Abstract

The topics and sub-topics of teaching materials in “Proposal and Tata Tulis Laporan” courses in Building Design Engineering Study Program have not been developed based on the students’ need analysis, whereas teaching materials are essential components in a learning process. For this reason, this study was conducted to describe learning outcomes which are relevant to the courses and to map the students’ needs of the topics and sub-topics of “Proposal and Tata Laporan” courses. In this study, a descriptive method was used with the 2016 Curriculum document as a data source and 32 students as participants. The results of this study are six learning outcomes which are relevant to the “Proposal dan Tata Tulis Laporan” courses and seven topics needed by the students; Proposal, Penulisan Laporan Ilmiah, konvensi Naskah, Plagiarisme dan Pengutipan, Peristilahan ilmiah, Kalimat Ilmiah, serta Presentasi Ilmiah. This study concludes that these topics and sub-topics needed by the students are relevant to the six learning outcomes so that those topics and sub-topics can be used as teaching materials.

Abstract

Communication between lecturers and students is generally conducted through WhatsApp (WA). Student messages addressed to lecturers through WA apparently sometimes use impolite language. For this reason, an investigation of language politeness student WA messages addressed to lecturers was conducted. The purpose of this study is to investigate and assess language politeness contained in WA messages addressed by students to lecturers. The research method used was a descriptive method in which WA messages from 71 Politeknik Negeri Bandung students with a total of 446 speeches were used as data. Referring to politeness etiquette for students who want to contact lecturers through mobile phones established by Universitas Indonesia (UI) and Universitas Gajah Mada (UGM), it is known that language politeness in Polban student WA messages addressed to lecturers ranges from 51% to 75% or it is considered polite. It means that their WA messages consist of 5 to 6 politeness criteria: time consideration (delivery time does not interfere with breaks or worship), greeting, apology, introduction by name and department/study program, polite language use, and gratitude (saying thank you). Thus, the student WA messages addressed to lecturers have met the politeness etiquette established by UI and UGM.Komunikasi antara dosen dengan mahasiswa pada umumnya dilakukan melalui WA (WhatsApp). Penulisan pesan dari mahasiswa yang ditujukan kepada dosen melalui WA disinyalir kadang menggunakan bahasa yang tidak santun. Untuk itu, dilakukan “Investigasi Kesantunan Berbahasa Pesan Mahasiswa yang Ditujukan Kepada Dosen melalui Whatsapp”. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menginvestigasi dan  menilai kesantunan yang terdapat pada pesan yang disampaikan mahasiswa kepada dosen melalui WA. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan menggunakan data penelitian yang terdiri atas WA dari 71 mahasiswa Politeknik Negeri Bandung dengan tuturan berjumlah 446. Dengan merujuk kepada kesantunan/tatakrama untuk mahasiswa yang ingin menghubungi dosen melalui telepon genggam atau handphone yang ditetapkan  UI dan UGM diketahui secara umum nilai kesantunan bahasa WA mahasiswa berada di rentang 51%-75%. Artinya,  pada pesan yang disampaikan mahasiswa kepada dosen  melalui WA terdapat/tersurat 5 s.d. 6 kriteria kesantunan: pertimbangan waktu (waktu pengiriman tidak mengganggu istirahat atau ibadah), salam, permintaan maaf, pengungkapkan nama dan departemen/program studi, penggunaan bahasa yang sopan, dan ucapan terima kasih. Dengan demikian, pesan WA mahasiswa yang ditujukan kepada dosen telah memenuhi etika kesopanan seperti yang ditetapkan oleh UI dan UGM.

Abstract

This study analyzes the English-language slogan used by higher education institutions in West Java. The purpose of this study is to describe the linguistic patterns and to describe the substance contained in the slogans. This research used descriptive method in analyzing data since it was aimed to get a picture of the use of slogans in higher education institutions. The data were 63 English-language slogans of higher education institutions in West Java with the official web pages and electronic brochures on the Internet as data resources. This study shows that the English-language slogans used by higher education institutions in West Java consist of phrases and sentences. These phrases are noun phrase (41 or 64% slogans), gerund phrase (6 or 9.2 % slogans), verb phrase (4 or 6.3% slogans), prepositional phrase (3 or 4.7% slogans), and infinitive phrase (1 or 1.5% slogan). Meanwhile, the types of the sentence are declarative sentence (8 or 12.5 % slogans) and imperative sentences (1 or 1.5% slogans). This study also shows that there are 13 slogans (20.9%) which contain goal, 49 (77.8%) slogans which contain ideology, and 1 (1.6%) slogan which contains both goal and ideology.

