Abstract

This research was conducted in April–May 2021 at three. The purpose of this study was to determine the species composition, density, and size of starfish in South Leato Coastal Waters, Gorontalo. The method used is a random sampling method using a quadratic transect measuring 5 × 5 m, which is placed on coral reefs and Sargassum three times. The results showed that there were three types of starfish in the South Leato Coast, namely Linckia laevigata, Protoreaster nodosus and Culcita novaeguineae. Consecutively higher densities of starfish were species (L. laevigata, P. nodosus and C. novaeguineae). The higher body height of the starfish is species (C. novaeguineae, P. nodosus and L. laevigata), while the higher body diameter is species (P. nodosus, L. laevigata, and C. novaeguineae).

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe study aims to determine the suitability and carrying capacity of mangrove ecotourismin the Tambatan Hati Pelangi area Pentadu Timur Village, Tilamuta District, Boalemo Regency Gorontalo Province. The research was conducted from December 2021 to January 2022 using quadrant method with a size of 10×10 m. The data was analyzed using the Tourism Suitability Index (TSI) analysis matrix and the carrying capacity of the Area (CCA) assessment to determine the maximum number of visitors that can be accommodated. The criteria for tourism suitability observed were mangrove thickness, mangrove density, mangrove species, tides and biota objects. The results showed the TSI on each line transect was in a suitable category with TSI value 2.02-2.27. The area that can be used for tourism is 19,320 m2. The Tambatan Hati Pelangi mangrove area in East Pentadu Village as a whole is included in the appropriate category for mangrove ecotourism with a visitor capacity of 1546 people/day.Keywords: Mangrove ecotourism, suitability, carrying capacity, Pentadu Timur, GorontaloABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesesuaian dan daya dukung ekowisata mangrove di kawasan Tambatan Hati Pelangi Desa Pentadu Timur Kecamatan Tilamuta Kabupaten Boalemo Provinsi Gorontalo. Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to determine the highest number of fish catches based on the size of the hook in the operation of hand-line fishing gear and to determine the effect of differences in the size of the hook on the catch of hand-line fishermen in Molamahu Village, Paguat District, Pohuwato Regency. This research was carried out from June 2019 to January 2020. The method used in this research was experimental fishing. Observations were carried out 15 times, each trip was divided into 3 boats, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), data analysis using the data normality test (Liliefors test), homogeneity test using the barlet test, hypothesis testing (one way anova) and the BNT follow-up test ( Smallest Real Difference). The results of the research show that all types of fishermen's catches amounted to 9 families of coral fish, where fishing hook No. 17 obtained more catches (as many as 432 heads) compared to hook No. 10, No. 14 and No. 20. The results of the BNT test analysis show that, the comparison of the number of catches between hook No. 17 and No. 20; between no. 17 and no 14; between No. 17 and No. 10; between No. 20 and No. 14; between No. 20 and No. 10; and between no.14 and No. 10 are all at obvious different.

Abstract

Abstract

The training on seaweed-based soba candy innovation in Keramat Village, Gorontalo Regency, aims to empower the local community by enhancing their knowledge and skills in processing seaweed into high-value food products. Designed to address the abundant local seaweed resources, the program sought to create innovative candy products that are not only nutritious but also economically promising. This activity resulted in an 88% increase in participants' knowledge and a 71% improvement in technical skills, demonstrating the training's effectiveness. Participants included members of the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) actors, who engaged in interactive sessions combining lectures, discussions, and hands-on practice. The seaweed-based soba candy innovation has significant potential to contribute to community economic empowerment by utilizing simple yet innovative processing methods. However, challenges remain in creating attractive packaging and adopting digital marketing strategies to expand market reach. Overall, this training supports the development of sustainable local industries and promotes the introduction of healthy snacks made from natural ingredients.
