Abstract

This descriptive qualitative research deals with the Politeness in Using Pakpaknese in Personal Subject Pronouns in Daily Conversation at Jambu Mbellang. The problem of the study were to find the (1)types of politeness in using Pakpaknese in personal subject pronouns show daily conversation, (2)how to personal subject pronouns show daily conversation and (3)why Pakpak people need to show personal subject pronoun by Pakpaknese. The data were collected by taken 30 people (15 male and 15 female) at Jambu Mbellang District as respondent/participant were collected by using questionnaire, recording the daily conversation of Pakpaknese people,the last data the researcher  used interview and then were transcribed. The data were analyzed by qualitative research based on Brown and Levinson. The result of the research shown that second types of politeness show pakpaknese,how do Pakpak people show personal subject pronouns and why Pakpak people need show personal subject pronouns. The analyzed of  questionnaire that speaker male speak to male the equal language were often used and in the speaker male speak female the younger language were often used. In the speaker of female speak female show younger language to used communication and female speak male the older language were often used. types of politeness in show PSP, on record the answer how Pakpak people show PSP that conversation found four speech function , and used interview found intimacy, politeness, relation, adapting situation into ever conversation in Pakpak why Pakpak people need to show PSP.Keywords : pakpaknese, personal pronouns, politeness,

Abstract

This study aimed to reveal and explain politeness in using simalungunese personal subject pronouns by trying to find out the type mostly used, the way and the reason of people in Galang City using it. This study was qualitatively conducted that taken 35 people of Galang City as respondent/participant. The data was collected by using questionnaire paper. The findings of this study showed that Simalungunese Personal Subject Pronouns people in Galang City mostly used were First Personal Subject Pronouns Ahu/au with 130 times chosen (46%), Second Personal Subject Pronouns Ham/Handian/Nassiam with 159 times chosen  (57%), Third Personal Subject Pronouns Ia/Sidea with 128 times chosen (46%). The ways of people in Galang City using Simalungunese Personal Subject determine by gender, Situation, Age, and Familiarity. The reason of people in Galang city using Simalungunese personal subject pronouns were making no distance/gap, adapting the situation, knowing the rule of communication, learning from family. The findings of this study revealed that four parameters of politeness influenced chosen of pronouns, and the use of Simalungunese Personal Subject pronouns itself influenced the level of politeness. Keywords : Politeness , Simalungunese , Personal Pronouns

Abstract

This study dealt with defense mechanisms in Rambo : The First Blood Film in reference to semiotic. It employed descriptive qualitative research method. This study was aimed to analyze: (1) The kinds of defense mechanisms experienced by Rambo and (2)  why defense mechanism affected the utterance and action of Rambo in reference of semiotic. The data of this study were dialogues statement and figure that contained defense mechanisms. The theories were applied by the writer from Sigmund freud (1993) about defense mechanism and Chandler (2007) about semiotic. Based on the analysis, there were five kinds of defense mechanism used by Rambo, namely Denial (23,8%), Displacement (4,8%). Projection (42,9),  Repression (14,3%), and Reaction Formation (14,3%) where Rambo used projection defense mechanisms the most. Fear that steam from trauma and to avoid conflict were the defense mechanism that happened and used by Rambo. Keywords: Defense mechanisms, semiotic, Rambo: The First Blood

Abstract

The topic of the research is Readers' Reactions to Maman Suherman's Re: The study's goals were to look at the readers' reactions to the plot components in Maman Suherman's Re: and the reasons for their reactions to Maman Suherman's Re: The descriptive qualitative method was used in this study's investigation. The readers' responses to the novel's questionnaire served as the study's data. The information was gathered from readers who had completed the novel in its entirety. The outcome revealed how readers reacted to Maman Suherman's Re: Beach, and Marshall's theory was used to examine the data. Abstract

This study was aimed to analyze the woman images based on the main chracter that is consisted in the novel Terusir and to find how the woman images appeared in the novel Terusir. This research was qualitative descriptive research. The data were taken from the sentences in the novel Terusir. The data collected by documentary technique. This research deals with theory which is conducted by Sugihastuti (2000), where she said woman images is the images of woman roles in social life, divided into physic, psychology and social context. There are beautiful, cosmetic defender nd sexual pleasure in the physic images. There are great sense of belonging, patient, vicious creature, faith defender, generous, obedient and feminist in psychology images. And the last, there are naive creature, construct, angel in the house, devoted to the family, whore is broken, and widow bad in the social images.  And the woman images are described from the main character named Mariah and the other characters.Keywords : Novel, feminist literary criticism, woman images

Abstract

This study was conducted to uncover the aspects related to satire in The Daily Show Twitter account. The data of this research included 40 tweets selected during the 2020 US presidential election. The researcher used descriptive qualitative in analyzing the data. The data in this research were collected by using recorder technique and documentary sheet as the instrument to collect the data. The purpose of this study were (1) to find out the types of satire (2) to describe the realization of satire, and (3) to explain the reason for the use of satire. Based on the result of this study, there were three types of satire with the total of horatian 52,5%, juvenalian 17,5%, and manippean 30%. Besides, there were seven satirical techniques found in the tweets namely irony, paradox, antithesis, enlargement, anticlimax, exaggeration, and parody. Furthermore, satire in the tweets were used to be humorous, criticize politicians, and inform the audience about political topics.
