Abstract

Penderita diabetes melitus berisiko mengalami kerusakan pada pembuluh darah akibat komplikasi yang ditimbulkan oleh penyakit tersebut., baik yang besar maupun kecil, serta mengganggu sistem saraf yang dikenal dengan istilah neuropati. Baik diabetes tipe 1 maupun tipe 2 berisiko tinggi mengalami neuropati diabetik, dengan prevalensi mencapai 50% di antara orang dewasa yang menderita kedua jenis diabetes ini. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi apakah gaya hidup penderita diabetes melitus berhubungan dengan terjadinya neuropati diabetik. Pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain cross-sectional digunakan sebagai metode penelitian ini. Sampel diambil melalui teknik purposive sampling yang didasarkan pada kriteria inklusi. Data dikumpulkan melalui penyebaran kuesioner kepada para responden dan juga dengan melakukan wawancara mendalam, yang kemudian diproses dengan membuat matriks. Penelitian ini melibatkan 30 responden yang dijadikan sampel. Data yang telah dikumpulkan kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode univariat dan bivariat, serta dilakukan uji chi square untuk meneliti hubungan yang ada. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan gaya hidup penderita diabetes melitus memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan terjadinya neuropati diabetik. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara gaya hidup penderita diabetes melitus dengan terjadinya neuropati diabetik di RSU Royal Prima Medan pada tahun 2024.

Abstract

Diabetes tipe 2 suatu kondisi metabolisme kronis yang meningkatkan kadar gula darah. Penyakit ini termasuk yang paling umum di seluruh dunia. Dua variabel penting yang mengubah kadar gula darah adalah pola makan dan Aktivitas fisik. Pola makan sehat mencakup makanan tinggi lipid, karbohidrat kompleks, dan protein. Menghindari praktik makan yang buruk, termasuk mengonsumsi banyak daging dan makanan manis, merupakan aspek lain dari pola makan baik. Aktivitas fisik mengacu kepada segala jenis latihan tubuh melibatkan otot dan energi. Aktivitas ini meliputi berbagai bentuk kegiatan fisik, mulai dari olahraga kompetitif hingga aktivitas sehari-hari seperti pekerjaan rumah tangga dan perjalanan. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan desember hingga januari. Metodologi kuantitatif dan metodologi cross-sectional digunakan pada peneliti. Dengan memakai purposive sampling, dipilih 30 responden dari 100 pasien diabetes tipe 2 yang menjadi sampel penelitian. Penurunan kadar gula darah berkorelasi kuat dengan pola makan dan aktivitas fisik, menurut temuan penelitian. Persentase orang dengan gula darah normal lebih tinggi pada mereka yang aktif secara fisik (66,7%) dibandingkan mereka yang melaporkan pola makan yang baik dan bergizi (83,3%). p-value sekitar 0,000<0,005, diperoleh dari analisis statistik Pearson Chi-Square, membuktikan hubungan signifikan secara statistik menunjukkan bahwa Ha tidak diterima, sedangkan H0 diterima.

