Abstract

The rule of goverment for converting kerosene to gas made problem in rural to get gas. At this study have conducted modeling, manufacturing and testing a biomass gasification stove. The stove have 74.5 cm total height, 42 cm burner height, 16.5 cm diameter dan ash hopper . The results of eksperiment using rubber wood and cob as fuel showed stove could produce flame 30 until 40 minute with 4 until 6 for one bed fuel, the time for boiling water are 4 until 6 minute.

Abstract

Coconut shell is exploited to produce charcoal to be sold now. but it has potency for producing energy. At this study coconut shell was exploited to produce gas fuel with gasification process using updraft gasifier. Gasification process was done at condition different air flow rate i.e 70,2 lpm, 91,4 lpm dan 122,4 lpm. The results of experiment showed gasification could produces combustible gas (CO, CH4,H2) continuously during 3 hours operation for every condition of gasification air flow rate. Increasing the air flow rate will increase temperature inside reactor, gas composition, gas flow rate, gasification efficiency and flame temperature of combustion gas producer. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia: Pemanfaatan tempurung kelapa baru sebatas untuk menghasilkan arang aktif untuk dijual, pada hal tempurung kelapa mempunyai potensi untuk menghasilkan energi. Pada penelitian ini tempurung kelapa dimanfaatkan untuk menghasilkan bahan bakar gas melalui proses gasifikasi menggunakan updraft gasifier. Proses gasifikasi dilakukan pada laju aliran udara pembakaran 70,2 lpm, 91,4 lpm dan 122,4 lpm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan proses gasifikasi dapat menghasilkan gas mampu bakar (CO,CH4,H2) secara kontinnyu selama lebih kurang 3 jam operasi. Peningkatan laju aliran udara akan meningkatkan suhu dalam reaktor, komposisi gas, laju aliran gas, efisiensi gasifikasi dan temperatur nyala gas pembakaran yang dihasilkan Kata kunci: Updraft gasifeir, gasifikasi, tempurung kelapa.

Abstract

Gasification process at updraft gasifier produces greater amount of tar than other type of gasifier. To reduce tar at updraft gasifier, the pirolysis gas will be re-circulated to combustion zone and to exhaust gas from reduction zone. Recirculation of pirolysis gas to combustion zone can be carried out by using ejector. Ejector is an equipment used to inject the secondary fluid flow by the movement of momentum and energy from high speed primary flow (jet). The research conducted with isothermal 3D simulation using CFD and experimental investigation of recirculation flow using ejector at updraft gasifier. Ejector velocity for simulation and experimentation is constant at 0.6 m/s. Ejector’s nozzle exit position (NXP) direction will be varied. The goal of this research is to obtain information of optimal nozzle exit position for producing maximum velocity of gas recirculation. The result of simulation and experiment shows that the change of nozzle exit position direction to – x axis from zero point, it will give maximum velocity of gas recirculation flow with the optimum position of nozzle exit position at the range of -3 to -4 cm from zero point.

Abstract

The utilization of new and renewable energy is of paramount importance considering the limited reserves of fossil fuels and the negative impacts resulting from their usage. Biomass presents an intriguing option as it can be renewed and is abundantly available in Indonesia. Gasification technology stands as one of the thermochemical methods to convert biomass into gas fuel. This process demonstrates high efficiency and generates low pollution. However, the knowledge of this technology remains confined to certain scientists and practitioners, necessitating the need for socialization and information dissemination, particularly in rural areas. Consequently, demonstrations and training sessions were conducted for the community in Kerinjing Village, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra. The demonstrations involved students who were trained to operate gasification equipment, with approximately 30 participants attending the training sessions. Additionally, presentations and discussions were held to elucidate the potential of biomass as gas fuel, the main components of gasification apparatus, and the process of converting biomass into gas fuel. The results of the demonstrations revealed a high level of enthusiasm among the residents of Kerinjing Village toward gasification technology. The residents displayed an easy grasp of the straightforward equipment operation and their ability to produce such equipment themselves due to its accessibility and ease of fabrication. The use of simple language in delivering information facilitated the comprehension of gasification technology among the community. In conclusion, gasification technology offers a simple yet promising approach to serve as an alternative energy solution in rural areas. Continuous demonstrations and socialization efforts are imperative to promote wider implementation of this technology, thereby advancing the adoption of new and renewable energy sources. Consequently, it is hoped that this initiative will address the constraints posed by limited fossil fuel reserves and contribute to sustainable development

