Abstract

Abstract

Background: One of the government’s policies to address nutritional problems is the strengthening of primary health services through the Integrated Health Service Post (Posyandu) program. This study aims to to analyze the strengthening of primary health services in the implementation of child nutrition interventions in the limited-access area of the Seko Health Center.Method: A quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. The study sample consisted of 73 mothers of toddlers, selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire, and bivariate analysis was performed to examine the strengthening of primary health services for child nutrition interventions. The results showed that the variables of tangible evidence, reliability, responsiveness, and empathy collectively influenced the strengthening of nutrition interventions in primary health services, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 45.9%. Conclusion: Strengthening primary health services requires enhancing the role of health cadres by improving training programs to increase their competence and knowledge—particularly for newly recruited cadres.

Abstract

Occupational accidents are unexpected and undesirable events in the workplace that can cause physical or mental injury, property damage, and even death. Occupational accidents are influenced by various factors, both originating from the worker and the work environment. This study aims to identify the factors associated with occupational accidents among workers at PT Maruki International Indonesia. The type of research used is quantitative research with a cross-sectional study design. The population in this study was all workers at PT. Maruki International Indonesia Makassar. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test at a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results showed that there was a relationship between equipment factors and the occurrence of occupational accidents (p = 0.000). Highlighting equipment factors can motivate stakeholders to take targeted safety measures, reducing accidents. Meanwhile, there was no relationship between working age and occupational accidents (p = 0.466), work fatigue with occupational accidents (p = 0.848), work environment with occupational accidents (p = 0.328), or the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) with occupational accidents (p = 0.661). This study concludes that equipment factors are related to the incidence of workplace accidents among workers at PT Maruki International Indonesia Makassar. Therefore, the company is advised to improve supervision and maintenance of work equipment and regularly educate employees about the use of PPE to minimize the risk of workplace accidents. Furthermore, workers are expected to utilize their rest periods effectively to reduce the risk of work fatigue, which can lead to workplace accidents.

Abstract

Bottled Drinking Water (AMDK) is a widely consumed drinking water source because it is practical and considered hygienic. However, various studies have shown that bottled water can be contaminated with microplastics, which can affect human health and the environment. This study aims to determine the abundance and characteristics of microplastics in local brands of bottled drinking water (AMDK) circulating in the Faculty of Public Health, Muslim University of Indonesia (FKM UMI), Makassar City. This study is an observational, descriptive study. A sample examination was conducted through laboratory analysis to identify the presence, number, shape, color, and size of microplastics in local-brand bottled water samples. The results showed that all bottled water samples examined contained microplastic particles with an average abundance of 0.028 particles/mL. The highest abundance was observed in bottled water sample 4, with 9 particles (0.038 particles/mL), while the lowest was observed in bottled water sample 2, with 4 particles (0.018 particles/mL). All identified microplastics were in fiber form. The most dominant microplastic colors were blue and black, while a small portion was transparent. The microplastics found ranged in size from 0.087 mm to 1.212 mm, with the majority measuring less than 1 mm. This study concluded that all local brand bottled water samples examined were contaminated with microplastics, with the dominant characteristics being blue and black fibers and measuring less than 1 mm. These findings highlight the need to monitor bottled water quality and further research the potential impacts of microplastics on public health.

Abstract

Job stress is one of the occupational health problems frequently experienced by healthcare workers, particularly nurses, and can impact performance, service quality, and patient safety. Hospitals should actively manage these factors to foster a supportive environment. Various factors related to work conditions are known to influence nurses' work stress levels. This study aims to determine the factors associated with work stress in nurses in the inpatient ward of Ibnu Sina Hospital (YW-UMI), Makassar. This study is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional study design. The study population was all nurses working in the inpatient ward of Ibnu Sina Hospital (YW-UMI), Makassar. The study sample consisted of 86 people selected using a total sampling technique. Data analysis was performed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results showed that workload (p = 0.002), work fatigue (p = 0.000), physical work environment (p = 0.000), and interpersonal communication (p = 0.000) were significantly associated with work stress among nurses in the inpatient ward of Ibnu Sina Hospital (YW-UMI), Makassar. This study concluded that workload, work fatigue, physical work environment, and interpersonal communication are factors associated with work stress among nurses. Therefore, hospitals need to regularly manage workload, control work fatigue, provide a comfortable work environment, and improve interpersonal communication to reduce the risk of work stress among nurses.