Abstract

Diabetes melitus (DM) adalah penyakit kronis yang ditandai dengan kadar gula darah tinggi di dalam tubuh akibat produksi atau pemanfaatan insulin yang terganggu. Penderita diabetes sering mengalami gangguan kesehatan akibat kurang optimalnya penerapan Management self-care. Manajemen self-care adalah upaya sadar individu untuk menjaga dan meningkatkan kesehatannya secara mandiri. Kemampuan ini perlu didukung melalui edukasi kesehatan. Edukasi dapat disampaikan secara langsung atau melalui media seperti leaflet, poster, dan booklet. Tujuan: untuk mengetahui pengaruh edukasi kesehatan terhadap management self care pada pasien DM. Metode: penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif, menggunakan desain quasi expriment one group pretest-posttest. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu seluruh penderita diabetes melitus sebanyak 50 populasi. Sampel penelitian diambil dengan teknik sampling jenuh, maka jumlah sampel berjumlah 50 sampel. Pengumpulan data menggunakan jenis data primer, sekunder, dan tersier. Aspek pengukuran menggunakan leafleat. Pengolahan data dilakukan melalui uji statistik Wilcoxon signed rank test. Hasil: Berdasarkan uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank, diperoleh p=value 0,00<α0,05. Kesimpulan: Hipotesis Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima yang artinya ada pengaruh edukasi kesehatan terhadap management self care pada penderita diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Health is a fundamental need for every individual in society. The rise in social status has led to increased demands for quality healthcare services. This situation encourages healthcare providers to continuously improve the quality of services provided. Patients' decisions regarding treatment are not only determined by personal factors but also influenced by external factors such as technological developments and changes in consumer behavior. One technique widely used to increase the visibility of healthcare services is Search Engine Optimization (SEO), which functions to increase website rankings in search engines. With the proper implementation of SEO, hospitals can be more easily found by potential patients seeking healthcare services. Furthermore, satisfied consumers are more likely to provide direct recommendations through word of mouth. This study aims to determine the influence of digital marketing strategies through SEO, word of mouth, and service quality on the decision to seek healthcare. The study used a descriptive analytical method with a cross- sectional design, meaning observations or measurements of variables were conducted at a specific point in time. The analysis results showed a significant influence of SEO on the decision to seek healthcare (p = 0.019), a significant influence of word of mouth on the decision to seek healthcare (p = 0.031), and a significant influence of service quality on the decision to seek healthcare (p = 0.006). Simultaneously, SEO, word of mouth, and service quality were proven to have a significant influence on patients' decisions to choose treatment (p < 0.005).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of marketing strategies and medical device product facilities on increasing the number of patients at Dr. Pirngadi Regional General Hospital, Medan. Competition in the healthcare industry requires hospitals to not only provide quality medical services but also implement effective marketing strategies and provide adequate healthcare facilities to attract and retain patients. This study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational design. The study population included all patients visiting Dr. Pirngadi Regional General Hospital during the last three months, with a total sample of 78 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that marketing strategies and medical device facilities had a positive effect on increasing the number of patients, with medical device facilities having a more dominant influence. This finding emphasizes the importance of synergy between appropriate marketing strategies and improved medical facilities in building patient trust, strengthening loyalty, and increasing hospital competitiveness sustainably amidst increasingly fierce healthcare competition.

Abstract

Job burnout is a common psychological condition experienced by nurses due to high work pressure, heavy workload, and continuous emotional demands. Two important factors believed to influence job burnout are self-efficacy and social support. This study aims to analyze the influence of self-efficacy and social support on the level of job burnout in nurses. This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 100 nurses was taken using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a structured questionnaire that measured the level of self-efficacy, social support, and job burnout. Data analysis was performed using univariate, bivariate (Chi-Square test), and multivariate (logistic regression). The results showed that self-efficacy had a significant effect on job burnout (p = 0.019), while social support showed no significant effect (p = 0.397). Most respondents had high self-efficacy (60%) and experienced moderate to high levels of job burnout. Self-efficacy is a protective factor against job burnout in nurses, while social support did not significantly influence this study. Therefore, improving self-efficacy needs to be a focus of interventions to reduce job burnout levels in hospital settings.

Abstract

Background: Clinical clerkship (co-ass) students in dental hospitals are at high risk of occupational exposure to infectious diseases, yet compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) remains low. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a leaflet-based educational intervention on knowledge, attitudes, practices, and compliance regarding PPE use among clinical dental students. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a one-group pre-test and post-test design was conducted at the Dental and Oral Hospital, Universitas Sumatera Utara, involving 150 clinical clerkship students selected through simple random sampling. A validated questionnaire was used to measure knowledge, attitudes, practices, and compliance before and after the leaflet intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test (α = 0.05). Results: After the intervention, the proportion of respondents with good knowledge increased from 20.0% to 83.3%, good attitudes from 14.7% to 64.7%, good practices from 23.3% to 75.3%, and good compliance from 23.3% to 80.0%. Mean scores increased significantly for all variables: knowledge (2.42±1.23 to 6.33±2.36), attitudes (14.07±2.33 to 20.51±2.45), practices (11.27±1.84 to 17.11±1.77), and compliance (23.13±2.61 to 33.64±2.75). The Wilcoxon test yielded p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) for all variables, indicating significant differences before and after intervention. Conclusion: Leaflet-based education effectively improves knowledge, attitudes, practices, and PPE compliance among clinical dental students. This simple, reusable, and low-cost educational medium can be integrated into clinical orientation programs to strengthen infection prevention behaviors.

