<![CDATA[This research aims to analyze the imagery in the novel "The Midnight Library" by Matt Haig. The purpose of this study are 1) to Analyze the Types of Imagery by Perrine and Thomas's Theory found in the Novel “The Midnight Library” By Matt Haig In 2020, 2) to Explain the Function of Imagery found in the Novel “The Midnight Library ” By Matt Haig In 2020.In conducting this research, the method used is descriptive qualitative by Hancock (2002: 2). The results of research found by researcher were 476 imagery consisting of 149 visual imagery data, 44 auditory imagery data, 144 kinesthetic imagery data, 36 tactile imagery data, 8 olfactory imagery data, 12 gustatory imagery data and 83 organic imagery data. The imagery function in this novel has also been categorized into 3 functions, namely 1) Freshness 2) Intensity and 3) Evocative power. However, the researcher decided to summarize and explain 35 total imagery that have been found in the novel. The other imagery that are not discussed in depth in this study have been included in the appendix as a complement.From the data shown, visual imagery is the most common imagery found in the midnight library novel followed by the kinesthetic imagery addition, this study also revealed that Evocative Power is the most dominant function in this novel. Evocative power or evociation refers to the ability of a text to arouse a deep emotional reaction or a picture that lives in the mind of the reader. The Midnight Library utilizes this inspiring power effectively to attract readers into the narrative world, and convey important themes such as regret, life choices, and the search for meaning]]>

<![CDATA[This research analyzes the types and effects of acts of racism that occur in the film Green Book. The purpose of this study is (1) to clarify the types of racism that appear in the "Green Book" film. (2) to find the effects of racism felt by the characters in the "Green Book" film. In this study the researcher used a descriptive qualitative method, which is a research method that finds basic answers about racism and types of racism and explains the effects caused by acts of racism on characters in the "Green Book" film using the sociological approach.The results of the study revealed several findings: There are 24 data found by the author, the data is divided into types and effects of racism, there are many acts of racism that occur in the film "Green Book" and have been grouped by type through the theory of Wilson E Charles (2005), these types include 15 data Overt/Individual Racism and 9 data Institutional Racism. The researcher also finds all the effects of each type found in the data, the effects found based on Allport's theory (1991) are Anticoutine with 4 data, Discrimination 18 data and Physical attack 2 data. These effects are obtained from racism that appears in the type in the Green Book film.The reseacher also found all the effects of each type found in the data, the effects found based on Allport's theory (1991) are Anticoutine, Discrimination, Physical attack. From all the data displayed by the researcher, it can be concluded that Overt/Individual Racism occurs more often in the movie "Green Book". And then followed by Institutional Racism. From the 24 data above, it can also be concluded that the effect of Discrimination is an effect that often appears in the movie "Green Book".]]>

<![CDATA[This research analyzes language variations used in buyer and seller transaction interactions in traditional markets in Jambi Province, Merangin Regency, Tabir Ulu District, precisely in Pulau Aro village. The benefits of this research include: (1) to identify the kinds based on user of language variations used in buyer and seller interactions at the traditional market called Pasar Kamis in Pulau Aro Village, Tabir Ulu District, Merangin Regency. Jambi Province. Then the data was analyzed using the Referential method and use formal and informal techniques to present research results. Data sources are brought directly from the location by recording and recording video with accurate data evidence. The collected data was analyzed based on kinds base on user of language variations in traditional markets, namely “Pasar Kamis” Market in Pulau Aro Village. The percentage of the language variations that occur between seller and buyer transactions are analysed in this thesis. The total of collected data is 21 data, which is categorized into 15 data of regional variations,1 data of social variations 5 data of social dialect.]]>

