Abstract

Posyandu is a community-based integrated health service post that plays an important role in supporting maternal and child welfare. It is managed and organized by the community with technical assistance from health workers, particularly in providing maternal and child health services, family planning, immunization, nutrition monitoring, and health education. This study aims to describe efforts to improve maternal and child welfare through Posyandu in Kebun Beler Subdistrict, Ratu Agung District, Bengkulu City. This research used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Informants consisted of Posyandu cadres, parents, village officials, and community members selected purposively. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that Posyandu activities in Kebun Beler have been implemented routinely and provide direct benefits for mothers and children. The services include toddler weighing, immunization, supplementary feeding, nutrition counseling, maternal health education, and monitoring of child growth and development. The most dominant aspect of child welfare fulfilled through Posyandu is the right to survival and development. However, several obstacles remain, including limited public trust in vaccines and concerns about side effects after immunization. Therefore, strengthening health education, cadre capacity, and community trust is essential to improve the effectiveness of Posyandu services.

Abstract

Lanjut Usia merupakan tahapan perkembangan kehidupan manusia pada usia 60 tahun keatas, yang ditandai dengan berbagai permasalahan dan kerentanan hidup baik aspek kesehatan fisik, mental, sosial, maupun aspek ekonomi. Meskipun demikian lansia binaan LKSLU Payung Besurek Kota Bengkulu, sebagian masih memiliki potensi untuk tetap hidup secara produktif. Ditahun sebelumnya, para lansia ini sudah dilatih pembuatan minuman herbal untuk menjaga kesehatan lansia. Menindaklanjuti kegiatan tersebut, Tim Pengabdian Universitas Bengkulu menyelenggarakan kegiatan Pemberdayaan Lanjut Usia Potensial Melalui Pelatihan Pengkemasan Minuman Herbal di Lembaga Kesejahteraan Sosial Lanjut Usia (LKSLU) Payung Besurek Kota Bengkulu. Kegiatan ini dimulai dengan pemberian informasi tentang pentingnya pengkemasan produk agar terlihat lebih menarik, lebih bersih dan tentu saja lebih sehat. Kegiatan kemudian dilanjutkan dengan praktek langsung pengkemasan produk minuman herbal, produk sayuran dan berbagai produk lansia yang lain. Para lansia beserta pendamping lansia dari LKSLU Payung Besurek terlihat antusias dan berbahagia mengikuti kegiatan pelatihan tersebut. Melalui kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat mendorong para lansia hidup lebih produktif, dan mendorong LKSLU Payung Besurek konsisten melakukan pendampingan para lansia untuk hidup secara sehat, bahagia dan produktif.

Abstract

Industrial development in coastal areas through the construction of a Steam Power Plant (PLTU) has significant economic implications for the sustainability of fishermen's livelihoods. This study aims to analyze the impact of PLTU operations on the socio-economic conditions of fishermen in Teluk Sepang Village, Bengkulu City. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach with a snowball sampling technique, involving 26 small-scale and traditional fishermen directly affected. The results indicate that damage to the coastal ecosystem due to PLTU activities reduces water quality and the availability of fish resources, resulting in decreased catches and income instability. Fishermen are forced to venture farther out to sea, incurring increased operational costs, further putting pressure on household economic conditions. This economic pressure exacerbates fishermen's vulnerability due to limited capital and high dependence on marine resources. Fishermen's adaptation strategy involves diversifying their livelihoods into non-fishing sectors, such as laboring to supplement household income. Changes in social conditions are reflected in the decline in fishermen's solidarity, marked by a weakening of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) and a reduction in collective cooperation due to economic pressures. This study demonstrates that PLTU operations impact the socio-economic structure of fishermen, necessitating sustainable protection and empowerment policies for coastal communities.