Abstract

Diabetes adalah penyakit multifaktor yang insidensinya meningkat dengan pesat di negara berkembang. Diabetes mellitus (DM) tipe 2 adalah jenis diabetes yang paling umum ditemui, dimana penyakit ini erat kaitannya dengan kemajuan industri dan teknologi sehingga mempengaruhi gaya hidup seseorang. Penanggulangan penyakit ini dapat dilakukan dengan menghambat aktivitas α-glukosidase. Beberapa mikroorganisme terutama dari sumber air panas dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai penghasil senyawa inhibitor α-glukosidase. Pada penelitian sebelumnya isolat Bacillus megaterium ITU 9 merupakan isolat yang diisolasi dari sumber air panas. Pada penelitian ini diuji kemampuan isolat Bacillus megaterium ITU 9 sebagai penghasil inhibitor α-glukosidase dengan metode sumur. Daya persen inhibisi supernatan B. megaterium ITU 9 terhadap kerja enzim α-glukosidase adalah sebesar 46,67%, sedangkan daya persen inhibisi acarbose yaitu 70%. Dalam hal ini B. megaterium ITU 9 termofilik memiliki daya inhibisi terhadap enzim α-glukosidase. Kata Kunci: Bakteri Termofilik, Inhibitor, Akarbose, Metode Sumur, Persen Inhibisi Diabetes is a multifactorial disease whose incidence is increasing rapidly in developing countries. Diabetes mellitus (DM) type 2 is the most common type of diabetes, where this disease is closely related to industrial and technological advances, thus affecting a person's lifestyle. This disease can be controlled by inhibiting α-glucosidase activity. Several microorganisms, especially from hot springs, can be used to produce α-glucosidase inhibitor compounds. In previous research, the Bacillus megaterium ITU 9 isolate was an isolate isolated from hot springs. In this study, the ability of the Bacillus megaterium ITU 9 isolate to produce α-glucosidase inhibitors was tested using the well method. The percent inhibition power of B. megaterium ITU 9 supernatant on the action of the α-glucosidase enzyme was 46.67%, while the percent inhibition power of acarbose was 70%. In this case, the thermophilic B. megaterium ITU 9 has inhibitory power against the α-glucosidase enzyme.

Abstract

Abstract Service quality is a key determinant of patient satisfaction and hospital performance. In psychiatric settings, satisfaction depends not only on clinical competence but also on empathy, communication, and responsiveness. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between service quality and patient satisfaction among psychiatric outpatients at Aek Kanopan Regional General Hospital, North Sumatra. This quantitative descriptive–analytic study used a cross-sectional design. A total of 150 outpatients were selected using accidental sampling. Data were collected using a SERVQUAL questionnaire with five dimensions—tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy—rated on a five-point Likert scale. Validity and reliability tests yielded Cronbach’s α = 0.977. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and simple linear regression with a significance level of p < 0.05. The mean perception score (17.05) was lower than the mean expectation score (18.48), producing an average negative GAP of –1.43, indicating unmet patient expectations. The largest gap occurred in reliability (–3.26), followed by tangibility (–2.56), responsiveness (–1.31), and empathy (–0.34), while assurance showed a small positive GAP (+0.11). Correlation tests revealed that responsiveness and empathy were positively and significantly associated with patient satisfaction (r = 0.027 and r = 0.001, respectively; p < 0.05). Overall, psychiatric outpatients at RSUD Aek Kanopan were dissatisfied with most dimensions of service quality. Enhancing reliability, responsiveness, and empathy, while maintaining strong assurance performance, is essential to improving patient satisfaction and the overall quality of mental health services. Abstract

Medication error merupakan salah satu insiden keselamatan pasien yang paling sering terjadi di rumah sakit dan dapat berdampak pada morbiditas, mortalitas, serta mutu pelayanan kesehatan. Di Aulia Hospital Pekanbaru, kejadian medication error masih ditemukan secara berulang, namun faktor penyebabnya belum sepenuhnya diketahui. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali faktor-faktor penyebab medication error berdasarkan perspektif tenaga kesehatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain fenomenologi. Informan terdiri dari 15 orang yang terdiri dari 10 infroman utama dan 5 informan pendukung diantaranya perawat, dokter, apoteker, serta anggota komite keselamatan pasien yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive dan snowball sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi lapangan, dan telaah dokumen laporan insiden keselamatan pasien. Analisis data menggunakan metode Colaizzi melalui proses reduksi data, pengkodean, kategorisasi, dan penarikan tema. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa medication error dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor yang saling berkaitan, yaitu faktor manusia seperti kelelahan, multitasking, dan kurangnya ketelitian; beban kerja tinggi serta keterbatasan sumber daya manusia; sistem distribusi obat yang masih menggunakan One Day Dose; kemiripan obat Look-Alike Sound-Alike; komunikasi antarprofesi yang belum optimal; lingkungan kerja yang kurang mendukung; serta budaya keselamatan pasien yang belum optimal. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa medication error merupakan fenomena multifaktorial dan sistemik yang tidak hanya disebabkan oleh kesalahan individu, tetapi juga oleh kelemahan sistem pelayanan kesehatan.