<![CDATA[Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan beberapa ungkapan idiomatis bahasa Melayu Jambi dialek Melayu Bungo dengan menggunakan pendekatan antropolinguistik sebagai sebuah pendekatan awal kajian. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam beberapa tahap, yaitu tahap pengumpulan data, analisis data, dan penyajian hasil analisis data. Metode yang dipilih dalam pengumpulan data adalah metode simak dan cakap dengan beberapa teknik pendukung diantaranya teknik simak bebas libat cakap, teknik catat, teknik pancing, dan teknik rekam. Pada tahap analisis penulis menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan berpijak dari metode analisis kontekstual dalam menjelaskan makna dari nilai budaya yang dimaksud dari ungkapan-ungkapan idiomatis tersebut. Selanjutnya, pada tahap penyajian hasil analisis, penulis memilih menggunakan metode informal. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa dalam ungkapan idiomatis bahasa Melayu Jambi dialek Melayu Bungo mengandung nilai-nilai budaya yang telah lama berkembang dan bertahan di tengah-tengah masyarakat penutur bahasa Melayu Jambi dialek Melayu Bungo. Dalam perspektif antropolinguistik, nilai-nilai budaya tersebut secara prinsip mencerminkan sikap atau pandangan hidup dari masyarakat penutur bahasa Melayu Jambi dialek Melayu Bungo yang dikategorikan baik maupun tidak baik dalam kehidupan masyarakat. Selain itu, ungkapan-ungkapan idiomatis yang digunakan oleh masyarakat Melayu Jambi dialek Melayu Bungo juga mengandung ajaran etika, moral, dan sopan santun.]]>

<![CDATA[This research analyzed about imagery and moral values in three poems of Poems for Palestine by Palestinian Poets. The purposes of this research are to describe the kinds of imagery and the kind of moral values in three poems of “Poems for Palestine by Palestinian Poets”. In this research, the writer used the descriptive qualitative method which was proposed by Strauss and Corbin (1998:11). They state that qualitative research is achieved not by means of quantification or statistical technique to analysis the data. The data is analyzed through some ways: identifying, classifying, analyzing and making conclusion. In this reasearch, the writer used theory of imagery by Perrine (1992) and theory of moral values by Hornby (2010). The result of this research are the writer found about 17 imagery data and followed by 17 data of moral values of the research. All of the data analyzed in those three poems of Poems for Palestine by Palestinian Poets.The 17 data of imagery that the writer found in those three Poems for Palestine by Palestinian Poets, the visual imagery is the dominant imagery in the poems. It is because of the authors really want the world pay attention the condition of the Palestine today. The displacement and destruction of Palestine is seen by many as a deliberate attempt to erase the Palestinian presence and identity from the region. The loss of land and the ongoing displacement of Palestinians are become the first target of Israel and allies. 17 data of moral values that found in poems dominated by 10 data of sympathetic to others. Being sympathetic to others in the poem means feeling and showing understanding and concern for Palestine suffering or misfortune. It involves recognizing and caring for the Palestinian feelings, even if you haven't experienced the same situation]]>

<![CDATA[ANALISIS CITRAAN DALAM PUISI “IBU” KARYA KH. AHMAD MUSTOFA BISRI (GUS MUS) merupakan sebuah penelitian mengenai bagaimana citraan atau gambaran-gambaran angan disematkan oleh seorang penyair di dalam puisi karangannya yaitu puisi yang berjudul “Ibu” karya seorang kiyai yaitu KH. Ahmad Mustofa Bisri atau yang biasa di panggil Gus Mus. Puisi ini diciptakan oleh Gus Mus pada hari Jumat, tanggal 05 Januari 2018 dan dipublikasikan pada hari ibu tahun 2019. Puisi Ibu ini menggambarkan kekaguman akan keagungan Aku kepada seorang ibu. Hampir di setiap larik puisinya, Aku mengungkapkan sosok ibu dengan mengibaratkan alam sebagai ungkapan kekagumannya. Dalam membuat puisi ini pengarang cenderung menggunakan gaya bahasa metafora dengan banyak menggunakan kiasan, imajinasi ataupun citraan yaitu memanfaatkan istilah alam, difungsikan untuk menciptakan efek kekayaan makna, sehingga membuat bahasa puisi menjadi lebih sugestif.Berdasarkan analisis dari puisi tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat beberapa citraan yang disematkan oleh pengarang didalam puisinya. Dari total 13 data citraan yang ditemukan, terdapat 7 data diantaranya adalah citraan penglihatan, 3 data adalah citraan gerak, 1 data adalah citraan peraba, 1 data untuk citraan suhu, dan 1 data lain adalah citraan pencecapan. Citraan penglihatan adalah citraan yang paling dominan digunakan oleh pengarang di dalam puisinya dimana didalam puisi ini pengarang ingin menyampaikan dan mengajak pembaca seakan dapat melihat bahwa betapa beratnya pengorbanan seorang ibu ketika melahirkan anaknya, ini dapat dibuktikan dengan pengarang memilih kata “gua” dan kata “kawah” untuk menggambarkan pengorbanan seorang ibu untuk anaknya dimana “gua” adalah gambaran dari rahim seorang ibu dan “kawah” adalah gambaran beratnya derita yang ditanggung oleh seorang ibu.]]>

