanding of landslide mechanisms. The findings reveal valuable insights into the geological factors contributing to landslides, facilitating informed decision-making for landslide risk mitigation and land-use planning.

Abstract

Groundwater is water that sourced from rainwater, river water and others which seeps into the ground and accumulates in a layer called an aquifer. Estimation of the distribution and identification of aquifer geometry is carried out to assist the people of Cot Madhi Village in an effort to design the depth of drilling to obtain water that will be used for their basic and supporting needs. In this measurement, the 1D resistivity geoelectric method is used to determine the resistivity value changes of the rock layer which serves to identify the type of aquifer and the depth of the aquifer for efficient drilling of well activities. The measurement uses Supersting instruments with Wenner-Schlumberger cable configuration. The results showed subsurface resistivity values in the measurement area between 3.4 - 112.1 m. The penetration depth in this measurement is up to 165 meters deep. The resistivity model profile indicates a very economical water layer (aquifer) with a resistivity of 27.3 m located at a depth of 54-84 meters with a thickness of 30 meters. This research found a potential aquifer layer as a source of clean water.

Abstract

Abstract

This community service program aims to map zones that have the potential to have aquifer layers as sources of clean water. The activity was carried out in Lam Apeng Village, Aceh Province. Clean water is a basic human need in life and in this village getting sufficient water sources or aquifers is still a challenge. By using the geophysical method, namely the geoelectric method, which is one of the geophysical methods widely used in Indonesia as an environmentally friendly and inexpensive method, we can identify underground layers that contain water based on the resistivity values obtained from the measurements. Community involvement in data collection can also help with general mapping in the research area. The survey results show a potential aquifer zone at a depth of 6 to 18 meters. These findings can support future well drilling efforts. This activity shows the importance of combining science and local participation to solve everyday problems in rural areas.
