Abstract

The relationship between student interest and learning achievement, until now has not been widely studied. This study aims to explain the relationship between interest and learning achievement of first semester students, Surabaya Ministry of Health Polytechnic, with a cross sectional design. The research subjects were 400 Semester I students of the Poltekkes Kemenkes Surabaya, 2016/2017 Academic Year, which were selected by simple random sampling technique. Data about student interest is obtained from the results of psychological tests at the time of the selection of new students, while data on student achievement is obtained from the Academic Information system. The collected data were analyzed using the Spearman correlation test. Abstract

Family support and factors affecting it are expected to minimize pulmonary tuberculosis transmission. The study aimed was to analyze the factors that influence family support for the prevention of transmission of pulmonary tuberculosis. This study was a cross-sectional study, with a sample size of 110 pulmonary tuberculosis patients who were treated at the public health center in Surabaya. The instrument used for data collection was a questionnaire. The data analysis used was descriptive analysis and Partial Least Square (PLS). The family support everything is good (71%-86.4%). Most and  almost of the factors receiving support and  supporting factors were in the good category (67.3% and 93.6%).  Composition and structure of social networks support from neighbors and friends (95.5%),  they have a very close relationship  (64.5%). There was a relationship between the factors of recipient support, support providers, composition and structure of social networks on family support in the prevention of pulmonary tuberculosis transmission with p -values of 0.002, 0.000, and 0.000, respectively. Factors of recipient support, support providers, composition and structure of social networks affect family support in the prevention of pulmonary tuberculosis transmission. Nurses must support families in providing support for the prevention of pulmonary tuberculosis transmission .

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension in elderly is triggered by the thickening and stiffness of arterial wall due to ageing processes. One attempt to prevent the complications of hypertension is by change their lifestyle, such as perform a low-salt diet. The implementation of a low-salt diet on elderly should be adjusted with their behavior and habits. TPB is one of theoretical attempt to identify the relationship between elderly’s attitude and their behavior, and to emphasize the importancy of intention as determinant of behavior, focused on cognitif and rational decission making process. This study was aimed to analyze the improvement of low salt diet behavior based on TPB on elderly with hypertension.Method: This research was used descriptive design with observational analytic method. Population were elderly with hypertension recorded at Puskesmas Pucang, Kota Surabaya. Samples were 32 respondents, taken randomly. Data were collected by using questionnaires and direct interview. Data were then analyzed by using Partial Least Square (PLS).Result: The results had showed that intention to implement a low-salt diet was built by attitudes toward behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control (PBC) on elderly with hypertension. A low-salt diet behavior was built by intention to implement a low-salt diet on elderly with hypertension.Discussion: These results can be used as a model to improve low salt diet behavior on elderly with hypertension.

Abstract

Countries in the world including Indonesia are being hit by the health problems of the corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic. The government continues to carry out various handling and prevention efforts, especially in controlling the spread of COVID-19 in the community, including students who carry out learning activities on campus. One of the efforts made is to implement policies regarding the learning process through online learning. Online learning methods cause different perceptions among students and this has an impact on several things including student learning motivation. The study was conducted to analyze the relationship between students' perceptions of online learning methods on student motivation in nursing at the Sutomo campus, Surabaya. The research method was observational analytic with a cross-sectional approach. Online data collection using Google Form, data analysis using Spearman's rho statistical test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between students' perceptions of online learning and students' learning motivation (p = 0.00). It is recommended to increase student learning motivation through improving facilities, infrastructure, facilities and learning methods as well as positive perceptions of online learning. Keywords: online learning; nursing students; perceptions; motivation

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that is currently engulfing the world, including Indonesia, has changed the way people live, including education. The online learning process is one of the efforts made by the government in controlling the spread of Covid 19 among students. This study was conducted to explain students' perceptions of online learning, both aspects of the teaching and learning process, aspects of lecturers and infrastructure. The research sample was students majoring in nursing at the Sutomo Surabaya campus for the 2020/2021 academic year, totaling 510 people. Data was obtained online through Google Form, using a questionnaire, data were analyzed descriptively.   The results showed that students' perceptions of online learning were in a good category 37.8%, 61.4% sufficient, 0.8% less. The results of the research on student perceptions about online learning from the aspect of the teaching and learning process are in good category 22.35%, 76.87% sufficient, 0.78% less. Students' perceptions of online learning from the lecturer's perspective, good category 58.43%, 41.57% enough. Student perceptions of online learning from the aspect of infrastructure, good category 70.20%, 29.02% enough, 0.78% less. It is recommended to students improve their perception of online learning so that learning goals can be achieved to the maximum.