Abstract

Kurangnya peran serta warga atau masyarakat RW 02 Ciwaruga, Kabupaten Bandung Barat dalam pengelolaan sampah walaupun telah memiliki Bank Sampah Cempaka 2, yang dibentuk sejak tahun 2016. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan PKM ini  disesuaikan  dengan  kondisi dan waktu kegiatan Bank Sampah dengan langkah-langkah melakukan kunjungan dan diskusi dengan kader penggiat bank sampah, memotret dan mensosialisasikan tingkat keberhasilan bank sampah dilihat dari manfaat secara sosial dan ekonomi, serta merumuskan penyuluhan dan mempersiapkan berbagai media sosialisasi. Perilaku memilah sampah berpotensi untuk ditumbuhkan sebagai gerakan massal dan adanya Bank Sampah, secara ekonomi, sangat membantu dalam menciptakan pekerjaan dan menambah penghasilan masyarakat RW 02 Ciwaruga. Abstract

Pembelajaran matematika sering dikeluhkan sebagian besar guru SMA karena kurang dapat menarik minat siswa. Hal ini dapat diatasi dengan menerapkan software matematika sehingga berdampak positif meningkatkan minat belajar siswa. Sehubungan dengan hal itu, dilakukan, “Pembelajaran Geometri Menggunakan GeoGebra” bagi MGMP Matematika SMA Negeri Cimahi. Tujuan pelatihan ini untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dan pengetahuan guru SMA Cimahi menyampaikan materi geometri menggunakan GeoGebra. Pelatihan ini diikuti 25 orang guru yang tergabung dalam MGMP Matematika SMA Cimahi. Pelatihan dilaksankana secara tatap muka di SMA Negeri Cimahi selama 40 jam dengan durasi lima minggu. Hasil pelatihan ini menunjukkan topik menentukan “Garis Sejajar, Garis Tegak Lurus, Bidang Segitiga, dan Bidang Segi Empat ”, semua peserta sangat menguasai penggunaan Geogebra. Pada topik Menentukan “Luas, Jarak Titik, jarak bidang, Sudut, dan Volum”, hampir semua peserta sangat menguasai penggunaan Geogebra dan hanya bebera peserta yang kurang menguasai. Pada topik membuat gambar dan animasi “Kubus, Balok, dan Limas” , sebagian besar peserta sangat menguasai, terdapat beberapa peserta yang menguasai dan hanya sebagian kecil masih kurang menguasai. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini telah meningkatkan kompetensi guru-guru matematika peserta pelatihan dalam mengoperasikan software GeoGebra dalam pembelajaran Geometri. Hal ini sangat mendukung proses pembelajaran matematika di kelas yang diampunya sehingga peserta didiknya antusias. Kata kunci : geometri, matematika, GeoGebra

Abstract

Mathematics learning is often complained of by most high school teachers because it is not able to attract students' interest. This can be overcome by applying mathematical software so that it has a positive impact and increases student interest in learning. For this reason, Community Service Activities are carried out in the form of "Interactive Learning for High School Mathematics Using GeoGebra" for MGMP Mathematics at SMA Negeri Cimahi. The purpose of this is to increase the knowledge and skills training of SMA Cimahi teachers in delivering mathematics subject matter using GeoGebra. This training was attended by 30 teachers who are members of the Mathematics MGMP of SMA Cimahi. The training is carried out face-to-face in several Cimahi Public High Schools alternately for 40 hours with a duration of five weeks. The results of this training show the topic "Algebraic Equations and Graphs of Functions", all participants are very familiar with the use of Geogebra. On the topic of “Integral”, almost all participants are very good at using Geogebra and only a few participants are less proficient. On the topic “Boundary Concepts. Concept of Derivation, Concept of Rieman's Sum, and Transformation, most of the participants were very mastered, there were some participants who mastered it and only a small part who still lacked it. Thus, this training has increased the competence of the trainee mathematics teachers in operating the GeoGebra software in learning mathematics. This really supports them in learning mathematics in the class they teach so that their students are enthusiastic.