Abstract

Sistem distribusi air bersih yang ada di Kecamatan Muara Enim pada saat ini belum menjangkau seluruh warga di kecamatan ini. Pelayanan PDAM Lematang Enim baru melayani sekitar 50% dari jumlah penduduk Kecamatan Muara Enim. Hal ini disebabkan oleh masih lambatnya pengembangan sistem distribusi air bersih di kecamatan ini dan rendahnya jam operasi layanan yang mengakibatkan minimnya waktu distribusi air bersih ke pelanggan yang rata-rata hanya mencapai ± 10 jam/hari. Pada Kegiatan Pengabdian pada Masyarakat yang akan dilaksanakan ini berfokus pada lokasi Kelurahan Muara Enim yang sebagian besar warganya belum mendapatkan layanan PDAM yang mencukupi dan terpaksa mengandalkan air sumur atau air sungai. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat membantu masyarakat sasaran untuk memenuhi kebutuhan air minum layak konsumsi yang dapat juga dijadikan peluang untuk wirausaha air minum isi ulang. Program ini diawali dengan penyuluhan tentang air minum layak konsumsi sesuai standar kesehatan, dilanjutkan dengan perakitan alat pengolah air menggunakan teknologi membran ultrafiltrasi. Setelah itu, mitra sasaran dilatih mengoperasikan alat agar dapat memanfaatkannya secara optimal. Kegiatan berikutnya adalah sosialisasi kepada masyarakat agar mereka memahami fungsi alat tersebut dan merasakan manfaatnya bagi kesehatan. Program ditutup dengan pembagian kuesioner kepada peserta sosialisasi untuk memperoleh umpan balik mengenai efektivitas kegiatan. Dari data isian kuesioner yang disebarkan, 80% masyarakat Kelurahan Muara Enim menilai bahwa kegiatan ini sangat bermanfaat, hal ini membuktikan bahwa masyarakat sasaran menilai kegiatan ini sangat bermanfaat.

Abstract

The dedication to this activity was prompted by the lack of awareness about the potential use of coconut shells as gas fuel, like LPG, in Tebing Gerinting Selatan Village, as well as in Ogan Ilir Villages in general. The main aim of this activity is to educate the community in Tebing Gerinting Selatan on the technology of converting coconut shells into gas fuel using gasification technology. The educational process includes presentations, demonstrations, and discussions. During the demonstration phase, participants were shown how to operate coconut shell gasification equipment to produce gas fuel. The results of this activity were very encouraging as many participants showed a keen interest in the process and equipment used during the discussion phase. Based on the success of this activity, it can be concluded that there is a high level of public interest in coconut shell gasification technology, and there is a strong desire to apply this equipment to the kerupuk kemplang grilling process in the village.

Abstract

The reduction in fossil energy requires alternative energy that can be renewed. Wood charcoal is one of the alternative sources that can be renewed. Wood charcoal is used to produce energy through direct combustion until now, such as in Pulau Semambu Village, Ogan Ilir, and South Sumatra. The Gasification Method is one technique for converting wood charcoal into gas fuel. This method is not widely known by the community, especially the Pulau Semambu Village, Ogan Ilir people. This Community Service aims to socialize wood charcoal gasification to produce gas fuel in the Pulau Semambu Village Community, South Sumatra. Community service is carried out through Presentations, Q&As, discussions, and demonstrations. The demonstration results showed that the Pulau Semambu Community was very interested in the material provided and the demonstration of making gas fuel from wood charcoal with a gasification process. The demonstration shows that 3 kg of fuel can produce gas for about 50 minutes. The gas fuel formed is identified by the combustion of the resulting gas, which makes the flame.
