Indonesia is a country whose population has a variety of religious beliefs, including Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Confucianism, and others beliefs. Bangka Regency has 6 religions in accordance with the religions recognized by Indonesia, namely Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Catholicism, Protestantism, and Khong Hu Cu. Bangka is one of the districts known for the diversity of trust and upholds the right to respect differences. This research was designed to identify the phenomena occurring which was related to the availability of religious teachers based on the context of fulfilling students' rights to proper religious education for them and to identify the factors influencing the conditions of the application of religious education in elementary schools (SD), both in private schools and state schools, related to the availability of religious teachers who were of the same religion as students. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative using the perspective of Educational Sociology as the blade of analysis. The results showed that the problems faced in relation to religious subjects faced at primary schools in Bangka were often the subjects taught by teachers who were not competing with them. This then made students with minority religions in the school follow the majority ones' religions or they got the subject from teachers with incapability in religious basis.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze how Islamic discourse is constructed in the film Ayat-ayat Cinta (AAC) 2, analyze the political position of the filmmaker in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and analyze the hyperreality dimension in the film AAC 2 according to Jean Baudrillard's thoughts. Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis was used as a theoretical perspective as well as a method in this paper. This research approach was qualitative with data sources from film text as primary data, as well as journal articles, books, media articles, and film-related social media posts, as secondary data. The results of the analysis revealed that through the roles played by the characters Fahri, Hulya, Sabhina (Aisha), the filmmaker has constructed a moderate Islamic discourse that is so dominant throughout the film. Through several film scenes, the filmmaker also explicitly showed his political alignments with the Palestinian state and builds an image of anti-human values towards the Israeli army. The representation of the religious life of Islamic figures, as well as scenes about Palestinian women (supporters) and Israeli soldiers in this film were included in Jean Baudrillard's hyperreality

Abstract

The One Pesantren One Product (OPOP) program aims to foster self-reliance within the community, including Islamic boarding schools, students, and the public. Its goal is to enable economic and social independence, enhancing skills, production technology, distribution, and marketing through innovative and strategic approaches. The program is designed to support Islamic boarding schools in achieving self-sufficiency and as a catalyst for tourism development in the region. Belitung Regency hosts several longstanding Islamic boarding schools, predating the establishment of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province. Through the OPOP Program, these institutions are envisioned to play a significant role in the region’s tourism development, contributing to economic growth. This research seeks to describe and analyze the effectiveness of the OPOP Program in supporting the economic empowerment of Islamic boarding schools in Belitung Regency. Conducted over a year, the research employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing purposive sampling techniques to select data sources, including Islamic boarding school administrators, teachers, and students. Data collection methods encompass interviews, observations, and documentary studies. The findings reveal that the Islamic boarding school cooperatives function as business units directly subordinate to the schools, akin to other commercial entities. Enhancement efforts are identified in marketing strategies, training initiatives, and internships. Media assistance and engagement with religious community organizations are essential for effective marketing. At the same time, collaboration with governmental and private sector entities is crucial for training and internship programs, ensuring alignment between participants’ business domains and their internship placements.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of social capital among adolescent fishermen in managing natural resources as a survival strategy in the Pongok Islands District, South Bangka Regency. This study uses descriptive qualitative methods through interviews, participant observation, and documentation. This study found that the Pongok Islands District has great potential in the coastal sector, both from marine products and marine tourism. The lives of adolescent fishermen from the Malay and Bugis ethnic groups demonstrate strong social capital in the community, which is reflected in social ties that strengthen internal solidarity and cross-ethnic togetherness in fishing activities; social bridges that bridge fishermen with external parties in marketing catches and economic networks; and social links that connect the community with government institutions to gain access to assistance, training, and production facilities.

Abstract

This research analyzes the phenomenon of low educational participation among teenage fishermen in the Pongok Islands District, South Bangka Regency. As an archipelago with 95% of the population working as fishermen, this area faces significant problems related to teenagers who choose to work as fishermen instead of continuing their Education. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach, involving interviews with 20 teenage fishermen in Pongok Village and 20 teenage fishermen in Celagen Village, family members of teenage fishermen, as well as village equipment in Pongok Village and Celagen Village, and observation and documentation were carried out in Pongok Village and Celagen Village. Max Weber's theory of rationality, especially instrumental rationality, is used as a framework for analysis to understand the logic behind the teenager's decisions. Research results show that the decision of teenagers not to continue their Education is not a form of irrationality, but a rational choice based on socioeconomic considerations. The main factors that influence this decision include, (1) the family's high economic dependence on the fishing sector with fluctuating income, (2) geographical isolation that creates limited access to adequate educational facilities, (3) urgent economic needs that force teenagers to help make a living, and (4) local cultural values that have not entirely placed formal Education as a top priority, through Weber's instrumental rationality theory that emphasizes goal-oriented social actions where individuals make conscious choices based on considerations of efficiency, profit, and the most beneficial consequences for themselves. In this study, instrumental rationality theory can be used to understand how teenage fishermen and their families make decisions related to Education. These considerations are not solely based on moral values or traditions, but on rational calculations of economic benefits and educational costs. The choice of teenage fishermen to drop out of school reflects a form of instrumental rationality influenced by the family's socioeconomic conditions. When Education is considered not to provide short-term benefits compared to the results of going to sea, then some families prefer their children to work to increase household income, reinforced by structural obstacles such as limited high schools, a lack of educators, and difficult access to transportation between islands. Focusing on the rationality of teenagers who drop out of school and choose to work as fishermen, this study highlights not only the lack of access to Education but also the existence of more rational choices, as perceived by those teenagers, leading them to drop out of school and believe that working is more profitable.