<![CDATA[The research analyzes the types of idiomatic expressions and how the classification of the meaning of idiomatic expressions found in Cruella film. The objectives of this research are (1) to find the types of idiomatic expressions, and (2) to explain the classification meaning of idiomatic expressions found in Cruella film. The writer used the descriptive qualitative method because this research aimed to describe the meaning of an idiom from utterances on film spoken by characters. The process of analysis used Lim’s theory (2004) which explains the six types of idiomatic expressions. The classification of meaning from the idiomatic expressions refers to seven types of meaning supported by Leech (1981).The result of the research reveals some findings. There are 83 data the writer collects from utterances spoken by characters in Cruella film, 37 phrasal verbs with percentage of 44.57%, 4 prepositional phrases with 4.81%, 13 idioms with verbs as keywords with 15.66%, 8 idioms with nouns as keywords with 9.63%, 18 idioms with an adjective as keywords with 21.68%, and 3 idiomatic pairs with 3.61%. The writer also often finds repetition of idiomatic expressions in Cruella film, especially phrasal verbs. Moreover, the writer also classify into four from seven types of meaning, conceptual meaning 45.78% with 38 data, connotative meaning 26.50% with 22 data, affective meaning 9.63% with 8 data, and collocative meaning 18% with 15 data. The writer hope that the research can make the readers know more about idioms. By understanding of idiomatic expressions, the writer hopes that readers can improve their language skills like native speakers. The writer suggests future researchers improve the next writer can be able to be deep again in studying idiomatic expressions.]]>

<![CDATA[The writer analyses the words contain by homonymy used in Tanjung Belit dialect using a semantic study. The purpose of this research is to find out the kinds and explain the meaning of homonymy used in Tanjung Belit dialect. This analysis uses a descriptive qualitative research as a method and it has three procedures; they are collecting the data, analysing the data and data presentation. In collecting the data, the writer uses the participant observational method. In technique of collecting the data, the writer uses interview and note taking technique. In analysing of the data, the writer uses Sudaryanto's theory that is distributional and translational technique. The last procedure is data presentation, where the data is presented by using the informal method by Sudaryanto. The result of this analysis is that the writer found fifteen data included in homonymy in the Tanjung Belit dialect. In the fifteen datum that have been analyzed the writer is dominated by complete homonymy]]>

<![CDATA[In this research the writer analyzed the figurative language in Raef Haggag songslyric on the Mercy album that consist to four song there are Trust, Mercy, All About Me,and More Than Me And You. The purpose of the research to find the kind of figurativelanguage and messages in Raef Haggag’s songs. The method of the research uses qualitative method. To analyzing the data the writer use library research. The first step the writer read the Raef Haggag Song’s lyrics several times and understanding the text lyric. The second find out the important data and selected the data that can analysis. The last step write down or making a note about the data. The result of this research thewriter found six kinds of figurative language thereare: Hyperbole, Metaphor, Symbol, Personification, Paradox, and Simile. The datum thatthe writer found from four song lyrics are twenty. In this research the writer also found the messages in the songs lyric by Raef Haggag like struggle, never give up, patients andthankfully.]]>