Abstract

Abstract Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by increased levels of sugar in the blood. Knowledge about Diabetes Mellitus is fundamental in efforts to handle diabetes mellitus and can affect people's behavior in their lifestyle and activities. The purpose of this study is to determine public knowledge and factors related to public knowledge about Diabetes Mellitus in the working area of Pucang Sewu health center Surabaya. Method: Analytical descriptive research with a sample of 110 people. Data collection using interview method using questionnaire, descriptive and analytical data analysis using Q-Square test. Results: The results showed 39.1% had less knowledge, 16.4% had good knowledge, and 44.5% had enough knowledge. There was a significant relationship between the level of education and public knowledge about diabetes mellitus and there was no significant relationship between gender, age and occupation with public knowledge about diabetes mellitus. Conclusion: Almost half of the people in the working area of Pucang Sewu health center in Surabaya have less knowledge about Diabetes Mellitus, the level of education is related to public knowledge about diabetes mellitus, while the factors of gender, age and occupation are not related to public knowledge about diabetes mellitus. Recommendation: The need to involve various parties including the community in increasing knowledge about diabetes mellitus by using various methods and paying attention to the age, gender and work of the community.

Abstract

Permasalahan sosial yang banyak terjadi di masyarakat adalah kaum marjinal yang terpinggirkan seperti anak terlantar, anak jalanan, pengemis, dan sebagainya. Salah satu upaya mengatasi masalah kaum marjinal yaitu dengan didirikan lembaga sosial berupa panti asuhan anak. Sejak masa pandemi, anak di Panti Asuhan Misi Nusantara Surakarta jarang mendapat layanan kesehatan dan ada keterbatasan ruang gerak anak-anak. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini untuk membantu panti asuhan dalam memantau pertumbuhan dan perkembangan penghuni dan pengelola Panti Asuhan Misi Nusantara di Surakarta. Metoda pelaksanaan berupa pemeriksaan tumbuh kembang anak, Penyuluhan Hidup Bersih dan Sehat, pemeriksaan Status Gizi Anak, penyuluhan cara menyikat gigi yang benar, pemeriksaan kesehatan pengelola panti asuhan serta pelatihan penanggulangan bencana. Hasil pemeriksaan Kesehatan pada penghuni dan pengelola panti didapatkan sebagian besar (52,6 persen) penghuni panti berjenis kelamin laki-laki, hampir setengahnya berusia rata-rata 21-60 tahun, Sebagian besar (68,4 persen) tekanan darah kurang dari 140/90 mmHg, Sebagian besar (73,1 persen) berstatus gizi normal, hampir seluruhnya (94,4 persen) glukosa darah kurang dari 126 m/dL dan asam urat kurang dari 8 mg/dL. Secara umum keadaan warga panti asuhan dalam keadaan baik Social problems that often occur in society are abandoned children, street children, beggars, disabled people, neglected elderly, poor families, families with social problems, and so on. Children and poor people should have their human rights fulfilled by the State of Indonesia. However, in reality there are many children whose needs are not met, such as parents who are unable to provide for the child's needs or the child does not have parents. One effort to overcome this is to establish social institutions in the form of orphanages. Since the pandemic, children at the Mission Nusantara Surakarta Orphanage rarely receive health services and there is limited space for children to move. Theless than purpose of this community service is to assist the orphanage in monitoring the growth and development of residents and managers of the Mission Nusantara Orphanage in Surakarta. The implementation method is in the form of examinations on child growth and development, Counseling on Clean and Healthy Living, checking on the Nutritional Status of Children, counseling on how to brush their teeth properly, health checks for orphanage managers and training on disaster management. 6 percent) of the residents of the orphanage are male, almost half of them are aged 21-60 years, most (68.4 percent) have blood pressure less than 140/90 mmHg, most (73.1 percent) have normal nutritional status, almost all (94.4 percent) blood glucose less than 126 m/dL and uric acid less than 8 mg/dl. Similar activities are needed to see general body health and must be monitored periodically, so that the residents of the orphanage can find out their health status, especially now that they are still in a pandemic condition Covid-19