Abstract

Recent years have witnessed a growing interest in research on English collocations, yet studies focusing on Indonesian collocations remain underexplored. Collocations are crucial for language acquisition as proficiency in collocations is indicative of language competence. This study, therefore, intends to reveal and map the patterns of Indonesian lexical and grammatical collocations through a contrastive analysis with English collocation patterns. The research was primarily qualitative,utilizing the phraseological approach supported by a corpus for collocation identification. The word classes of the collocation patterns were determined using KBBI V (the unabridged Indonesian dictionary). Data were sourced from main reports of Tempo magazine and headlines of Kompas as well as Pikiran Rakyat newspaper, comprising a total of 14,206 words. The data yielded a total of 1,488 instances of Indonesian collocations, divided into lexical collocation with 994 instances (66.8%) and grammatical collocation with 494 instances (33.2%). The investigation reveals nine sub-types of Indonesian lexical collocations, seven of which correspond to English lexical collocation sub-types while the other two are Indonesian-specific patterns. With respect to grammatical collocation, Indonesian possesses 14 sub-types, with eight aligning with English patterns and six unique to Indonesian. Future studies are required to delve more into and shed light on Indonesian collocations.

Abstract

In the teaching process, teachers are expected to be creative and innovative in delivering the subject matter of teaching. One of the methods that can be used is visualizing mathematics teaching using GeoGebra software. However, many teachers need help understanding how to use this software. Therefore, training is needed to visualize mathematical concepts to help teachers teach mathematics in their classes. Mathematics teaching can be visualized with the help of GeoGebra so that it can improve student understanding. With this media, concepts, formula derivations, problem-solving, and their applications can be visualized more clearly. This makes mathematics teaching more explorative because students can directly observe the relationship between analytical and visual representations of a concept and the relationship between mathematical concepts. From this activity, partner teachers benefit from increasing their ability to use GeoGebra software to support the teaching and learning process (KBM). The implementation of this training is in three steps. The first step is the formulation of a tutorial module for visualizing mathematics teaching using GeoGebra. The second step is the implementation of training activities which include pretests, explanations of the subject matter, and practices for visualizing mathematics teaching with GeoGebra. The third step is the final evaluation (posttest). At the end of the training, almost all participants mastered the training topics and only a small number had not mastered it. So, it was concluded that the competence of visualizing mathematics teaching with GeoGebra of partner teachers who attended the training increased. This competence greatly supports the implementation of mathematics teaching in the classroom and makes students more enthusiastic.

Abstract

Satu di antara indikator yang berkontribusi penting terhadap terwujud atau tidaknya capaian pembelajaran adalah adanya kebutuhan pembelajar. Untuk itu, perlu dilakukan analisis kebutuhan mahasiswa akan materi dan metode perkuliahan Proposal dan Tata Tulis Ilmiah (PRTTI) dengan tujuan untuk memetakan kebutuhan mahasiswa akan materi mata kuliah PRTTI dan mendeskripsikan metode pembelajaran yang dibutuhkan mahasiswa untuk setiap materi mata kuliah PRTTI. Dengan metode deskripsi dan responden adalah mahasiswa Program Studi Teknik Perawatan dan Perbaikan Gedung (TPPG) yang mengikuti perkuliahan PRTTI di semester genap tahun akademis 2020–2021 diperoleh hasil Analisis kebutuhan mahasiswa akan materi pembelajaran PRTTI terdiri atas Pengantar Penulisan Ilmiah, Proposal, Laporan Ilmiah, Etika Penulisan, Konvensi Naskah, Kalimat Ilmiah, serta Presentasi Ilmiah. Selain itu pada setiap materi,mahasiswa sangat membutuhkan metode diskusi&presentasi, latihan, ceramah, sedangkan metode diskusi, kerja kelompok, dan demonstrasi kurang dibutuhkan mahasiswa. Dari uji coba materi pembelajaran dan metode tersebut, diperoleh nilai rata-rata mahasiswa dalam perkuliahan PRTTI adalah 77.63 atau AB. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kebutuhan mahasiswa akan ketujuh materi dan keenam metode pada perkuliahan PRTTI dapat difungsikan untuk memperoleh capaian pembelajaran.
